I don't think people are clocking what's going on when these colleges and universities call police to a student protest.

These protests have been non-violent, centering community, education, culture, solidarity, and, of course, divestment. They are made up of the body these institutions are meant to serve, expressing concerns and issuing demands.

But, to those with power in a capitalist system, interrupting the flow of capital will always be seen as peak violence. The heads of these institutions and the politicians backing them, albeit headasses, are smart. They know some things:

One. When police show up to non-violent protests, everyone -- the cops, the protesters, bystanders, passersby -- gets agitated. Things get tense and physical violence is more likely.

Two. The police will kill you. Some of them really want to. We have seen, in living memory, police kill anti-war student protesters on campus.

It's a very generous assessment to say that these colleges and universities, these politicians, are merely willing to let these students be killed for protesting the war and interrupting the flow of funds.

(I wrote this yesterday and didn't post it 'cause I kind of just keep my thoughts in my drafts and interact with people elsewhere online, but after everything that has happened in that time, I think it needs to be said that these institutions are calling the police in because they know they will attack protesters. They are calling them in to violently, even lethally, snuff out this movement. They're called in to administer punishment, not peace.)

YOU'RE WHAT (YUGYEOM)

THE BACK STORY: you and yugyeom have known one another since the two of you were in grade school. In high the two of you attempted to date but then decided that you were better off as friends, but that didn't stop the two of you from hooking up every now and again. This set up seemed perfect for the both of you since you both were very goal oriented. Now that he's a big star and living out his dreams you couldn't be prouder of him but it's been awhile since the two of you have seen or heard from one another, until you get an invite to a house party he's having. You of course RSVP to the event and are super excited about seeing your child hood friend after so long.

AT THE PARTY

once you walk into the house yugyeom spits you from across the room and he rushes over to you and lifts you up over his shoulder and runs across the room with you on his shoulder.

YUGYEOM: SHE CAME EVERYBODY! Y/N ACTUALLY CAME!

even though you're kind of embarrassed by him. You can't help but laugh. YUGYEOM was always doing the absolute most when the two of you were together, but it mad you feel special so it was OK. He puts you down after arriving to where the rest of the GOT7 members are.

Y/N: you must be drunk!

YUGYEOM: Yea and you're behind. So hurry up and catch up or you'll lose to me.

YUGYEOM knows you are super competitive and he knows exactly how to play on that fact.

Y/N: you've never beat me at drinking and you final getting taller than me won't change that fact.

YUGYEOM and you laugh out loud and he introduces you to the guys in GOT 7 as you though back shots. After dancing singing and being introduced to every single person at the party you black out.

THE NEXT MORNING

As you wake up you notice you're completely naked and someone is in the bed with you. You quickly roll over and see YUGYEOM grinning at you.

Y/N: are you naked too?

YUGYEOM: yup

Y/N: stop looking at me like that creep.

YUGYEOM: just like old times huh

Y/N: not really, I think you got smaller down there.

You lift up the cover to look at yugyeom naked body. And he jumps on top of you, and slides himself between your legs. And the two of you start laughing

Y/N: stop I have to get to work

Yugyeom: it's the weekend

Y/N: cops don't get the weekend off super star.

Yugyeom pouts and rest his head on your bear chest.

Yugyeom: call in sick. I miss you.

You say this as you gesture toward your vagina.

You push yugyeom off you and get out of the bed before he can talk you into actually staying. And yugyeom watches as you search for you clothes.

Yugyeom: damn. Why did we stop sleeping together again?

Y/N: I guess we both just got to busy.

You're almost dressed when you realize your missing some thing important.

Yugyeom: looking for these?

You look up at yugyeom and see him with your panties in his mouth. And when you go to snatch them from him he pulls you by the hand back into the bed with him.

Y/N: seriously yugyeom I have to go.

Yugyeom: then let me keep these, to remember you.

You get up and rush out of the house to go home and get ready for work.

It's been weeks since you and yugyeom have spoken or seen each other, but you never hold things like that against him. You know that he's busy and you are too. But lately you've been feeling under the weather and a trip to the doctors give to information you were not ready for.

TEXT

Y/N: hey when will you be free, We need to talk.

Yugyeom: come to the house tonight

That night you show up at yugyeom house and he greets you at the door in his underwear with a single rose in his hand.

YUGYEOM: I knew you wouldn't be able to stay away long.

You shake your head and push past him.

You walk into the living room and yugyeom follows behind you. You sit on the couch and yugyeom sits beside you.

Y/N: yugyeom are you really ready to be a dad?

Yugyeom: who's ever really ready to be a parent Y/N? I didn't plan on being a dad right now but if you're the mom then I guess the thought of being a dad isn't really that scary.

Y/N: how can you be so calm about this right now? I'm freak the hell out right now.

Yugyeom wraps his arms around you and starts to stroke your head gently. And even though you want to be tough right now you can't help but turn into silly puffy when he touches you.

Yugyeom: I'm not going anywhere not matter what choice you make. I didn't plan this but I don't think I would be OK with anyone else having my child.

You lean back to look yugyeom in the face and see his eyes are begining to tear up.

Y/N: what's the matter?

Yugyeom: you didn't come over here to tell me you're going to get rid of the baby did you?

When you hear him say this it feels like your heart has been ripped out of your chest and you start hating yourself because the thought had come across your mind a few times since you found out you were pregnant. And your body begins to trimmer

Y/N: I would be lying if I said I didn't think about it.

Yugyeom: if it's because you think I'm not serious, just give me a chance and I'll prove I can be what ever you need me to be.

You break away from yugyeom's embrace and turn to face him on the couch.

Y/N: it's not you, we're just so different from one another. And I don't want my kid growing up in the public eye. When I see myself settling down and having kids. This isn't what I imagine.

Yugyeom: then let's disappear.

Y/N: what?

Yugyeom: I can give up this life for the two of you in an instant just tell me when.
