NEVER NEVADA HQ EVENT: THE OLD GODS ARE DEAD
Summer leaves a scorch in the city. The burns bright enough that people cry out for it in its absence, bringing the lights the city is known for to shine to the fullest. This greed to chase the night away will only hurt its residents, and it doesn’t take long for the heat wave to take its toll. It poses a challenge–– who can still taste the sweet when sweat rolls in a salted river on your skin?
The weather can only be described as a broil, and every warning given out to open windows and not rely so heavily on conditioned air falls on deaf ears. City power is frail and flickers, until finally, it goes dark for good. Routine is not only interrupted, but demolished. Gluttony falls short when there is nothing left to gain. Envy of just what would have been had you listened weighs heavily on the mind. Lust for the moment the light hums back to life sits in the forefront with a hiss. Wrath for what feels like a problem for centuries ago burns a fervor that only makes the heat worse. But where is pride, when everyone falls to their knees together?
Everyone in Las Vegas sits in the same sluggard pose whether it be in their grandeur, ivory tower, asphalt throne, or desert haven. They all sit together, lessons of past and present thrown aside in the blinding influence the heat wave brings in their discomfort. It is said that mankind does not change, and worst comes out in those moments where their power is threatened. Can the same be said for the gods who rule the desert, though? The ones who have turned sand to gold, sold the shade for a shackle of their newfound law, and pulled free every greenery to make the land barren for their control of its monetized leaf?
The old gods are dead, and their lessons head a warning. Sin, however, will outlive them all. It is up to the city built upon it to decide if they will follow old pleasures for old consequences, or break free of the pattern. Their fight will be tested upon the dullness of their city when a blackout knows out all the power in Las Vegas.
SUMMARY: A heat wave over the city of Las Vegas and Nevada as a whole has caused significant disruption in the lives of its residents. Power outages have hit the city more than once, and in an attempt to conserve it, the city has issued scheduled black outs to certain areas over short periods of time. However, on August 10th, their attempts backfired and multiple locations lost power including a city wide blackout at 8 PM. The most unlikely of individuals find themselves not only sharing company in search of air conditioning or a charge for their phone, but stuck with no where to go.
IC INFORMATION
The summer has been filled with multiple heat waves and in order to conserve energy, citizens have been encouraged to not overuse their air conditioning and other appliances that require power.
Multiple blackouts have happened with a schedule, but remain disruptive.
On August 10th, the city undergoes a complete black out at 8 PM.
Everyone is advised to stay where they are and wait for the issue to be resolved, but some may not be so lucky to practice such patience.
OOC INFORMATION
All muses have been assigned to a location alongside other muses.
Muses have been paired based on the greek mythology figure assigned to their likeness upon acceptance into the roleplay. The situations in which they are placed are also based upon these myths.
The first part of the event begins Wednesday, August 10th. Part one will end on August 19th, at 11 PM EST.
During the course of the event (August 10th to August 19th), only event threads will be permitted on the dashboard in order to increase priority of the event and its progression to the plot.
Muses should solely be interacting with the pairings they were given, unless stated otherwise.
Group threads may be required for some pairings, unless it is discussed between muns to split groups and then connect them. It is vital to connect the group as a whole in one thread.
Acceptances for new characters will be post-poned to August 19th.
PAIRINGS
Aydin Ersan - Odysseus, Briar de la Rosa - Polyphemus, & Fionn Callaghan - Damasen
ODYSSEUS AND THE GIANTS: In the Iliad and the Odyssey, Odysseus is tasked to escape cannibalistic giants upon the capture of his ship. The giants, blinded from previous battles, strike a deal with Odysseus upon his capture. Odysseus claims to be “Nobody” and Polyphemus, specifically, promises to eat “Nobody” last after Odysseus encourages him to get drunk on wine. In another tale, a series of giants go out and destroy all of Odysseus’ ships for trespassing their island.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Upon the power outage, Aydin Ersan is stuck outside of Asena territory. The brotherhood territory is the only one known to every resident in Las Vegas, and his presence is duly noted. Briar de la Rosa and Fionn Callaghan have to make a choice to strike their trespasser, prove themselves as prospects defending their sliver of Vegas, or befriend him. If things go awry, will Aydin be able to take advantage of STYXS and its open tab policy to make allies, enemies, or a quick escape?
Brooks Amato - Methe, Verity Saint - Minthe
NYMPHS IN SERVICE & WRONGED: Methe is notorious for keeping company the god of wine, Dionysus. Every one of his antics had her near to support. Like wise, the casted Olympian god Hades had a similar creature at his every beck and call. Both nymphs, they served their gods even if they would be crushed by another’s jealousy.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Verity Saint and Brooks Amato find themselves in a place they pretend is a haven for one reason or another, but they know better that its the shadows and the cracks that beckon them to HOUSE OF DIONN. With the fans still running and the front door thrown open to keep the flow, they make acquaintance as two wronged by a similar companionship.
Brielle Fournier - Perseus, Ivanna Lysytsya - Echidnades
PERSEUS AND HIS SLAYING: The Echidnades was one of the creatures slayed by Perseus after he pursued it in its home made up of the depths of a cave. Perseus was a known hero, and his killing of similar creatures would build his reputation and legacy.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: It’s no surprise the Lysytsya family has a solution to everything, and it is Ivanna Lysytsya that ventures the old house to find a generator fit to bring life back to the entire FOX MANOR. But upon her venture into the dark, she may find an enemy. Brielle Fournier, who now stands where her family once did to lead the Foxes, follows her down. Is this the isolation needed to kill the hold the family still has, or to break pattern and form an alliance?
Cyrus Rousseau - Dioscuri, Jackson Barrett - Hermes
THE PROTECTORS OF TRAVELERS: Hermes is not on the god of mischief, but travelers. He provides guidance as well as the spirit to run. The Dioscuri, while they may be known for their hand in a strike of lightening, also oversee those fleeing the trouble they’ve caused.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Cyrus Rousseau and Jackson Barrett find themselves stranded when night falls out on the long road leading out of the city. Their reasons remain their own, though there’s nothing like going for a drive and the wind to cool you off on a hot summer day. There’s one gas station nearby, but they only have enough gas for a single tank left after the city’s run them dry. At GOLDEN FLEECE GAS, they must decide to share, let one suffer, or find a way to catch someone’s bluff.
Nadia James - Chimera, Hanyeol Kim - Melinoe, Zekai Guray - Eris
THE GODS OF WAR AND THEIR CREATURES: Melinoe is a goddess of nightmares, reigning over the land where the fear of death eats away at the mind. Eris is the personification or strife, which is what starts all wars. War itself, though, has symbols rooted in the courage of a lion and the stealth of a serpent in the grass. It’s no wonder that one the cruelest creatures is a Chimera that carries both aspects in its twisted body.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: War is rooted in death, and modern wars seemed to be solved in the shadows to avoid the tax of true resolve. They still get to bend and break to their own rules. Nadia James and Hanyeoul Kim both shareshare a common role in war tactics as they are all under one contract or another, assassins. However, they’ve all been given one singular target–– Zekai Guray. When the outage flickers to silence, they’re locked on the outskirts of CLARK COUNTY not too far from the Asena Compound. There, they find their target but also the greed of its hunters.
Ximena Perez - Enyo, Oliver Zimmerman - Manticore, Benny Volkema - Menoetius
THE GODS OF WRATH AND THEIR CREATURES: These three deities serve wrath, in any form it may come. Enyo stands as the goddess of war itself, while Menoetius the representation of what kept so many soldiers alive in their desperation–– wrath, anger, and violence. The creature they share similarities to is the manticore, with the head of a man despite the violent impulse of every fearsome creature and its deadly ability.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: A task rolls in before the power shuts off for good, and Ximena Perez is forced to give information as a hacker to one particular person–– Oliver Zimmerman. In her pursuit, and in his own need to complete his task before a certain deadline, they agree to meet at THREE FATES DINER for the exchange only to find that Benny Volkema has other plans to ruin the calm.
Sibel Bosnak - Paean, Laurel Souza - Melpomene
SAD PROSE AND TRAGEDY: Paean is a form of prose in greek, specifically one of triumph and praise. It is typically used by the muses who are the helm of inspiration to artists and poets, inventors and idealists. However, it isn’t used by Melpomene. As a muse of tragedy, her specific to its mythology for melancholy vows. Melpomene typically used it as the muse of tragedy. As a muse, she is the inspiration to poets and artists.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Both Sibel Bosnak and Laurel Souza are outside of their elements, but their certainty lies in a singular claim for normalcy. They both seek out solution from the heat at ARSLAN BAKERY AND TEA SHOP where the staff are desperate to get rid of anything that will perish without their appliances working. In an offer to help, they find themselves stuck in the bakery’s freezer. It’s not the solution they expected, but it is some relief from the heat. Let’s just hope the only thing inside really is baked goods.
Violet Madden - Janus, Isaiah Nasir - Dysnomia, Ruelle Desrosiers - Hypnos
THE REIGN OF SLEEP: Together, these deities represent different aspects of sleep. Janus is the god of doors and passage ones, one where Hypnos the god of sleep can find his way in. But, where does Dysmonia lie? As the goddess of lawlessness, dreams follow no linear guide and even less the bounds of right and wrong.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: The heat is unbearable, and some decide that they may take advantage of it by simply preserving their energy. At the poolside of the FOUR JACKS MOTEL, these individuals keep their own mirage against the swelter of boredom. Drinks by the pool stay lukewarm without ice, sunburns settle in with a flourish of a tan, and more importantly, the freedom to wander any rooms when everyone’s too overwhelmed to lock the door.
Josie Barrett - Soteria, Marley Callahan - Litae, Drew Whittemore - Pandora
PRAYERS, SOLITUDE, AND CHAOS: Litae represents solemn prayers and the peace they request, while Soteria is the solitude where most will find that equilibrium. However, the tale of Pandora is rooted in its demolishment. Chaos was held in a single box given to a mere mortal, and she defied all rules to keep it closed. Once she opened it, sin and tragedy all ran through the earth where it plagues humanity to this very day.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Tolerance is low when the heat is high, and many have sought out not comfort but simply peace of mind. Yet, typical havens have been intruded by others. Solitude is hard to find when no one can find any semblance of repose. We lay our scene at ALHAMBRA APARTMENTS, one where each muse seeks out serenity only to fail. It is up to Marley Callaghan to try and find the means to be genuine and help, to answer the prayers of others instead of her own. It is up to Josie Barrett to decide if isolation is the cure, that maybe pushing everyone away or only inviting them at arms length is just. It is up to Drew Whittemore to decide if he will let an outsider invoke upon one of his riders, or if he will incite chaos in the name of his vow to the Brotherhood.
Korrine Stone - Keres, Altan Hasad - Daktyloi
THE WORST OF MAN AND THE WORST OF WOMEN: The Keres are women drawn to violent death and oversee it, though they may never touch it. They flew through the battlefield to relish its unravel. The Daktyloi where an archaic race of men created by the earth, Gaea, but they did not chase chaos. They taught human kind through lessons provided by a multitude of gods. These lessons, however, could easily be twisted in their hands and corrupted in their greed.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: The possibility of death seems to be blinded by the selfish endeavor to find solution to the heat. It leaves everyone sluggish, judgement impaired, and resilience fleeting. This makes the perfect hunting ground for not only Korrine Stone and her contracted targets, but Altan Hasad’s personal mission to get information on their story. They seek out two kinds of death–– the physical, and that of a reputation over loose lips. They both arrive at LOTUS HOTEL AND CASINO for their victim at Room 286. They must both lie for the sake of claiming their territory, but it seems they’ll need to do better when the hotel guest is found dead long before they got to have their fun.
Kate Montgomery - Fields of Asphodel, Atticus Bailey - Cerberus, Renin Desrosiers - Thanatos
THE PATH TO PURGATORY: The Fields of Asphodel are purgatory in Hell, where the vegetation offered can leave you there forever. Hell itself is guarded by a three headed dog known as Cerberus, where no one can get in or out without a bark or bite. But the path to death is first paved by Thanatos, the god of death and dying. Together, they create a soft domino to a punishment of wandering between feeling alive and nothing at all.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: The safest place to be may not be DELOS HOSPITAL as its overrun with those who rely on the tranquility and quick to action individuals. Atticus Bailey is forced to make deliveries for life saving medication that hasn’t been spoiled from the local pharmacy. Kate Montgomery is on duty and Renin Desrosiers has been tasked to take a coworker from Cirque du Soleil after the lights went out at the worst time. But in a room full of people, who will be the first to suffocate?
David Ephron - Jacchus, Leyla Duymaz - Hestia
THE HEARTH: Jacchus is the ritual cry of joy, one held in the arms of Demeter when harvest returned. Fulfillment is also carried by Hestia, the goddess of the hearth and family. While these are both gilded concepts, good never leads bad astray.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: There’s nothing quite like the generator on street lights clocking out in the middle of an intersection. It’s a miracle that it’s nothing but a small crash, but none the less, Leyla Duymaz and David Ephron find themselves at PITS AUTO REPAIR together again. It appears empty after the mechanic’s gone out to borrow a part from another shop. Everyone has been exchanging their thoughts on the blackouts all night, and it seems their attempts to understand what isn’t their business strikes back. The power flickers out, blinding everyone and the security of the mechanics is now disrupted. An elevated car pins David under it when it collapses, leaving only one to decide his fate and get him home to his family that feels so far away.
Luciana Morales - Asclepius, Blue Sweeney - Pomegranate
HEALING: Asclepius is a demigod granted gilded status of a god after heroic acts, making him the god of medicine and an apparent ability to bring the dead back to life. The Pomegranate is known as the fruit of the dead in which Persephone consumed, binding her to the Underworld. When the food of the dead is eaten, it does not matter who or what you are. You may never leave hell.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Luciana Morales loses a patient. It happens, and it’s unfortunate, but what’s troubling is that no one can seem to identify the man. Blue Sweeney is called in upon his business card being found in the man’s wallet in place of an identification card. Down in the MORGUE OF DELOS HOSPITAL, they go down together to figure out who he is only to find the door locks behind them as the power goes out again. It’s eerie until danger strikes and a toxin released from the body is released into the air sending them into a frenzy.
Liv Saelo - Xenia, Talia Arslan - Phaethon
THE ENTRANCE TO HEAVEN: Xenia is the goddess of hospitality, known for her warm welcome and the greeting craved by travelers and a protection from the outside world. Phaethon, a child of the sun gods, moves between the welcome of the earth and the sun out of desperation to be accepted as their son.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Being locked up with the people you love may not seem like the ideal, especially when humidity and heat float between. Talia Asrlan and Liv Saelo find themselves seeking a thrill, only for it to be cut short when power crackles to black aboard the HIGH ROLLER ROLLERCOASTER. If you tilt you head up, the highest point where the sunset settles on the city is covered by their waving seats. Their collective screams are what make up the atmosphere, and their demise may open more than one door.
Julian McClain - Hercules, Safet Guray - Chiron, Puck Bailey - Achilles
LESSONS FOR A HERO: Chiron is a centaur known for his role in training heroes in mythology. He’s guided them for centuries on not how only to slay monsters, but negotiate with gods. Two of the most well known heroes in mythology are Hercules, the demigod son of Zeus, and Achilles. Achilles, however, is not divine from birth. His mother blessed him by bathing him in the River Styx.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: The ASENA COMPOUND finds itself with waning power. The generators illuminate some life to certain corners. The majority of the family has fled from the city itself to escape the heat, while others remain in town to solve this woe. Safet Guray invites Julian McClain over for the damp chill that can be found, but it seems he’s not the only unfamiliar face wandering the Asena home. Puck Bailey is found on the premises, but he won’t find his way back from where he’s come. What will happen if an olive branch is offered between wolf and brother?
Franco Alvarez - Hephaestus, Lincoln Porter - Talos
HEPHAESTUS’ GILDED GIANT: Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths, was commissioned by the king god Zeus to create a protector for the island of Crete from anyone wanting to invade. He creates Talos, a giant bronze man who would hurl rocks at any invaders by the sea and bringing peace of mind to its people.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: The phones won’t stop ringing at the LAS VEGAS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT, and it’s probably because they’re violently understaffed. Everyone has thrown away responsibility under the hottest day of the year, and despite his efforts, Lincoln Porter can’t get out of it. He’s reached out to other departments for help, going as far as tackling Franco Alvarez to his newfound ensemble of enforcement. Though, there’s more than answering phone calls. Lincoln is still investigating the death of his Deputy Chief and the arson that demolished more than half of the LVPD is still in effect. Lincoln has a reputation for being ruthless, and so what can he do now that he has a firefighter from the scene all to himself? Will Franco help him rebuild his case and move it from cold to hot?
Cooper Castillo - Sisyphus, Holden Markham - Arachne, Evren Bosnak - Prometheus
THE DEPTHS OF TARTARUS: In Tartarus, eternal suffering is instilled on its inhabitants. They are defiled by the gods upon what they’ve done. Sisyphus was forced to roll a rock over and over up a hill and just when he believed he’d finish the task, it would roll itself back down. Prometheus was strung up and forced to be eaten over and over again by crows. Arachne, while never bound to hell, would live the rest of her life as a spider after challenging Athena.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Inside of ASHINA CASINO, all three men find their way back to the game floor never ending. The elevator gets stuck, and the lights only last a short while before it all goes dark. Who do you all when rescue is stuck with you? Evren Bosnak must figure a way out and assess the dangers his companions may pose as they’re unfamiliar, Holden Markham must ensure his endeavors with a client remain his own, and Cooper Castillo must put his knowledge to the test in order to ensure they make it out alive.
Azra Guray - Iris, Alejandra Ruiz - Drachmae
RAINBOW MESSAGES: Iris is the messenger of the gods, and her worship included the surrender of drachmae. Drachmae were the coins used as the currency in Ancient Greece and played a roll not only in transaction, but even death where they were laid upon the eyes and in the mouths of those who perished to pay the ferryman when they arrived at the Underworld.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Alejandra Ruiz finds herself on FREEMONT STREET at the end of the night where the lights flicker out to a darkness that swallows the city. The lights go out, and the void is filled with the sound of tires screeching against pavement alongside the crunch of metal. Azra Guray is a witness, and she must decide where her responsibilities lie. Delos Hospital has been a nightmare since light abandoned them, but her territory with medics isn’t far. For a price, will Azra do what is right or what is good for her?
Oleksander Lysytsya - Hades, Sadie Sweeney - Persephone
THE KING AND QUEEN OF HELL: Hades is the king of the Underworld, otherwise known as hell. He became infatuated with Persephone, the daughter of the seasons themselves. Plucking her away from her mother Demeter, the goddess would mourn and the world would go dark in an eternal winter. Zeus interfered, but the goddess had eaten the food of the dead that bound her to the realm. A deal was made where she would stay for six months of the year, one for each pomegranate seed. Demeter would mourn, and the harvest of the earth would decline until she was returned and spring would come.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Ollie Lysytsya is suppose to be a ghost, but its hard to be the darkness everyone ignores with its surrounds the city. You become the first one everyone sees because you’re the only piece that belongs. Sadie Sweeney finds her way next to him along the quiet of ELYSIAN MARKET, where the smell of death is sweet amongst dying flowers. It is up to Ollie to swallow the pride of his resurrection, label her a threat, or make an ally out of a mere civilian.
Audrey Rousseau - Apollo, Amory Jones - Herophile, Julia Amato - Delphi
APOLLO AND HIS ORACLES: Apollo is the god of the sun, medicine, and the ability to see into the future. His temples were known for their oracles with Herophile and Delphi being his most prominent.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: By midnight, the EMERGENCY ROOM OF DELOS HOSPITAL is overrun with the aftermath of the power outages. Injuries sustained from all angles flood the hospital that just barely flickers with life. Security at the hospital, however, is at an all time low. Amory Jones walks in with one intention–– go in, and go out before the one using her as a puppet tugs on her strings too hard. Audrey Rousseau is assigned as her caretaker, but suspicions arise that bring Julia Amato into the scene in order to pull information out of the woman. One message is clear–– Delos Hospital has become a target for anarchy.
Mason Torres- Tantalus, Jude Castellanos - Midas, Sloane Quill - Ganymedes
DEFIED ROYALTY: Kings and Queens are known for their selfishness in these myths, and many have paid the price against the gods and their ways many times. Tantalus was casted into hell, Midas would turn everything he touched into gold including those he loved, and Ganymedes would be robbed by Zeus in admiration.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: These three have found themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time. After securing his shop, Jude Castellanos finds himself forced back into CASTELLAN JOYERIA when the lights go out. Alongside him, Mason Torres and Sloane Quill have become his fellow hostages. Robbing the jewelry shop isn’t their only goal, though. The Forum is a playground after hours for those looking to seek out wealth, and with cameras blown, they can wreak havoc.
Katerina Devereaux - Adonis, Mikhail Winnick - Eros, Darragh Callaghan - Daphne
APHRODITE’S FAVORITE AND HER SON: Aphrodite’s favor has blessings and curses as it can spring jealousy. Eros is her son, the god of passion, and Adonis her favorite mortal. Her love brought him back to life and away from Hades despite the laws of life and death, essentially a threat to the love of her son. Daphne is another enemy of Eros, whose lover offended him.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: All three individuals are lured to the LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY. One may believe this is a trick, another a display of love, and another a sort of adventure. What they find is that the lack of security allows them to walk right in without a single effort, and they wander. Lights guide them to the speedway, only for various vehicles to suddenly run out through the speedway and crash without warning and more importantly–– no regard for those stranded in the pit. Questions flash above them on the screen, and all three are forced to answer as a means of pleasing whoever has turned them into a game. One pattern is certain, though. Whoever they’ve shared a bed with has become the noose around their necks.
Abraham Sweetwine - Orpheus, Ilya Lysytsya - Eurydice
A SAD SONG: The tale of Orpheus and Eurydice is a tragedy. Orpheus was the son of a muse and had favor of the gods for his songs manipulated nature in the most breathtaking ways. He married Eurydice, one of Pan’s nymphs, but their love would not last. Upon being chased by a shepherd infatuated with her, eurydice fell and was bitten by a snake that killed her instantly. Orpheus was unable to cope with her death and with the help of Hermes went to the Underworld to get her back. The stroke a deal with Hades where he could leave as long as he didn’t look back to check on her. Just before they were out, he turned and he lost her forever.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: We lay our scene at TODDY LEASH’S ICE BOX where Ilya Lysytsya and other wait staff under Fox territory have commissioned tattoos on site. The ice box bar is closed for the day while staff focuses on taking inventory and enjoying the cool atmosphere. It doesn’t take long for things to awry when Abraham Sweetwine arrives. The power goes out, and while tattooing continues, it will come to an abrupt stop. Remaining staff look for lights only for the security measures of the bar to lock them in upon the cut in power. Doors are jammed, lights are dead with the except of one flickering bulb. The trouble, however, doesn’t lie in the dark. It’s the rapid melting of their once frozen surroundings. By hour three, the room is flooding. It only takes 70 degree water to kill.
Ayla Quinn - Orphne, Jesse Valencia - River Lethe
THE RIVER AND HIS WIFE: Orphne was a nymph born of the cursed plants and vegetation in the Underworld. She was surrounded by pain, mourning, and death. The River Lethe would become her husband, both wound around every consequence of one’s actions in life and Hades’ lands of punishment for them.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Jesse Valencia and Ayla Quinn are both witnessing the worst wedding day known to man at A LITTLE WHITE CHAPEL . Makeup is melting, the ice sculpture is water, and the groomsmen and bridesmaids alike are spilling liquor everywhere as a means of staying cool. However, the wedding ends shortly before the ceremony can begin. The bride is swearing to call it quits, and her patience is waning. The groom is nowhere to be found. They know for certain that the families in attendance are gonna have someone’s head. Will they step up and find them, take advantage of the open bar at the reception, or give into the chaos in a different way?
Ari Arora - Ariadne, Brighton Andrews - Daedalus
THE LABYRINTH: Ariadne led Theseus through the Labyrinth, a contraption created by Daedalus by a king. At the heart of the maze, lied a minotaur that Ariadne helped the young man escape.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: In the TUNNELS OF CLARK COUNTY, Ari Arora follows a client and gets lost. They find Brighton Andrews who seems to have finally run of luck upon his exploration outside of his prison and punishment. There’s one catch, though–– someone sits at the heart of the tunnel system looking for one of them. They’ve found notes scratched into the sides of the walls that both feel target themselves. One of them has a target on their back, but who?
Dominic Murphy - Nostos, Orestes Beltran - Autolycus, Berkan Arslan - Pyroeis
NOSTALGIA AND THE SUN: Autolycus is a mortal gifted with skills of trickery and mischief by Hermes himself. Pyroeis is the god of a wandering star, a beckon in the night. Nostos, however, isn’t a figure at all but rather a wood–– a root, a coming home and a return to origin.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: Berkan Arslan and Dominic Murphy venture out to the shows Vegas is known for. Staying inside allows them to escape the scorch of daylight. At the CIRQUE DU SOLEIL theatre, catching a smaller show sharing the stage, Orestes Beltran gives it his all upon one of the largest audiences he’s had in a while. When an unschedules power outage hits the day, the stage isn’t prepared. It doesn’t just ruin the magic, but it engulfs the stage in its entirety. Berkan lies on stage as a volunteer, and Orestes unable to free him from a trick. Dominic can run, or he can fight and help. Will Berkan return to the feeble son whose power was taken so easily, Orestes to the poor stage hand that let his crew perish under fire, or Dominic to who he used to be when the adrenaline hit on a battlefield?
Evan Carpenter - Terpsichore, Aspen Parrish - Calypso
FLEETING INSPIRATION AND THE ISLAND OF LOST HOPE: Terpsichore is the muse of dance. She is an inspiration that is ever moving and it appears, ever fleeting as muses go. Calypso on the other hand is known for the way she bound the men of Odysseus’ ship and forced them to abandon hope and dreams. What happens when these two forces collide?
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: The heat has brought one good thing–– everyone wants to be indoors, no matter where they are. CYTHEREA GALLERY is open and Aspen Parrish’s business is flourishing. Evan Carpenter makes her way in to escape the heatwave. As a means of keeping customers present, staff break open supply but the constant flickering of power makes it hard to keep measurements right. A frenzy breaks out, and art is more than just a pretty thing to look at. It’s a nightmare.
Vespasian Moreau - Deimos, Blythe Sweetwine - Charon
THE FEAR OF BEING ALONE: Deimos is the god of fear, the crackle that runs the adrenaline through your veins in fight or flight. Many fear death, and the first round of worry of just where you’ll end up starts at the ferryman’s boat, Charon. He takes you to be judged and where you will go as a means of eternal punishment or eternal peace.
THE MODERN DAY MYTH: The dead are often mourned alone. There is no one to remember them but the hands that prepare them for their rest. That being said, their belongings typically go to whoever attends the funeral and is willing to take their things, if not they are donated. An open mourning at SWEETWINE MORTUARY AND FUNERAL PARLOR beckons curious souls and for one reason or another, Vespasian Moreau finds himself in the vacancy of the room with the dead. Multiple funerals are held with a burial scheduled in a few hours due to the appliances for embalming and storage as dead as they are. There’s a deal to be made–– take what has no claim, or pay Blythe Sweetwine for what’s been left behind with more worth downstairs.
