Bolin putting himself in, and working his way out of, the polar bear dog house, coming up!

Imagine Bolin seeing someone flirt with you. Yet again. Bolin usually gets jealous but he doesn't blame you because you reject the advances. Unfortunately this time when Bolin goes to show his competitor that you're with Bolin, Bolin misunderstands you, thinking you're welcoming this stranger's advances. After Bolin tells this unwanted person that it's time for them to leave, he turns to you.

"Bolin," You said, "We were just talking about..."

Without thinking, Bolin bursts out the first thing his flustered emotions let him say, "So that's it? I'm gone for 5 minutes and you're ready to walk home with some stranger?!"

Bolin had never accused you of any infidelity before, so you were absolutely livid that we would say such a thing. "Excuse me, Bolin," you defended yourself, "I do NOT just go with anyone just because they say 'hi' to me. We were actually just talking about how we both have fire ferrets!"

Bolin's anger instantly turned to guilt. He was just as surprised as you were that he would ever say such a thing to you.

"And how do you think I feel, Bolin?" You asked. "How do you think I feel when I get to watch countless girls throw themselves at you?"

"I... I didn't know." Bolin replied sheepishly.

"Oh please! Girls are practically throwing themselves at you!" You told Bolin, sternly, as tears started to build up. "And you know why? It's because you're amazing, Bolin! Too amazing for me to throw it all away for someone I just met!" You had to leave before you became so angry that you would say something you would regret, just as Bolin did.

"Wait!" Bolin called out, but he was too late. You were already walking home.

Days had passed, and you never stopped loving Bolin. But because you love him so much is the reason why it hurt as bad as it did when Bolin had said that. Bolin had apologized a million times, but you needed space.

After a couple weeks, you had missed Bolin so much that you finally agreed to meet up with him at the beach. He was standing on the sand, holding flowers and chocolates.

"I missed you," Bolin spoke slowly to give himself time to think instead of blurting out. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't be so jealous."

"I actually... kind of like it," you admitted. "You're showing me that you don't want to lose me." You slowly walked up to Bolin.

"I never want to lose you," Bolin said as you placed your arms around him. "You're too amazing for me to throw it all away out of anger. I love you, y/n."

"I love you too, Bolin. Would you like to come over for tea?" You asked.

"Yes!" Bolin exclaimed. "I mean, yes please. But first, I've been practicing something." Bolin handed you the flowers and chocolates.

Bolin placed his feet at shoulder width apart, brought his elbows to his sides, then rotated his foot. The sand had shifted around you until you were both standing on a short platform shaped in a heart.

"You're the biggest dork alive," you told Bolin with love.

"Yeah, but I'm your dork," Bolin said with a chuckle.

You couldn't help but to kiss him then and there.

i know sometimes it can feel like a character is. off limits. when someone that ships with them is uncomfortable sharing them. sometimes it feels like you're crossing some line that you're not supposed to cross. and i think it's kind of you to be so thoughtful of someone else's feelings, to not want to hurt anyone or make anyone uncomfortable!

but at the same time !!! that person doesn't own this character. even if they found him first. even if they've been shipping with him for years. it doesn't matter!!! you're still allowed to like him!!! you're still allowed to fall in love with him!!! you're still allowed to ship with him!!!

and they're allowed to be uncomfortable, sure! but that doesn't mean that you can't do what you want. and that doesn't mean that you two can't find a way to make it work! if you're friends with this person, you can work something out! you can make an agreement not to talk about this character to each other! they can blacklist tags! they can even unfollow! you can be friends and not follow each other! you can be friends and set whatever boundaries you need to set!

ultimately! self shipping is for you! it is an act of self love! and sometimes with self love, we do things that might make other people a little uncomfortable because it's what's right for us.
