the way that Haejoon’s memories of his father/childhood seem to be restoring themselves as they come up in conversation kind of reminds me of what Haejoon previously said about his relationship with Eunyung: you know, the bit about how he had a hole in his life, and wanted to make someone fit.

I don’t know if it’s a reach to connect that with his response to his father, but it makes sense on a logical level. It’s certainly more comfortable to try and remember the good things about/find common ground with an estranged family member than to linger on negative (or even ambivalent) thoughts about them
