11 facts ‘n jazz

I was tagged by @beggingforfics and @wildestdreamsfics a while back to share 11 random facts about myself. @stilesharrystyles also tagged me on my personal blog, but I’m just gonna do one post here! Heaven knows if I’m interesting enough to dredge up 22 facts. In fact, some of these may be repeats for people who’ve known me for ages.

My left pinky is crooked. I think I broke it when I was younger but didn’t realize and it didn’t heal right. Sometimes when I extend it and then try to bend it, it gets stuck. 

I had jaw surgery my junior year of high school. There are plates and screws in my jaw and I have very little feeling in my jaw, a side effect I was warned about before the procedure. I had to re-learn, essentially, how to play the trumpet because my embouchure was so different afterward. Bonus fun fact: before that surgery, I also got to play at the National Concert Band festival in Indianapolis that school year.

I’ve watched every episode of Boy Meets World at least four times. Probably close to the same with One Tree Hill (seasons one through six, anyway).

I can quote almost the entirety of The Little Mermaid.

I’ve known my best friend since we were twelve, and we’ve been roommates for going on seven years now. We met when I joined her Girl Scout troop.

I got my first (and only, thus far) marriage proposal when I was five. That was also the year a different boy called me a ‘babe’ and I stormed home to my mother mad as hell about it...only to ask what it meant, because I didn’t know, but I knew I should’ve been offended.

I quote songs on a regular basis. If someone says something that is part of a song lyric, I will then proceed to either state or sing the lyric. It’s my dad’s fault. I picked up the habit from him.

I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to memorizing random facts about things. That one actor you saw in that one thing...I probably know his name. That R&B album somebody released in the early 90s...I can probably tell you what year. That artist whose vocals are in the background but sound familiar...yeah, I gotchu. The date and year that TV show premiered...yes, you betcha, I’m your source. I’ve done a lot of Googling for knowledge over the years and somehow I rarely seem to forget the things I’ve stumbled across.

I love music so much that sometimes, when I hear a great song, I get so overwhelmed by its greatness that it makes me cry. And sometimes, it won’t even be a song that would make normal people cry! Just me, a weirdo, awed by its magnificence in terms of composition.

One of my friends from college got me into naming inanimate objects. She came in my room and named my then-roommate’s and my air freshener ‘Herbert,’ and it started a trend. For example, my iPod is named Rupert (after Rupert Giles, of course) and my car is named Bloo, after Blooregard Q. Kazoo, a character from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

I’ve been writing fanfiction since...middle school, technically? It was self-insertion fic at its finest - I wrote about myself and my friends and had both my real crushes and my celebrity ones thrown in as well. I’m 99.99% sure it was absolutely awful, but I wouldn’t be here, still writing, if I hadn’t started there.
