Los protagonistas de las fallas valencianas son los ninots, muñecos en valenciano. Los ninots son figuras artísticas, cuidadosamente elaboradas, con diferentes materiales combustibles, especialmente en cartón piedra, facilitando que éstos ardan, dando inicio a las tradicionales fallas. Estos muñecos suelen tener un carácter satírico y burlesco, a manera de crítica ante determinadas situaciones políticas y sociales. Por decisión popular y de las falleras mayores algunos de estos inmensos muñecos se salvan de ser quemados; muchos de estos ninots indultados son los que se exhiben en el Museo Fallero de Valencia y en otras instituciones de la comunidad valenciana. ... Lamentablemente no visité València en días de fallas. Ahora, en medio del furor de las fallas 2023, rememoro la visita que hice al Museo Fallero, donde exhiben diversos materiales, recursos y obras vinculadas a esta magna celebración, declarada en 2016, Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. En estas imágenes, algunos de los carteles que anuncian la gran fiesta de marzo. La última imagen es la del edificio sede del museo, el antiguo convento de la casa misión de San Vicente de Paül, cuya construcción culminó en 1831. ... En las fallas valencianas hay también ninots, de menor escala e igual calidad artística, dedicados a los niños, algunos de ellos aludiendo a grandes personajes infantiles. Los niños cuentan con sus propias figuras de cartón piedra y otros materiales que, lejos de quemarse, suelen dar lecciones visuales sobre infinidad de asuntos, desde el acoso escolar y maltrato infantil hasta la situación de los inmigrantes o la anhelada búsqueda de la paz. Los artesanos especializados en proyectos infantiles buscan dejar claro que tienen mucho qué decir y que los ninots dirigido a los niños también pueden lanzar mensajes o críticas, en otras palabras, menos escenas inspiradas en cuentos o dibujos animados, y más ninots con carga solidaria y social, con un marcado propósito aleccionador. Pd. Aún así yo caí en el influjo de aquellos ninots que evocaban mi infancia.

In the Valencian fallas there are also ninots, of a smaller scale and of the same artistic quality, dedicated to children, some of them alluding to great children's characters. The children have their own papier-mâché figures and other materials that, far from being burned, usually give visual lessons on a myriad of issues, from bullying and child abuse to the situation of immigrants or the long-awaited search for peace. Artisans specialized in children's projects seek to make it clear that they have a lot to say and that ninots aimed at children can also launch messages or criticize, in other words, less scenes inspired by stories or cartoons, and more ninots with a solidarity and social charge, with a marked sobering purpose. P.S. Even so, I fell under the influence of those ninots that evoked my childhood.
