tastes like home - mykhailo mudryk.

it wasn’t that he hated coffee.

mykhailo loved his sleep and he felt like coffee ruined his strict schedule.

but ever since enzo had introduced him to a small café near his house, mykhailo had been addicted to it.

his order was different every time. it ranged from coffees and tea, to vanilla muffins or gingerbread men.

you were one of the baristas there who always happened to be on the till when he came in at night before bed.

“what can i get you today?” you asked, whispering a little due to the young mother and her baby in the corner who was sleeping soundly.

he scanned the rack of sweet treats to see what special things were on today and he stopped at the honey cake.

back home, his mother used to make a honey cake every week for him so when he saw it, he knew he had to have it.

“um, can i get a honey cake and a coffee please?”

“to go, or do you want to sit in?”

“to go, please.”

mykhailo didn’t really like sitting in places like this. even though he was a footballer, he wasn’t really self-confident enough to do so.

he found himself watching as you expertly made the drink like you’d probably done thousands of times.

“here you go.” he was cut out of his little spell with you holding his items out to him and he took them and gave you a short smile, leaving the café.

he decided to sit in this time.

it was about half an hour before closing time so there was no one inside other than him and you, who was doing the closing shift alone.

you were wiping the tables down when he decided to ask you the question he had wondering since the other day.

“who makes the cakes?”

looking up, you shrugged lightly whilst grabbing his plate with your free hands. “the owner usually, but i help when she’s not around.”

“that honey cake the other day was very nice. it reminded me of home.”

you knew he wasn’t from around here due to the accent, but you didn’t expect him to tell you he was from ukraine.

“what are you doing in england?”

“i work here.”

he was surprised you didn’t even know who he was, but it made him feel a lot better that there was one less person to judge him.

looking at your name tag, he wondered how he’d never noticed it before. y/n. it suited you.

when you left to go and put his plate in the dishwasher, mykhailo stood from his seat with his money. “here, keep the change.”

it was an extra ten pounds. you couldn’t. “no. it’s too much, please take it back.”

mykhailo smiled when he saw you following behind him through the reflection of the glass, so he turned to stop.

“how about you keep it and we go on a date sometime?”

“a-a what?”

it was enzo that had convinced him to finally ask. he had been speaking about you since he started going to the café and enzo was eager to see you both together.

“a date. you and me, anywhere you want,” he smirked at you. you forgot all about his change and you took a step backwards.

mykhailo thought he had done something wrong and perhaps made you uncomfortable, but you didn’t tell him to leave you alone.

instead, you grabbed a honey cake that you had been making to keep you busy, placing a slice in a bag for him.

“i’ll think about it,” you shrugged. mykhailo laughed, taking the bag with a curt nod. “okay, well let me know what you think tomorrow.”

when he left, you already knew what you were going to say.

but enzo’s words ran through your head which made you let out a giggle when closing up.

‘make him sweat for a little bit. he killed me in some game the other day and i want to get one back at him.’

I just wanted to say one thing. Why are we cancelling someone from what happened a year ago? From all black people I saw, they waren't offended. Singing the n-word isn't the same as saying it. Is everyone who now sings a part with it a racist? Huh? If you are offended by that, then simply don't make songs with things that everyone cannot sing.

I swear this blog is becoming a Mudryk fanpage and I am all for it!

I'm getting pretty tired with this generation that are chronically online and literally only live to cancel every single person, and do not even trying to find out why person did something or was true etc.

People are so pressed with Mudryk story, but if they tried to google why he posted Israel flag they would find out that it related to the tonight news of Israel attacking Iranian factories and warehouses. Then they would find out that Iran is selling to Russia drons and missiles that are killing Ukrainians every single day, and of course we are happy if someone would ruin warehouses where all that staff is located.

I would recommend people think before writing something or hating on someone, it really helps.
