Idk about other latines but lol just saw somebody be like "Everyone I've ever known that immigrated to the US was middle class and rich and that's why I dont take people in the diaspora into consideration". And I'm just like LOOOOOL ok....

#most of the people ive met who are first gen or immigrants themselves immigrated #because their life or their family's life was not sustainable to survival #like my moms family was literally impoverished #multiple of my central american friends moved here for similar reasons #its always the white argies and brazilians saying shit like this lol #like i get when people say we have to take a backseat in discussions of actually LIVING in the 3rd world #but its like also shit these constant generalizations are always made about how cushy we must have it when nah #if you look at a lot of our lives IN CONTEXT to living in the us we do not in fact have it cushy in american society #and that goes DOUBLY if youre afro latine but these same people love acting like they dont exist soo...
