In Moominpappa's Memiors, when Moominpappa is going over the big reveal over who Snufkin's mom is, Snufkin asks specifically if Little My is a relation.

If one only goes by the books, Little My has only been named dropped once in the entire series. Of course, the logical explanation is other events happened in between the books and that's when they got to know each other.

But, I'd like to think that Little My's reputation preceded her by so much that Snufkin has heard rumors about her on his travels. So when Moominpappa mentions her, his first thought is, "I'm related to that troublemaker? Sweet!"
