people in the custom distribution suggestions thread saying that they don't think customs should be site property are fucking baffling to me. we have one site artist. customs take up time and resources paid for by everyone, they should absolutely not be adoptable-style commissions, especially since they're often the only new pets on-site for huge swathes of time

making the pet separate from the chest is alright ig but now theres no chance at a pet discount damn... i doubt that the user feedback went "yeah i really wish we didnt have the option to get a discount on the monthly pet unless we bought three :)"

You know. It would've been cool if the Alpine Shepherd theme was ACTUALLY based off traditional Alpine shepherds, because from what I can find they were NOT what look like woolen knitted cozygirl fits. We could've had some really cool items with what look to be dried grass jackets and traditional vests (which would've given a chance for more masc clothing!!). The accents are cute but they look ENTIRELY from a different region if they're even based on one, which would've been fine if it was dubbed as such.

The designs overall don't bother me, but what does is the horrible naming because 'oooo alps are mountains yeah i can make this up heehee sheep that aren't even sheep they're cows but they actually look like dogs <3' WRONG. Folk nerds.

Just. Just name it as Bovine Shepherd and not Alpine Shepherd if you really want to draw weird little dog cows and aren't actually going to base it off the region style clothing please </3

super suspicious how quickly anji jumped onto a suggestion that was barely supported and only a month old while other suggestions take multiple pages of support, multiple forum posts and many months or years to even hear anji's feedback on it. I guarantee shes using it as an excuse to implement and the price increase.  no salt or fault on the users that suggested it, its ultimately anjis choice she decided to use it.

lol at j/cka/lope's "someone told that there are not too many typically "male" looking items on dv" thread male and masc are two different things, and it's true. "I think clothes have no gender" and yeah this is true, but there's a lack of good masc items on dv, the masc aurelian items are a good example of how non feminine items are poorly designed and drawn. not to mention the lack of masc black hairstyles on the site, we have the high top fade and the small afro and that's it.

at first i thought that the criticism of the game doing "cash grabs" was a little silly considering that they need to generate revenue somehow, but then i realized that (if i did the math correctly) it would cost over $50 CAD and 200kp just to get a premium seasonal pet and now i hate it here

if anji insists on keeping customs on the front page can she at least make it so it takes you to a full blank preview or make a thread for previews like the monthlies? digging through a players pet pens or forum history to have a chance at finding more than a thumbnail is annoying. not a fault of the custom owners, just anjis poor site design at work. good luck if its a limited in quantity or private clothing item that the custom owner decide not to currently wear or has 20 other pieces of clothing caked over it. if i cant own it i at least want to see what the sites resources are being wasted on, anji.

The day this salt blog ceases to post is one in which Quis should be acutely concerned. Actually, the fact it has slowed down so much already should be worrisome as it's just proving how little interest/interaction there is with DV. Not even custom discourse is getting the traction it once did and popular users are dropping out of existence with nary a word. I'm genuinely surprised she's doing little to nothing about it, but maybe she just doesn't care anymore.

i dont care that users asked for them, i honestly want there to never be monthly pets again. anji clearly cant be trusted to use user suggestions in responsible and noncashgrabby ways. we couldve had a beautiful balance of pai and oran pets and healthy breaks between but no. i want the entire concept ended now because im sick of seeing pai pet over pai pet. i would rather have no monthly pets at all than deal with glorified retired content ill never touch rotting on the site because it was never affordable to most users in the first place.

Hi i just wanted to pop in to enumerate of the 74 custom items i went thru and tried my best to ascertain the overall situation with custom clothing.

13.% custom owners have Quit/ Abandoned the account for a good while +1 Banned owner in this percentage of 'null owners'

any sales or auction of these items is no longer reflective of the owner bc they are 2nd hand market.

22.% sell for 10kp-399kp (most 300kp or less)

07.% sell for 399-999

17.% sell for a million++

++ - if someone trades for chests, chests are reliably mills+ so those owners are in this percentage by my count, and for reference just to highlight a spider georg of owners h3ll has over a 5th of the ++ category themselves.

41.% are private *

For private there were many motivations,  it's for their OC, not enough energy to dist

guild only loyalty

free quests/seasonal events as to not charge

personal use for personal reasons, which closely mirrors the original function and intent of customs-

limited slots due to "fatigue/availability" "trying to balance wanting private and making ppl happy by distributing some"-ect.but are sold out so all sales are second hand now.

over a 5th of * category are lucif3n+v10 once again some spider georg statistic spike.

This leads me to believe it is the manual communication nature of custom ownership that leads to this great gap in how things are done and user exp overall.  I think a market of some kind would help a lot, both is user exp improvement and moderation bc i think that will come with an automated market.

The secret custom economy is not real, and even most other custom owner's aren't welcome in  that "clique" bubble other players feel, bc the reality is that most custom owners don't know each other, never talk, had to hype themselves up to get their c4c trade turned down bc that user isn't interested in fem/masc items ect.  and the "clique" is really like, 6 players that looked around and realized no one invented the ceiling yet so they are gonna take it to the moon ASAP

Also vu3h, a custom owner did implement a price structure where so far they ask that custom owners pay them what they charge others, and instead M4hogi took advantage of the free distribution event.  Even tho M4hogi sells their sphinx lion for a mill a pop, noticed ig there were no rules against it.  Idk, what you described is basically there and those same few players are always gonna push the envelope/press their advantage.....
