I don't know if anyone else feels the same but to my sisters and I, Kai, Cole and Jay are the Idiot Trio. There's always a significant lack of brain cell function when the three of them are together. XD
Yeah I decided to start with my Ninjago art first (which are my most recent). After that I'll upload my older stuff chronologically, though I think I'll leave out my oldest (and worst) drawings.

I swear their reunion in Dragons Rising had better be good, like at LEAST as good as the spin-hug in Crystalized.

And now that I've seen season 2 I'm even more mad because literally NONE OF THE NINJA HAVE HUGGED ZANE!! Lloyd and Cole hugged immediately when they reunited and it was adorable as heck but Zane doesn't even get an affectionate nudge or something??

I was trying desperately to draw the Ninjago characters in the Monkie Kid style and failing, so then decided to straight-up do a redraw to get a feel for it. And actually the MINUTE I finished it I regretted not putting Wu in the middle instead of Zane, he's literally got a staff of his own he could've held. DX

Not entirely proud of this one, maybe I'll redraw the RGB sibs again at some point because I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THEM.
Their season 11 outfits were my favorites before Dragons Rising, despite it being one of the weakest seasons.

Finally starting Dragons Rising season 2!
Just my raw thoughts of the first three episodes, go:
*Spoilers* (in case there's anyone like me who still hasn't seen it)
Every time Ras is onscreen I just zone out, such a boring ass villain.
Rayu is bigger! How much time has passed??
Oh dear, influencers have made their way into Ninjago... oh well at least they don't seem to be a huge factor of the season.
OMG yes they acknowledged PIXAL as one of the missing ninja, bring her back too! 😭
Yo Cole get back here, Master Wu's ghost is RIGHT FLIPPING THERE!!?
Dang, new Master of Smoke packs a PUNCH, his fight scenes are pretty cool.
Would've been cool if it had been Ronan running that antiques shop... Seriously what happened to all the old side characters?? The new ones just don't hold a candle to them.
Speaking of, sorry to say, Erin and Sora are still pretty boring to me too. Like yeah they're cute but they just don't have the same amount of personality and charm as the OG gang.
Erin is kinda overdoing it with the whole "poor me, I don't have any Elemental powers" shtick. Makes me think he might put on one of those wolf masks on purpose at one point to potentially unlock some hidden powers or improve his Spinjitsu.
Annnnd Zane is left behind because the writers just don't know what to do with him besides robot jokes, as usual...
Every micro-second of Kai daddying Wyldfire gives me LIFE!
Likewise Nya big-sistering Lloyd whenever he's distressed. Someone working on the show is obviously a big fan of the RGB sibs. X3
YO-! IT'S WU!! Finally~! Okay yeah it was a vision but we finally see him fully and talking! Poor Lloyd, Wu would never say those things to him.
AND JAAAAAAYYYY!!! NYA AND JAY!! It's heart-breaking that their actual reunion might turn out just like that vision though. :'(
Glad his voice actor isn't making his voice so high-pitched anymore, though that could just be because he's still in Agent Walker mode.
Nya still the main holder of the group's brain cell with her realizing right away that the visions weren't real.
WHAT DID KAI SEE??? WHY DID HE LOOK SO UPSET, WHAT DID HE SEE!!

Why season 11 is my least favorite Ninjago season
Saw another post proposing a game where you name a season you hate and your followers/mutuals have to guess why, but since I haven't amassed enough Ninjago fan mutuals yet to do this I thought it'd just be fun to explain why Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu is my least favorite season:
So for the first couple episodes the ninja are just dicking around not doing anything useful and it looks like the season is going to be completely aimless - I remember first watching them and thinking "oh no, this is where it starts, the show's going downhill from here isn't it?". Then Wu says there's something he hasn't told them as usual and we get our first female snake villain and things finally seem to be picking up (I think people generally hate Aspheera but I think she's funny, and idc who you are you can't deny the fight against her with the ninja each using the staff with the Forbidden Spinjitzu was SO COOL). But then we come to the dreaded Never Realm which they've built up is supposed to be like one of the worst realms ever and... it's literally just a snow land?
Anyway Kai loses his powers again and the other ninja treat him like crap while he's unconscious for no reason except for comedy, my favorite ninja Zane is missing the entire season even though it was kinda supposed to half be HIS season (the plot twist of him being the Ice Emperor was pretty cool though, albeit really depressing), the Never Realm is really boring (and the shading on the characters was weird?), the villain pulling Zane's strings is boring (don't even remember his name), and those random episodes that would take place in Ninjago City following random background characters were annoying (the Paper Boys did grow on me though, what happened to them in Dragons Rising??).
Oh and to top it all off, by the end of the season they never like, let Zane unpack the fact that he was gone for 40 years living as a tyrant in another realm??? No no as soon as he's back everything is fine and dandy again! They never bring it back up! Like okay the Ice Emperor comes back for a bit in Crystalized but only superficially, they don't actually go into Zane's psyche or how that must have taken a toll on him or affected him in some way or ANYTHING!
Honestly this whole season felt like Wildbrain was still trying to find their footing with this show, figuring out how they wanted to do the characters and all that. They got better as they went on with each season afterward, but yeah season 11 was a very rocky start.

hey, I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but I'm pretty sure a large portion of the fanbase thought Cole was some form of gay or ace way before we got Geo in the show?
there was an entire episode that centered around him having to "come out" to his dad as a ninja when he was trying to reach his true potential in either the first or second season, & while we did have that whole "love-triangle" thing with Nya & Jay, he explicitly stated he had zero interest in Vania during Master of the Mountain.
this isn't meant to be rude or condescending at all, more of just a "you can't really be mad when he's felt like a queer allegory since his inception" kind of thing since you mentioned in one post that you should've seen the writing on the wall or something along those lines.
once again, I'm sorry if this came off as rude, it isn't meant to be.
Hey! No it's not rude, I appreciate the sincerity of the question. Alright, long read coming up, brace yourselves:
So first point: Most of the fandom has seen Cole as some form of ace/bi/gay for a long time. I was aware of that, but I don't think just because the majority of a fandom headcanons a character a certain way that that makes it true or even likely, and that I should accept it as well. For lack of a better word, I have a "heteronormative" worldview, and when I watch or read something, the sexuality of characters never even enters my mind (or at least it didn't used to); to me it's just, they either have a love interest, or they don't. I'm more attuned to noticing "signs" for that sort of thing now because modern media has sort of forced me to be, but Ninjago was old enough and had been running long enough without ever addressing sexuality that I thought it was something I would never really need to consider with it. It wasn't until Crystalized that I started to be on my guard for anything concrete, when a pride flag was clearly visible in a few episodes.
Now I don't discount the fact that a lot of the Ninjago fandom pegged Cole as gay, but that's their prerogative as fans - unless the writers of Ninjago had confirmed Cole's sexuality since the beginning, I think I was also well within reason to not have ever thought he would be gay (or at least not openly) even if a lot of people did. I just don't see characters that way unless, bar stating it outright, they are actually going out with someone or show clear romantic feelings towards another character. It's not what I look out for when I watch something with characters I enjoy - I like them for how they are, not what they are. So, yeah, whether you saw Cole as gay or not, it didn't really matter to me until he was actually shown with another male character in a romantic capacity. Heck, even if the writers had confirmed Cole was gay before then I wouldn't have cared as much (except a bit miffed that the fandom would've definitely been annoying about it and told everyone they couldn't ship him with certain characters), as long as I didn't have to actually see him be with another guy character.
Second, the "coming out" episode: This reminds me of something my brother told me just recently. He was mocking Western media, talking about some movie I forget but saying that it was basically an allegory for coming out (again I forget which movie but it definitely wasn't), and when I laughed he told me in his sarcastic way "yeah don't you know that every story ever is a coming out story?" What he meant is that it's very easy to take pretty much any story about a character not fitting in or not living up to someone's expectations, or just generally not feeling like they can be themselves - basically any story ever (because who HASN'T felt that way?) - and claim it as an allegory for being closeted, especially if you've grown up with that worldview that it's something normal and common; you're actively looking for it. To me, that episode with Cole was really just what it was: a guy finally lets his father know he doesn't share his passion for singing and dancing. I'm not going to accuse the part of the Ninjago fanbase that sees that as a coming out story of reading too much into it - for all I know, maybe the writers had intended it that way, though I don't think they've ever confirmed that - but I refuse to accept that that's the only way to interpret that episode. It's like all the people who insisted that Luca was an allegory for homosexuality even though the creator himself said that wasn't his intention - that's just the way they interpreted it. For me, it literally never even crossed my mind that that episode of Ninjago could be a metaphor for Cole's coming out to his dad until I made this tumblr account! Because I've seen this story many many times before without it ever having been that.
Third point: Cole stated he had no interest in Vania. I mean, I never used the Cole x Vania ship as a defense anyway, but I rewatched that scene, and like... of course he would say that? He literally had just met her that day? I mean okay maybe you could say that in comparison, Jay and Kai pretty much decided they were in love with Nya and Skylor respectively the day they met them, but we know Cole has always been the reasonable one between the three of them; he's not goofy and brash most of the time, he was kind of the leader before Lloyd became the green ninja, and not having romance in mind the minute you meet someone doesn't automatically mean "oh, they must not be into that person's gender" or whatever. Like to me that scene was pretty normal in regards to what we know about Cole and how he would react to one of the others getting on his case of falling for a princess - he's just rational about it.
Last point: I can't be mad about it, because it's been clear it was coming from the beginning. So I've explained why I don't think it was obvious since the very beginning that Cole would be gay, or at least that it's not unreasonable to believe he wouldn't be. I mean, seventeen seasons of the show is pretty long, the writers had plenty of opportunities to confirm it in the show itself or even by their own words if they had wanted. I have no idea of the details of what they're allowed to put in or if they're being restricted from showing certain things, but a lot of this show has been airing during years where LGBT themes and characters have been more accepted in animation (The Owl House, Strange World, Steven Universe, Voltron, etc.). So I can't think that Master of the Mountain, for example, which came out in 2020 and was a Cole-focused season, wasn't a missed golden opportunity for the writers to make Cole more obviously gay and give him a male love interest if they had wanted. Vania could've very easily been a prince instead of a princess without changing the story and I guarantee you at least as many people, if not more, would've still shipped "him" with Cole, and used him as an example for why Cole IS gay rather than why he ISN'T. I mean he twirled her around in one scene at the end of Crystalized... tell me that wouldn't have been gay as heck if she had been a prince. I don't make this argument for why Cole shouldn't be gay, I'm saying I have plenty reasons to believe that might not have been the intention of the writers. They could certainly have "kept" Cole straight and still let him be friends with a nice girl.
And now that it IS more obvious that even I know I'd be reaching if I claimed that Cole and Geo are just "good friends", the question is, can I be mad about it? Well, I'm not going to argue that from a morality standpoint, as debating over whether supporting homosexuality is right or wrong is a whole other issue and I'm sure no one on either side is going to be convinced of the others' reasons, especially not over the internet. But if you can just accept that I don't (and a good part of the Ninjago fandom besides me doesn't either), and the issue just becomes, can I be mad about it because this whole Cole-is-gay-now revelation seems to have come out of nowhere, at least from my perspective... then yes, I think I'm allowed. At least, I'm disappointed and resigned, because I've seen it happen with quite a few other fandoms and franchises I was fond of that I know I should expect the possibility in anything and everything now, even children's shows. It hurts to see something you love promoting something you vehemently don't think is right; it hurts more when you've already fallen so in love with it and couldn't see it coming.

Oh my gosh I loved the episode “The Administration” from Dragons: Rising! The one after it was great too, honestly the first really good episodes in part 2 so far. I’ve been despairing over how bland and boring this revival has been, what with the dragged out fetch quest for the dragon cores and the really uninteresting dynamics between the old and new characters (Wyldfire and Kai WOULD’VE been fun if she wasn’t so unlikeable, but even that was improved in these episodes). “The Administration” finally gave us an entertaining location (and by entertaining I mean SUS AF), and genuinely funny character moments rather than painfully unfunny jokes with obvious punchlines. Also, most importantly, FEELS! Oh my gosh I so love how they're doing Kai this season, he has matured and grown SO much and they’re really taking the time to show it (and also still OWNING the big brother role!), that conversation he had with Wyldfire where he talked about how he learned patience from Master Wu (during his depression when he LOST HIS SISTER T_T) was soooo cute! And then him just… literally being her dad in the next episode even while the others are there?? PLEASE, she is his daughter I don’t caaaaare!
And Zaaaaaane being awesome and a good boy, I’m so glad they brought him back, and that line from Lloyd, “Zane, not that we don’t love you,” aaaahh X3. And and and COLE SAYING GOODBYE TO NYA, WHY WAS THAT SO SAD AND WHERE ARE THEY SENDING YOU ANYWAY COLE??? You haven’t even seen the others yet, I need to see huuuugggs!!!
Oh my God and my sisters going absolutely nuts the whole episode begging for Jay and him STILL catching them by surprise just suddenly appearing out of nowhere XD. BUT WHY DID WE LEAVE HIM THERE, YOU GET HIM RIGHT BACK!
Phew, so yeah, the villains still suck, and Sora and Arin are still really boring, but at least the heart of the OG ninja is slowly returning.

Oh yeah re; the previous person's ask, I forgot to talk about the whole Cole and Nya debacle, and that was because I actively forget that plot line even ever existed in the first place and expunge it from my mind because it was so terrible. Like that was literally one of the MOST forced love triangle sub-plots I've ever seen, talk about coming straight out of nowhere (no pun intended). I know there are people who've used it to defend Cole's straightness but like HONESTLY, you could see the whole time he was never actually interested in Nya, I always saw it more as just him feeling a little flattered/thinking the whole thing was funny and then just getting mad at Jay when he overreacted (also the whole thing was Misako's fault with her dumb comment, encouraging Nya to be a two-timer like her).
But I think we all know the REAL reason that whole bit existed was because some executive saw how smoothly the Jaya ship was going and was like "nah man, kids don't want to see romance it's boring, they want to see something funny, how about make Jay and Cole fight over Nya the whole season that'd be hilarious".

Okay this is the first time I'm seeing this and I love it so much???
Like oh my gosh whoever made this did amazing, the TRANSITIONS, the way a lot of the scenes match up with the lyrics and beat, ugghhh! Only thing that would've made it more perfect is if it had continued with Seabound and Crystalized!
And why am I getting nostalgic over the first two seasons with the original song?? I literally just watched this show last year but it makes me want to cry! They were just four stupid teens fighting snake people and a little brat, they didn't know what they were doing. XD
Bro season 5 deserved way more time though it was so goooood! Also one of the best versions of the theme.
STILL mad that Day of the Departed was just one measly special episode rather than a whole Cole-focused season like it should have been. :(
The Hands of Time version of the theme is also one of my favorites, and I don't care that people hate on that season I liked it.
And how did this make season 11 look so badass when it was the lamest season??
And like seriously, HALF of all the reasons Dragons Rising can't ever be as good as the main show is because it doesn't have The Weekend Whip, I'm sorry it's true.

Okay, just needed a day or two to reach the acceptance phase of my grief over losing another show to the rainbow people... But I'm still sad because I know that it can only get worse from here - today it's holding hands and simpering looks, tomorrow it's a full on declaration, or someday even... ugh, don't even wanna say it... I have to feel apprehensive every time I watch this show now (and I kinda already had been ever since I started season 8 to be honest - with Cole's redesign actually). I mean I guess I should at least be grateful that it was neither Kai or Jay who were made Cole's gay interest, which was what I'd been MOST dreading - better some rando I don't care about than either of them, ruining an already existing good friendship I love.
Speaking of which, guess I'll talk about the latest episodes I've watched now, which are 7 and 8: (4-6 didn't have much that was noteworthy, at least nothing positive - why won't any of the Ninja hug Zane when they see him dammit!)
WE GOT A COLE AND JAY FLASHBACK AAAAHHH IT WAS SO CUTE!
Yeah it was brief but gosh it was good seeing them goofing around again.
But why didn't you call him your best friend instead of "teammate" Cole?? Like Zane calling the others "friends" instead of brothers in the Crystalized finale. :(
So much Nya and Kai sibling moments this season ugh, that flashback of them as babies!!
AND ANOTHER SPINNING HUG EEEEEEEEEE THAT WAS TOO CUTE HOW HAPPY KAI WAS WITH HER!!
The opening spoiled it already but it's so great that Kai is being given time to shine being the only one to master the new dragon technique.
It's also nice to see Cole and Zane team up again, even if they're not as goofy and fun as they used to be. Hey it's been years, they're older.
JAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!
Please tell me that ball of light is Wu and he'll help Jay remember!
Are they seriously going to pull An American Tale like this every season with Jay ahahaha omg I can't believe this!
Bruh Kai and the others should've been a lot more worried about everyone who fell off the ship, like I know characters have survived long falls 100% of the time throughout the show but you don't KNOW they survived! XD
Goodbye to the Bounty again. XD No worries, the cute family pictures on the walls always survive.
