     Miles is legally dead in every post-Murkoff verse (so post-Outlast FC5; Marvel; SW; etc.) The reasons are generally the same across verses — either Murkoff staged an accident, or they simply used an incident such as what occurred at his apartment in the comics as a believable cause. Either way, the paperwork is filed, and his ‘death’ means that hunting him down and eventually bringing him back in will raise fewer questions. If he’s already dead then no one will think twice when he disappears.

     SW verse is the only verse in which Miles isn’t physically dead as well, as the Walrider doesn’t exist in that universe.
