There goes my valentine again
Soaked in red for what she said
And now she's gone!
Oh my god have I done it again?!
There's a pulse and it's deafening!
I can't help what I hear in my head!
It's the switch that I flick

Understanding the Various Structured Cabling Components
Tumblr media
Structured cabling facilitates communication among hardware devices in a building through cable and wire organization. Networks achieve this organization through components that serve as the installation framework.
The entrance facility is the starting point for structured cabling. This location is where the external network from the service provider links with an internal network of an organization or residence. The entrance has a demarcation point, where the service provider's network ends and customer’s wiring begins, and common equipment for protection, connecting devices, and cabling components.
Upon arrival at the building, the network links with the internal wiring infrastructure in the equipment room. This room is the designated storage space for power sources, network switches, servers, private branch exchanges (PBXs) for telephone networks, and patch panels that enable cable connections. For the smooth functioning of these components, this room must be at optimal temperature and humidity levels to avoid overheating and failure.
While the equipment room is designed for hardware and server connections, the telecommunication room is where cross-connection of the horizontal and backbone cables happens. The telecommunication room also houses essential networking equipment, such as routers, switches, servers, and patch panels, which link all outlets or workstations on a floor to the central server, making it a vital component of the structured cabling system.
The cabling infrastructure that connects the entrance facility, equipment room, and telecommunication room is called backbone cabling or riser cabling. This infrastructure includes cable pathways that provide routing spaces for cabling, connecting hardware (such as connecting blocks and patch panels), and backbone wiring made of twisted-pair copper, coaxial cable, or optical fiber.
Horizontal cabling, which uses coaxial, fiber-optic, or copper cable, links telecommunications rooms to end-user equipment. Usually, this cable is limited to approximately 295 feet long and has functions, specifications, and running paths that contrast with those of backbone cabling. Unlike backbone cabling, which runs between floors, horizontal cabling mainly runs along a single floor. These two types of cabling also have different strength and fire-rating specifications.
The work area is the culmination of a structured cabling system, serving as the endpoint where users plug into communication outlets and patch panels. The work area comprises hardware, including computers, laptops, and telephones, that individuals depend on for daily tasks. Components such as network interface cards (NICs), Ethernet cables, and wall jacks that connect end-user equipment to the horizontal cabling infrastructure are also here.
Structured cabling is essential for handling the intricate networks of many organizations, including educational campuses, hospitals, and warehouses. This technology facilitates seamless adjustments to evolving technology demands and empowers IT departments to troubleshoot and manage their networks, which is critical in industries such as health care. Additionally, the technology simplifies the installation of voice and data communication equipment, and its adoption ensures compatibility with emerging systems.
ANSI/TIA 568 and ISO/IEC 11801 are the two primary standards for structured cabling. ANSI/TIA 568 provides guidelines for performance and technical specifications for cabling systems and design direction for telecommunication equipment and commercial organizations. ISO/IEC 11801 is an international standard regulating structured cabling systems in IT systems that undergoes a review every five years to ensure up-to-date compliance with technological developments.

Here’s Why Everyone Is Talking About A Pirate Drama That Ended In 2017
Black Sails has been described as Game of Thrones with pirates
If Black Sails kicked off in 2020 instead of 2014, it certainly would have thrown fuel on the raging fire that was TikTok’s sea shanty obsession. The reality is that this TV series aired on Starz from 2014 for four seasons, coming to a close in 2017. So why is everyone talking about it now, a decade after it began?
Black Sails is coming to Netflix very soon, triggering its fans to emerge from the woodwork and promote the show online. ‘I am SO excited for people who’ll be watching this show for the first time,’ one user wrote, with many others recommending the series to fans of Game of Thrones. With House of the Dragon still a few months away, here’s why you should tune into Black Sails this month.
Tumblr media
New To Netflix: Black Sails
What Is Black Sails About?
Black Sails transports us back to 1715 – aka the Golden Age of Piracy. Set in New Providence, an island in the Bahamas, we meet the feared Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) who brings a new younger crew member into the fold (‘Long’ John Silver, played by Luke Arnold) as his crew continues to fight for survival and negotiate their space on the island.
Is Black Sails Based On A Book?
Black Sails was written as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island (1883).
Tumblr media
Is It Based On A True Story?
While Black Sails isn’t based on a true story, it does trace real events. The first season focuses on the hunt for the Spanish treasure galleon Urca de Lima, a real ship that sank in 1715 near Fort Pierce in Florida (where it still lies). Season two traces the fallout of Urca de Lima’s treasure being stranded in Florida, strictly guarded by Spanish soldiers while pirates prowl the shores. The subsequent third and fourth seasons then look at the war for the control of New Providence between the pirates and the British Empire – a la Pirates of the Caribbean.
Likewise, some of the characters are based on real people. Real pirates fictionalised in the show include:
Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson)
Anne Bonny (Clara Paget)
Benjamin Hornigold (Hakeem Kae-Kazim)
Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz)
Charles Vane (Zach McGowan)
Ned Low (Tadhg Murphy)
Israel Hands (David Wilmot)
Meanwhile, Captain Woodes Rogers (Luke Roberts) – who represents the British Empire in seasons three and four – is based on a real English sea captain and slave trader, and subsequently the first Royal Governor of the Bahamas.
Tumblr media
Was Captain Flint A Real Pirate?
Captain Flint is a fictional character who was first created by Robert Louis Stevenson in Treasure Island. He has since appeared in multiple works of fiction, including A. D. Howden Smith’s Porto Bello Gold (1924), John Drake’s Flint and Silver (2008), Pieces of Eight (2009) and Skull and Bones (2010), and J. M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy (1904).
Where Was Black Sails Filmed?
Black Sails was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, mainly inside at Cape Town Film Studio. Because the real city is so different today than it was in the 1700s, Nassau – the capital of the Bahamas, located on New Providence island – was built from scratch in a studio over a period of four months, as were two large water tanks to house the series’ two ships. Some scenes were filmed outside in and around Cape Town when new terrain was required, but most of the series was filmed on set.
Tumblr media
The Cast
The cast of Black Sails is incredibly large, but key characters to know include:
Toby Stephens as James McGraw/Captain Flint
Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie
Luke Arnold as ‘Long’ John Silver
Jessica Parker Kennedy as Max
Tom Hopper as William ‘Billy Bones’ Manderly
Zach McGowan as Charles Vane
Toby Schmitz as Jack Rackham
Clara Paget as Anne Bonny

A Study in Celluloid: A Producer's Account of Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes by Michael Cox
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I was looking forward to my first meeting with a classical actor who had a marvellous voice and the appearance of a Sidney Paget illustration from The Strand Magazine. Granada wanted a name who would be acceptable in the US market so that the series could be sold there in advance of production. Jeremy satisfied all the criteria but that did not mean that he would automatically accept. He had an actor's understandable fear of being trapped in one part, never to be offered anything else afterwards particularly this part. He had done his homework and knew that the later career of Basil Rathbone had been cruelly restricted because he was so indelibly associated with Sherlock Holmes. We talked about my plans for a series which would be faithful to Conan Doyle and made to the same high standard as the other classic adaptations for which British television was becoming famous. He was interested, enthusiastic even, but not of course prepared to commit himself irrevocably until there were dates and figures on paper. So we talked about everything else under the sun and began to find that we enjoyed each other's company. We drank a lot of wine between the four of us and spent about £100 of Granada's money, which was quite a restaurant bill for 1981. Towards the end of the evening a very damp and rather bedraggled flower girl asked the manager if she could try to sell pots of plastic flowers to the last customers. Jeremy bought the remains of her stock and was not just charming-which any handsome actor might have been -but genuinely interested in how the girl was supplementing a student grant, what she was studying and when she was going to get into some dry clothes. She had come in feeling like Eliza Doolittle at the start of Pygmalion and went out feeling like Audrey Hepburn at Ascot." --Michael Cox, A Study in Celluloid

Pronouns: She/Her.
From: Australia 🇦🇺.
Sexuality: Bisexual. Although, I am far more attracted to women than I am men and I don't actually think I could sleep with a man.
Favourite Colour: Blue, it's a very certain shade of blue.

Age of Ultron, Black Widow, Winter Soldier!
Tumblr media
Some facts...
I have 3 dogs & a cat. 2 dogs are mine, one is my mothers but we basically just share all the pets are they are family. Their names are; Duggie, Archie & Fat Tony. Our cat's name is Mazda, yes, after the car brand lmao!
I've met Toby Sebastian (Florence's brother) & TYGA.
I have a store on RedBubble where I sell designs on mostly my faves.
I rather TV Shows over Movies, my favourite show being Bones.
I'm currently studying Cert. 4 in Design to help enhance my skills within the digital design/art world.
My music taste is mostly Rap, Hip/hop, R&B, a little pop & plenty of 90s-2000s R&B and Hip/Hop.
I collect Funko Pops! Trading cards and comics. Mostly of my faves as I don't have enough room to collect everything lmao.
Apple over Android.
I have authentic autographs from; Elizabeth Olsen, Paget Brewster, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, David Harbour & Toby Sebastian.
I own props from the TV Show, Bones. I have Booth's tie, Brennan's gold bracelet & a business card from both Booth and Sweets!
I love Whales, especially orcas and begluas.
My number 1 destination to travel to is Rio de Janeiro.
I am dyslexic, unfortunately this was something I only found out a few years ago (my mother always knew, she just didn't want to tell me for self esteem reasons). It's hard to say if I have moderate or severe dyslexia. Moderate or severe dyslexia just means the level of severity of the difficulties you may have. There is no hard and set rules as to cut off points because there are different issues that need to be taken into consideration.
I love gold and rose gold over silver. Goes better with my skin lmao.
Tumblr media
I'm more than happy to add to this etc, but I hope you enjoyed this little getting to know me 💖

The Dying Detective
This is our first story from the fourth volume of the canon, "His Last Bow".
Sidney Paget having died in 1908, The Strand got various other artists for the illustrations. This one was done by his brother Walter, who may or may not have been the model for Sherlock.
Tapanuli fever may have been based on the recently discovered melioidosis, a bacterial disease spread by contaminated soil or water, that kills around 89,000 a year. Even with modern antibiotics, the death rate can be 10%.
Formosa was the Western name for what is now called Taiwan.
Rotherhithe was a docks area on the south side of the Thames. The docks closed in the 1980s. It is now gentrifying due to improved transport links, namely Canada Water station, which I have used as an interchange between Jubilee Line and Overground any times. Michael Caine was born there. Not a lot of people know that.
General Practitioner or GP for short is the Commonwealth/former Empire team for a family doctor.
Belladonna, aka deadly nightshade or atropine, was used by women in Renaissance to dilute their pupils and appear more attractive. It does have medical uses though.
Needless to say, you should not try what Sherlock Holmes does at home.
