There are so many huge diamonds on this platform, but it's nice to consider a more subtle option. Here's a lineup of some of Melanie Casey's favorite 1/2ct. diamond rings. Featured here are the Poppy Seed Ring, Threaded Ring, Corset Ring, Lady's Slipper Ring, and Tempo Ring.
Fine jewelry designer Melanie Casey gives her insight on how she designs rings:
I've found that the large diamonds make it too easy to lean on the impact of the big sparkly diamond instead of intentionally designing every tiny detail of the setting. All of my designs scale up beautifully to any carat size, but they look equally as thoughtful and detailed in a smaller carat size.
Pro-tip: If you're considering a diamond engagement ring in the 0.3ct. to 0.5ct. size range, look in a quality range of SI1-VS1 and color of H or higher. Invest your budget in the setting. The ring design matters just much (if not more) in this size range.

The Threaded Ring with a 1ct. oval cut diamond focal stone styled with the pear diamond Counterpart Band, all from fine jewelry designer Melanie Casey.
Counterpart has been worn as an engagement ring on its own, as an alternative to the traditional diamond focal. It adds some weight and dimension to a bridal stack when worn alongside a solitaire. It truly is a band that can do it all.
This piece is often selected by clients to wear as a right hand ring, to represent an important relationship or memory other than getting married.
What do you think? Is Counterpart an engagement ring, a wedding band, or a special right-hand ring? (All of the above can be an answer too! 😉)

Comparing fine jewelry designer Melanie Casey's Whisper Ring and Threaded Ring!
Our most popular cut is round, and our simple solitaire styles are always a top pick. It's hard to get a feel for the difference between these two styles without a side-by-side comparison. They look very similar from the top down view, but the difference is all in the side details.
The Whisper Ring is a 6-prong open basket on our signature slim ring band. This is out most simplified engagement ring in the collection. Whisper is shown here with a 1.2ct. round cut diamond.
The Threaded Ring is out triple prong style, which is shown here with a 1ct. round cut diamond.
Check out both these gorgeous rings (and more!) on our website. Which one will you choose?

Let's talk about prongs!
Here at Melanie Casey Fine Jewelry, we offer three solitaire styles with single, double, and triple prongs. We'll give you a little cheat sheet to help you along:
Single prong = Whisper Ring
Double prong = Filament Ring
Triple prong = Threaded Ring
These are style choices only! All three settings are equally strong and protective of the focal diamond.
This clip shows a comparison of each style. They each have prongs at the four corners, but they're all a little different from the side view! This is also a great carat size comparison for square cushion cut diamonds. These are 1ct, 2ct, and 3ct cushion cut diamonds.
All of these are available on our website now, but if you need any help while looking for your perfect new addition, you can contact us and we can help you with everything!

Fine jewelry designer Melanie Casey gave her best tips to get the biggest looking diamond on a budget, stating that rose cut tends to look a little bit bigger with cushion cut looking smaller. Another tip was to add diamonds around the focal stone to give it a larger look.
This shows exactly what she meant! These focal diamonds in the Luminary Ring and the Threaded Ring are the same carat weight - 1 carat!
Cushion cut is gorgeous with tons of depth and sparkle, but to get the same look as a 1ct. in a different cut, you'll have to go up a bit in the carat weight. Rose cut is the most extreme opposite end. It's flat on the bottom so it looks bigger than all faceted styles. It doesn't have the depth, but it's still beautiful.

The 2ct. oval cut diamond Threaded Ring with Halo from Melanie Casey is styled here with her simple gold Pairing Band and a five stone diamond Prelude Band.
The Prelude Band is often selected as a family ring and added to the set for an anniversary or special milestone. It has hidden diamond details along the side and can be worn as a wedding band or a ring for the right hand. The sky is the limit with a band as meaningful as this.
