Log #3 [merch]

Managed to bang out some halloween buttons before too late! also charms came in which is very 👀👀

These ST halloween buttons have half been planned since august lmao. Sat my ass down and actually got them done, which I can’t say about half of my other button ideas. Also have some Archie halloween buttons that I’ve done but am running to the print next week so it won’t make the halloween deadline OTL  (I also totally ripped off the below button’s styles but psh its fine)

I was planning on making a sell post for these but idk...still feels really weird doing it. But it is on up on etsy so ppl who go down ST character tags should see it (if they go all the way to the back aha).

Pastel (+ variant) monster buttons that are for an upcoming kickstarter? They’re originally enamel designs, but converted them into keychain & buttons designs cuz I wanted to play with more colors. They’re all holographic which is honestly the coolest thing I’ve got my hands on in a while :))  I don’t actually make original merch so probably won’t be happening again, but it’s fun to do even if no money comes from it lol

Bit of a weird story on how these actually came about...basically got so sick of my usual style that I went and tried to do a 180 with it. Kind of worked? This is actually the second iteration of them, which is more of a half-way point between my usual + the New Thing, and is kinda interesting looking. Not changing my usual style but I did sketch out about 24 characters in this style so might make those into buttons? idk. Overall have been having a crisis over my art which eh, happens once every few months

LASTLY: CHARMS CAME IN! All the SW ones are re-prints besides Maul, who I got commissioned to do and was very very fun to make! Was really worried about the Polaroid charms, and I’m so glad they turned out alright? Was really worried about most of them since I had to tweak the artwork after the sample and didn’t know what they would look like until they came in... Can’t start shipping them out yet cuz I’m waiting on the lil charms to come in so I can attach them, which are.2 weeks late at this point lmao.

Either way, ‘tis a bountiful round, and am extra excited to get some pics of the polaroid charms outside once they’re complete !

Log #2 [shirts]

Shirts from Printful came in! Over a week late, so I thought DHL lost them but guess not (thank god).

Originally there were suppose to be 3, but one got canceled due to copyright issues smh (was a SW thing, not surprised disney is on their game)(surprised the stranger things one didn’t get me in trouble though?)

First one is from a zine I did for class a whiles back that I realized I could make into a shirt! Lowkey wish I made the print a bit bigger, but at least the entire graphic is visible up front (my other shirts have that issue).

Was going to hack the sleeves off the pool shirt, but now that summers over I probably won’t do that? This sample print order was planned to happen at the beginning of April, but alas COVID happened. Won’t have a chance to wear the pool shirt out since I have no nerve to wear series related merch outside of summer.

One thing that really gets my goats is the hit and miss quality from Printful?? The left example is like.....extremely detailed and clear, but the left one (back label from one of my other shirts) is so? offset? The camera doesn’t pick up on it well, but it’s so obvious in person lmaooo. The color chart shirt I printed from them is also illegible so squints.

I’m guessing it’s the fact that they had to do multiple layers of color since it’s on black (aka white base coat first), and both the encyclopedia & hawkins shirt is just one layer/color on the shirts so they came out Really really well. Just really frustrating since all my other shirts are meant to be printed on black :/ (fk my aesthetic).

Either way! Now I have 3 shirt designs that I can put up in my shop sometime (not putting the hawkins shirt in my shop, would get in trouble for sure lmao) (though now I kind of really want to make a mind flayer shirt....)

Log #1 [prints]

Is this me trying to emulate the old dA journal feelings? Maybe :) Just want to journal tbh

Ran over to the print shop today and got some new things printed, mainly the some witcher buttons:

They turned out alright? Some of the school ones (manticore mainly) need some tweaking for visibility, but other than they look good to go. Not sure if I’ll make a sales post for these guys, but might after I get the other witcher buttons reprinted & fixed up.

Also got roach & co. out and they look good! The stuffed unicorn one looks really creepy (but that’s the point I guess lol).

Bonus billy for an international buyer because I always feel bad when shipping costs more than the item itself OTL. I’ve been sitting on a set of stranger things button WIPs for over half a year now, and only just pulled billy out of my ass. Might try to get all 13 (+ variants) by next week if I can force it out of myself...

Since I had some issues with the hux shirt (copyright issues 🥴) I went to also get some prints done:

Had to pull random mini prints out of my ass, since up until a week or so ago this entire year was a dry spell 🙃 But these turned out alright. (shoutout to my print shop for doing gore too, I’m so sorry you had to look at badly drawn guts).

BUT the one thing I had to go get printed did not. Turn out well.

I’ve always had colors issues with these guys (sister shop of my usual shop, closed due to COVID) and I can’t ever get the mf color profile out of these guys! Like jfc how many times do I have to adjust my crap to get it anywhere near what my original piece was?? 

But the darkest gray for this print went straight to one shade above black. I expected it to be a bit darker, but I had to tilt it in the sunlight to even get any sort of difference between the gray foreground and black bg. Frustrating but I’ll just have to get it reprinted next time sigh.

Either way, it’s always exciting to print digital art & hold new buttons up in the sun to get that gleam :’)
