God that's valid though
My childhood best friend 10/10 I love the gal, however I'm never forgetting I watched the movie 'the imitation game's about Alan Turing- the historical based movie about the gay guy who helped crack the Nazi codes right? About how he ended up outed as a gay man after he made the turing machine to crack the uncrackable codes, then was put on hormone injections that essentially ruined him bc he was either to have that or go to jail?
Horrible stuff
I remember a bit into the movie I was saying how I felt about the movie and I clearly remember the girl staring at this tragic event that happened retold saying "I don't really care about it so far, I just wanna see two guys fuckin'."
MA'AM HE IS LITERALLY TOLD GO TO JAIL OR TAKE THESE INJECTIONS THAT WILL RUIN YOU FOR LIKING MEN AFTER HE SAVED LIVES FROM BREAKING A NAZI CODE AND ENDS UP COMMITTING SUICIDE, SHOW SOME RESPECT DAMNIT STRAIGHT WOMAN(not to vent but point is I get it)
my cishet isn't that bad, thankfully 😭 like, she recognises that she is a GUEST in queer spaces & she does act accordingly. she recognises that she should NEVER bring her cringefail cishet bf along, esp, bc he would be a massive threat to the safety of people within queer spaces (esp queer women). so she's good 😭 Patricia we love you! <3
yeah, I mean, I grew up hearing abt Alan Turing (bc I'm British), and like... the royal family were complicit, 100%, bc they KNEW what he'd done for this country & for the ENTIRE allied forces - and they still allowed it to happen. they were ALL complicit (but they also sided w Nazis anyway so 🤷🏻‍♂️ no surprise!). but for everything that he did, he was chemically castrated & murdered for it - he was a fucking hero, yet Winston Churchill (a fucking fascist cunt) was allowed to walk free.
The Imitatiom Game, unfortunately, does a PISS FUCKIN POOR job at portraying Turing & the man behind the hero that cracked the code, bc Turing was actually a very decent, polite, and kind person who was loved and valued through his life. berrywinkle cucumberslag owes every queer person in the UK £50000 EACH for how he butchered Turing tbh, and so do the producers, directors, other cast mates, screenwriters, etc.
yeah, ngl, I've had comments like that before tonnes. I've had cishets tell me & men I've been with that it'd be "so hot" to watch us kiss, or that it's "such a turn on" to see us just... sitting around and chatting. and tbqh, it's fucking weird - the fetishisation is dehumanising, 100%. it's dehumanising, it's gross, it clearly paints the picture that they see queerness as a fucking KINK. and like, it's especially prevalent online where someone like me (w the fuckin url MLM x reader, which you'd think would give a hint!!) has just a massive fucking block list of cishets who have been annoying & weird on my posts. whether that's bc they said something weird and fetishistic on a completely sfw fanfic I've written, or bc they've tried to take what I'VE said abt wanting to be physical w other men and gone "I VOLUNTEER!" like, no. this is abt men who wanna be w other men. go take a seat maybe erm.... somewhere else.
bc like, do I wanna EXCLUDE cishets completely? no! a few of them are decent! (like my mutuals & friends - they are nice. they can stay.), but all the same I don't wanna be treated as if either 1. my sexuality is a fucking KINK to these people, or 2. my posts abt being attracted to men as a man are somehow "welcome" to cishets. they aren't. me expressing my sexuality as a queer man is NOT your space! the same as a queer woman expressing her sexuality is NOT my space! learn it.
this is really long but yeah, I'm annoyed tbh. I'm really fuckin annoyed.

Okay but like Ace was abt breaking Taemin out of his "kid" image by showing a sexier side to Taemin, firmly declaring that the little kid from SHINee is now an Experienced Adult. The innocent boy with a bowlcut and puppy eyes secretly has an edge to him, a hint of danger and sharp sex appeal. It's designed to make anyone familiar with Taemin look twice, to catch their interest with the "little boy all grown up and gone bad" narrative. Yet, at the same time, he still acts like the same shy boy ppl are familiar with offstage. He covers his eyes at the mention of his own erotic appeal, and cutely messes up and is a bundle of nerves. So maybe, this bad boy isn't really bad - a reassurance he's still the innocent kid you know.
The PYN mv sees Taemin struggling with an evil version of himself - a cool gang leader who robs gas stations without breaking a sweat and crashes in a beautiful mansion with his friends - who has an edge of disillusionment and discontent about him. He feels like he has Hidden Depths. Yet, at the same time, there's still the innocent Taemin, a victim who attractively rolls around on the floor while tied up, and who is literally interchanged w a conventionally attractive young women. Who is beautiful and needs to be rescued. You get both for the price of one - sexy danger Taemin and beautiful helpless Taemin. It's unclear who wins - but whatever flavor of love interest you want, he's there.
Then Sayonara Hitori literally sees Taemin struggling with the dark part of himself. In the duet with Koharu he feels like an innocent, but in the MV he feels powerful and dangerous. Then in Flame of Love, he's an innocent victim again. A man who was in a car accident, who's looking for his lover and being teased by a mysterious woman. He's helpless and pure again.
In Move, Taemin has agency. You're looking at him because he WANTS you to look at him. He has complete control over you, you dance with him without thinking, an addictive look in an addictive dance for an addictive song. It embraces it's duality and plays with it - something for everyone. You, too, can act like this. Can feel like this. He's in control and he knows it. Power is addicting, everyone wants to feel that way. But it's also attractive. Confidence is a key point when it comes to finding someone attractive or not. Taemin has power in spades in Move.
In Day&Night, Taemin is passive again. He's meant to blend in more with his surroundings than to command them. Of course, he still commands them, but it's softer this time. Move, but less fierce. If you like coyness, then it's for you. The lyrics talk about love and hookups and reaffirm, again, that Taemin is Experienced. He knows what he's talking about. He's no longer the innocent little boy anymore.
In Under My Skin, Taemin is lost. He wanders around and sings his heart out because he just wants to be loved. He is innocent again, a little fragile. But he is still beautiful. Beautiful and hurting, so you want to help him. A glimpse of the man behind the Move facade, hurting. Innocent and compelling.
Want revels in it's corruption - it blatantly declares that it is going to corrupt you too. An invitation, come be corrupted by Taemin. He is completely confident in his appeal. He knows it is undeniable and powerful. This Taemin is for people who want to surrender control, who want to be taken over. You literally cannot resist him, but at the same time he refuses to completely satisfy you. He wants to leave you hanging and coming back for more. There is nothing innocent about this Taemin -- he uses his innocence to lure you in. He promises that you can be in control, if that's what will make you come to him. He has been throughly corrupted and now he's corrupting others. There is no trace of the little bowlcut boy he was before. But. At the same time. Offstage, he's still the same shy, nervous, cute young man he's always been. There's still something for those who love innocent Taemin - a reassurance that he really is still the same! It's all an act, because he can be both dirty and sweet.
Famous is a Taemin who knows he's been corrupted and is disillusioned by it. This Taemin is dangerous, he plays with guns and crashes cars and could snap at any moment. He is angry and he is sexy, because he feels on the edge of abandoning everything. It feels like he has given up control. He knows the game, he knows he's being played, but he doesn't care. A beautiful, sexy boy that you want to fix. A bad boy that can still be saved. Under My Skin and Famous feel like two versions of the same fantasy - one where you can rescue him.
In 2 Kids, Taemin is innocent again. It feels like he's shed all that corrupting darkness and is lighter. He wanders around, reminiscing. He doesn't regret his dark period, so it's still safe to want it. You love him because you feel like you've been on this journey of corruption vs innocence with him. There's an emotional connection. He's safe, an innocent, so you love him. He's the soft boy he was in the beginning, that he's really secretly always been. But he has depth now, a lingering sadness and maturity that wasn't there before.
And, finally, in Criminal he circles back around to PYN. There's both the innocent Taemin and the corrupting Taemin. He's wild and out of control and sexy because of it. He sends a shiver down your spine, and it feels like he's completely lost. He's dark and disillusioned and confident. He takes off his binds with his teeth, he looks you right in the eye. He has to be held back by the people around him. He promises danger and excitement. And yet, he is still writhing beautifully on the floor, helpless and in need of saving. And just like in PYN, he's both at the same time, whatever flavor of love interest you want. Completely corrupted, but still redeemable.
Innocent, but corrupted. Corrupted, but innocent. Beautiful and sexy. Cute and helpless. Everything, all at once. And you got to see all of it.

i was wondering, WHY do u like math? like, i personally dont understand bc i have a learning disorder that makes numbers not work in my brain, yknow? so i was wondering why u like it, bc i never hear ppl say nice things about math! shaohsso i hope this doesnt sound weird im genuinly interested and i really dont want u to think im trying to shit on ur harmless interests! im just curious! 💚
no its okay lol!
i think for me i liked it growing up because it really clicked with me and like. it just made sense? and there was always a Right Answer, which made it feel more concrete to me? i like history and english and stuff too, but its always been harder for me because i’ve always felt like there was never a Right Way to do it, and i’ve always been a rule follower so having stuff like trig identities that were Always True and Always worked was like really comforting for me?
and then now its more like puzzle solving to me? because with a lot of abstract shit there isn’t necessarily a Solid Answer like there is with computational math, and there’s always a hundred ways to solve a problem, but like. proving a theorem is kind of solving a riddle in a lot of ways? in that you’re given a set of rules, a set-up, and then you have to figure out how to use those rules to get from the set up to the conclusion. and like. there are plenty of times that i dont get it, but when i do it feels like ive just solved a really big puzzle kind of? like i get the same satisfaction and sense of pride? and there are a lot of really cool patterns in math that show up in every branch of it, and a lot of branches that dont seem like math at all, and its just so big and diverse?
like. there’s a youtube channel called numberphile that was really my first exposure to like. math that isnt always Algebra and Trigonometry and calculating things. I remember an episode they did about the enigma code the nazis used in ww2 to encrypt their messages and how it was ALMOST impossible to crack, but it had ONE flaw that a now famous mathematician used at the time to figure out a way to break it. and i was like???? you can use math to fight nazis????? and thats what my gay father, alan turing, did!!!! he used math to fight nazis!!!! and cracking that code was critical to beating the nazis!!!
Also like there’s a lot of art in math? like every mathematician will tell you writing a good proof is more like writing a paper than, say, integrating a function. there’s a lot of clever tricks people have used to solve centuries old problems... and like. one of the fundamental rules of math is “if you cant solve the problem, cheat and just solve a similar problem thats easier” and like thats just hilarious to me like mathematicians will ALWAYS find the easiest route to do things
idk i have plenty of beef with math too because lets be real there is plenty of beef to have with math......... a lot of it was developed by wealthy people who literally made it more confusing on purpose to try to keep uneducated people from being able to read it which is WHACK (example: cosecant corresponds to sine and secant corresponds to cosine... because keeping the “co”s together would be too easy........... completely fucking useless) and i dont blame ANYBODY for not liking it because its not for everyone!! and thats fine. if everyone was a mathematician we would live in a very sad world. but we still need a few here and there!
