It was a fine 7/10 experience. Very exciting when you're picking up references the moment they show up, but as soon as the movie ends I felt rather empty. I sat there with my friends as we all said "wait, that's all?"

I didn't have any expectations for it other than "it'll be a Mario movie", but even with that, the movie went by so fast and the only truly memorable thing we kept bringing up since watching it was Peaches. Everything else we discussed in the weeks since its release was either a bit too shallow or just embarrassing, like the licensed music selection they used (nevermind the fact I was reminded of Shrek 2 the moment Holding Out For A Hero started playing, oh and Take On Me reminded me of Deadpool, not in a good way though)

I don't remember exactly who was it, but a creator I follow said it feels like a virtual theme park that barely gives you enough time to take in the scenery before you move on to the next attraction and he's 100% right. Pretty CGI and thousands of references kept me engaged in the moment, but nowadays I kinda feel underwhelmed when I think about the movie.

Maybe if they fleshed out a couple of things that were set up and dropped just as quick (like that one moment with Mario and DK inside the eel I wished it went for a more emotional angle like Sonic and Knuckles' beach scene in Sonic 2), then I'd have a bit more to think about the movie. As it stands right now, it works perfectly as a videogame adaptation, nothing more, nothing less. Sing along to Peaches and hope for the best.

Other Wii U games

DKCTF is still phenomenal. I have to replay DKC2 but I'm sure TF is the best. Played it on hard mode and only as DK. Boy was that rewarding. In regular mode, the level of difficulty amongst levels goes K>A>Standard>Boss but on hard mode that's flipped, at least with the last 2 bosses. The hard mode has been improved from Returns. In fact, everything has been improved from Returns apart from the art you unlock. Insane that there's only a 10 level difference in Returns favour and yet TF blows it out of the park. But yeah, the hard mode in Returns is one heart and flipped. A mirror mode. Which, tangent: I hate mirror mode in Mario Kart. Worthless addition. Did you know, they were originally going add a backwards mode in Double Dash and modify the tracks so you could do them backwards in this mode? But it got swapped for mirror mode. In Returns, the hard mode isn't too bad because they also give the checkpoints for each level. In TF, they don't. And the regular levels are these long lavish courses that become super challenging by getting rid of checkpoints. Where as the K levels are already gauntlets without checkpoints so they're no more difficult. I think they may actually be easier in this game as opposed to Returns, although that may be because of the controls. And that fucking blue bug level. The A levels are about the same in terms of difficulty. Those last 2 boss battles were brutal. So rewarding beating those. I love this game! I started Shovel Knight with the Plague Knight campaign as it's the worst. Whilst good, maybe even great, you can just tell that the levels were built around Shovel Knight's control scheme. And in retrospect, this is even worse after what they did with the other 2 campaigns. And Plague Knights controls are still very hard to deal with. This becomes more challenging than the actual combat and bosses, which Plague Knight wipes the floor with compared to Shovel Knight. Funnily enough, the hardest stage in Plague Knight's campaign is his own level. The story is still cute though and I love how it intertwines with Shovel Knight's. But it also has the weird implication that Shovel Knight doesn't find out who Shield Knight is? Since the levels are exactly the same, I decided to do my hard version of Shovel Knight's campaign, no upgrades or relics. I find the actual hard mode not as fun due to the removal of many checkpoints. I don't find it as rewarding as the hard mode in DKC. But yeah, way better than Plague Knights. I still haven't beaten that gauntlet at the end. I still find Polar Knight hard but I didn't realise how hard Plague Knight is without any relics. Specter Knight is nowhere near as hard as I remember. Difficulty: Plague > Polar > Propeller > Tinker 1 > Mole > Specter > Treasure > Tinker 2 > Queen. I play with King Knight using female pronouns, Shield Knight as a man but still the enchantress so I can have that gay and trans rep, and Mole Knight as a woman so she can have more flames. Tinker 1 is so high because I get lazy and sloppy and damage boost my way through it. A strategy I've found working against Plague Knight is being as unpredictable as him (I've forgotten how different his boss sprite is compared to his playable one). And it's sad to say but I did die to King Knight once during the gauntlet. Probably could have one if I didn't die there.

I feel like doing A Thing. I'm gonna rewatch the N Direct (watched it at work originally) and comment on... I dunno, everything? For funsies.

Y'know I totally forgot it opened wit the Sploon3 DLC thing. I don't play splat myself but absolutely lovin the aesthetics here, that octoling in the elevator is dressed saucy I must say. The whole thing looks delightfully cartoon creepy, the clear overuse of flat white had me guessing at something to do with color right at the point "put this color chip in" was said. Gonna hafta paint that blank canvas.

Mario vs DK. Another series I never really played, but I know lots of people love it. One of those beloved side games. A friend commented on being glad it was going back to the original style rather then the psuedo lemmings thing where you just had the toy Marios. I hadn't thought of that myself but there you go. I love how when DK gets hit with the... box, pipe, whatever, that Mario throws at him, it really does feel like just a cartoon clonk on the donk, absolutely non-violent.

Ooooooooh here we go. I'm not a Prince of Persia fan specifically, did love the... 2006? 2009? That one stand alone entry with the prince with the orange and purple head wrap. But THIS PoP game looks fuuuuuuun, this is exactly my kind of 2D platformer, with a good combat system baked in too. Also you're not actually the prince this time! Or maybe that'll be the twist later. The prince was inside you all along.

Okay so I never even knew there was a Horizon Chase 1? So no clue as far as sequels go, but I have always enjoyed a good arcade racer on the side. This one gives me "slightly less wacky Cruisn' game" vibes. Also I like the little random dialogues you see coming from the cars a few times. Adds flavor.

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle... I uh... I dunno, I got nothing. It's a musical party game! When they said well known songs from other Konami games but it was a Beatmania track I'm not familiar with that landed like a wet sock. Sorry. Hope its fun!

Okay I haven't read/watched SPYxFAMILY but holy MOLY Anya is just pure distilled weaponized CUTE AS HECK. How do you be so cute like that? And now she's gonna have a game that's just about making memories with her family? I have diabetes now.

Woo, man, I have feelings about an SMRPG remake. But if I'm being blunt... any concern I have is just for shitty bad faith fandom deciding to shit all over the game after it comes out for not being some BS they made up in their heads. The game looks super cute and I appreciate how they kept the funny proportions of the characters from the SNES game. While everyone else is analyzing the changes to the battle system (or that train attack from Boomer that did max damage woah there), I noticed they snuck in a shot of the party seemingly opening the door to... will it be Culex again? Or will there be a new secret boss there? Boggles the mind it does.

Oh geez this one. Some people I follow have been flooding my dash with love for the Another Code game announcement(s) here. It makes me remember how much I have NOT played my copy of the DS game XD crud. I don't have the Wii sequel at all so I may get this just to cover my bases. I HAVE however, played Hotel Dusk, and would love to see some kind of port of that to the Switch. But more then anything I'm just glad to see this series not be forgotten.

HHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN NEW PEACH GAME. I loooooved Super Princess Peach on the DS, and I admit, I was... concerned, after the original announcement of a Peach game from the last general direct, that a new game would be... plain, flat even. But OH HOWDY I was assuaged of my concern! Also YES, give her LOTS OF OUTFITS PLEASE. I am def getting this.

Man the SaGa series... that's one I always see and like... want to go play, then I just never get around to it. I think I have the SaGa game on PS2? I almost got the super beloved PS1 entry not too long ago but it was like... over a hundred dollars. I gotta say though... I am actually LOVING the characters in this one. Like, the guy who would be the default sword warrior in any other RPG of this ilk is some kind of puppet master? We got robots? Magical girl witch? A... cowgirl and hijab wearing lady duo with guns? I AM SOLD ALREADY. WHAT EVEN IS THIS SETTING.

HD remake of Lara Croft games. ...that is all. (I don't really care one way or the other, hopefully they do right by the originals)

Detective Pikachu 2. I didn't play the first game, and despite how much you'd think I'd have a connection to pokemon given the original Blue was the first game I ever bought with my own money as a kid, and I legitimately caught all 151 mons... I don't actually have any strong connections to pokemon. Sorrynotsorry.

Trombone Champ... cough... that was a meme from last year I think? I dunno. I think people only care because it was a meme, if it had been some random Wii game it would've been called shovelware and nobody'd give a shit. Shrug.

Battle Crush looks serviceable, but I'm actually just surprised something that feels generic as of like... two or three years ago, is just showing up now. Seems like its riding an outdated wave.

Wartales feels like something that is gonna become the obsession of a tiny cult fanbase.

Remake of Contra 1... hm... okay so like, I actually am a Contra fan. Like... half the reason I would ever care about having a partner irl is someone to play Contra with. But the only thing in this trailer that really made me sit up was hearing that Wayforward was making it. It otherwise looks... just... plain. I guess. Nothing about it really leaping out at me from this trailer. The graphics feel too "clean", Contra should always look kinda grungy you know?

It is actually hard for me to express how HAPPY I am to see a new Vanillaware game (god I needta go finish 13 Sentinels...), but HOLY CRAP the title of the game... UNICORN OVERLORD. Is such a funny goddamn name. I want to tell you how pretty the game trailer is, how interested I am in the gameplay, or maybe how its giving me vibes to a Vanillaware game on the PSP that never got released in the US... but all I can imagine is someone's Megaman X OC Maverick. UNICORN OVERLORD! At half health they jump into the background on a throne and you evade attacks from a legion of lesser unicorn soldier bots. I am so getting this game though. (ALSO THE GAMEPLAY LOOKS LIKE OGRE BATTLE SO I AM QUADRUPALLY INVESTED no not TACTICS OGRE, OGRE BATTLE you peasant)

...wasn't the game called Luigi's Mansion DARK MOON? Was that only in the US maybe? Oh well. I suppose it was time enough for this. I've only played 3, but it was def a lot of fun. Also POLTERPUP, that is all.

Okay so... gotta be totally up front about F-Zero 99... I think its a hilariously fun idea to "99" up the original F-Zero, the way they 99'd up tetris and mario 1. But also, I am right there with all the fans who are grumbling about not getting an actual new F-Zero game, like a proper one not just a gimmick. Still, the game is gonna be a chaotic silly mess. Not bad, but not quite enough either.

Okay Bandle Tale and Nunu or whatever; what is it with everything related to LoL being better then the actual LoL game?

New Wario Ware! ...I don't play Wario Ware games! GIVE ME A NEW WARIO LAND GAME YOU COWARDS. (this is not meant as a sleight against WW games or the people who love them, they're legit cool, funny, colorful, have a ton of great characters, and I just don't personally play them so new ones go solidly into "tell that one friend of mine a new WW was announced" category)(also inb4 all the people complaining about "motion controls" or something, I dunno, I hope the fandom is better then that but I dont trust the internet)

Eiyuden Chronicles! This is one of those things where the original games this is a successor to (which I cant remember the name of off the top of my head because my brain hates me) isn't something I ever had, but I've spent more then enough time immersed in that old PS1 culture and the people therein that I totally get it, and I hope nearly as much as any fan that the final product of this game is everything they want it to be.

Ah, here's one that's virtually impossible for me to comment on because I know nothing of Eastward other then that art style. It looks nice! And I don't know how this is similar or different or fits in at all with the original game! I would 100% become immortal somehow despite the ramifications just to play every game, but alas, I am a mere mortal, and have a limited amount of time, lots of which I lose to depression, so I have not played Eastward. Sorry.

Wargroove 2! Well that's not something I was expecting. I def liked Advanced Wars back in the yonder time, but never stuck with the genre going forward (also I suck at it!). When the original Wagroove became a thing (I actually played a prelease demo of it at PAX one year) I was def excited for fans of the genre (pretty much how I feel about Eiyuden Chronicles even). But I also remember hearing that people fell off the first game kinda fast? Here's hoping 2 does all the good sequel things and really ups its game then.

I admit I'm not much for the huge plethora of (usually cooking focused) crafting-one-side-selling-on-the-other style games. But I do like seeing a game randomly have a POC player character. Just, in general. Doesn't even seem to be a factor of the story either, just is a thing. Glad to see it. (Love the mantis shrimp with the boxing gloves, gotta get that out there)

I haven't played MK8 since it was on the WiiU! Moving on!

I have never played Among Us. I'm not gonna be playing it. ...was there only ever one map in that game? Trailer's cute. Is it mushroom themed because they're basically wanting to hand people a "fungus among us" joke?

I just feel attacked from all sides hahahaha Maybe the pressure on them to be 'perfect' is even worse than with the boys so they don't feel as genuine... idk... And I studied graphic design tho it was a very basic course and I never really used professionally, it became more of a hobby and I have some creations on my blog, but now I make more gifs (yes, I'm a gif maker haha) Is faster and a little less creatively demanding so is good to pass the time and relax... recoloring stuff is definitely my favorite part of the process (your gift will be a gifset btw haha I'm still deciding on what exactly)

I would LOVE to have acting classes and learn to dance and play an instrument too (piano would be my choice) and I feel like the group of people I would meet in these environments would be incredible, but right now I just moved on my own to a new country so money is kinda short hahaha But I keep an eye out for that and I learned that is never too late to start anything

Do you mind sharing what you do for work? And where will you be traveling, that's exciting!! There was not much celebration per se on my birthday haha I knew my friends would all be working, so I booked a little solo trip and got to meet a new town nearby a had heard lots about... And people were definitely right, I loved the place and had an Amazing time!! One day before my birthday I managed to secure tickets to see Ateez in Madrid which I still cant believe!!! It will be my first big scale concert ever and I also gave myself a ticket to watch the ballet "Giselle" next week, so yeah, a pretty great birthday week/month hahah I'm an ambivert with great people skills and I love my friends, but I LOVE my time alone as well, you know? 😅

I do collect them! I pick them up, inspect them, and put them in my bag. You’ve got good taste, “Hot” grabbed me by the throat and did not let me go for a second, the vocals on that are insane. When DK comes out fucking SWINGING?!?!?! I’m manifesting you getting to sing with him, he’s an S-tier fave, we love boys with big ass voices. I used to adore girl groups, but now they’re all so young that I can’t get into them. I remember being on stage as a teenager and 😬 So I still listen to all my 2nd gen nostalgia songs and follow the women in their 30s and 40s instead – when Kara sang “Step” at MAMA I might have teared up just a little. But none of these new girlies could do Hyolyn’s “Laying Low” so I’m fine. Anyway, if you like older girl groups (both have been performing longer and the members aren’t 17), check out EXID, they’re my favorite girl group – “Fire” wasn’t great, but they are, and I missed Solji so much.

Queen Kraken dominated that stage, I cannot beLIEVE she was robbed like that. smh even let Seonghwa ~kill~ her. We need them to sleep, they’re going loopy, I’m always excited for a comeback but I’m even more excited for a NAP.

Dude, it’s been so great taking classes again. I’m not any good at Meisner technique (my teacher yelled at me frequently, all of which was very deserved, and I respond better in the arts to brutal honesty and tough love, so my monologues are peak now) but it was amazing to get back into that space with such interesting people. There were some who were so annoying, but that’s the risk and it’s worth it imo. And you’re so right that it’s never too late to try, the secret is that there are fewer interesting roles for younger actors than older actors, and so you’re always growing into something better, even just good scripts to read in a class.

They’re, what, 185-ish? I’m 180, we’re sooooo normal. My fatal flaw is that I immediately assume the tallest male idol on stage is my dad’s height (196) and then when I find out they’re 180-185-ish I’m like oh so they’re normal! Normal height! It’s not our fault these other boys decided to stop growing! (Actually tho – my cousin was so mad when she moved to America for college and all her classmates weren’t at least 190. She scolded her dad for being 195 and skewing her expectations for American men, since he was the only American in their small town. If we point out that Japanese men also aren’t known for being 190, she says at least she wasn’t lied to.)

I work for the food and beverage department of a museum. I do the boring back-end invoice tracking, but when I’m on-site during the parties it’s wild. When parties are booked at the museum there’s a specific vibe – expensive and extravagant and ridiculous and a little bit tastefully tacky – and so it’s always just fun. The last one had a whole crew of dancers dressed as Lichtenstein paintings, in big dresses, bigger wigs, and stylized halftone makeup. A couple months ago was a sneaker ball, where people wore eveningwear and (WayV voice) thousand dollar shoes

I’m going to the Vatican! My dad’s there like yeah lmao you don’t have to come but his partner (deeply Catholic) is spiritually twisting my ear like “you witnessed a miracle, your father got out of a wheelchair, you are GOING.” I’m not meeting the Pope, but I get to watch my dad meet him, which I’m relieved about since I’m not Christian lmao.

Hi there! Just found out about your nsr submas AU and loved the vibes. I'm tired so I couldn't process everything but you said something like it would be fun if you had to do 20 battles to get to the subway bosses, and I thought it would be also a fun idea if those 20 battles were distributed along the game in case of the twins being an optional boss.

Like, bbj could go the long way to all the districts, or they could help subway boss Emmet power up the station and get there faster (+ more fans). With each visit to the stations Emmet would get stronger until he wasn't there at the moment but hey! his brother Ingo is here, maybe he can continue the challenge! And after the post game, if bbj helped fully power the station, the subway bosses would let bbj have a final battle with both of them (+ Elesa for extra spice).

You're spot on with this. They're a (kinda) optional boss like DK west. When I say 'kinda' I mean you have to fight them (or at least Ingo) at least once to proceed onto probably Neon j / 1010. However you can go back to them.

I found the helicopter (that you can unlock with enough fans) a bit detached from the story so I thought it'd be easier to just connect the sewers to part of the train station and have that be the fast travel option.

And for the 20 battles idea I was thinking something like how the nsrtists have an approach level. Where you have to beat all the nsr security bots in order to get to the next section. ( as in you could do one section of the approach and then leave or continue. I don't exactly remember how the battle subway works but still along the lines of do an amount of battles to reach the bosses). This is only necessary to meet Ingo because it'd be mean to make someone do 20 fights to get to emmet and elesa after this (idk man).

It goes like this

- B2J fights 20 battles

- Theyre met with Subway Boss / Master Ingo

-They fight and (probably) win and slightly damage the train (ex- single line)

- they go back and can go fight 1010 now (and access some parts of the city via fast travel like djss and sayu)

-they go back to fight Emmet and Ingo (on seperate trains so one member of b2j fights one subway boss. Mayday fights Ingo and Zuke fights Emmet)

- B2J wins the fight and damages the trains then leave (they can now access yinu). For the time being Emmet and Ingo are seperated and have to fix the trains (and make sure passengers are okay)

- you can't exactly challenge them yet however you can challenge Volo (idk what his deal is yet he's just kind of there at the moment)

- the trains are fixed so now you can fight (on one train) Elesa, Emmet, and Ingo. Elesa was sent by EVE to dealn with this (considering the subway bosses slightly work under neon j, Elesa works under eve as a model)

-b2j wins and gets access to Neon j and Eve

This sort of timeline is a lot heavier do it kind of has to balance heavy and light because you're going from Yinu's heavy scene to 1010's funny and light hearted scene (if you dont think too hard)

But the alternative is what you suggested with a light hearted subway fight which also works very well!

Post game (if post game does exist really) you can fight them again (+ volo) for practice as well as help power both the station and the city (to ease the burden the NSRtists have)

ok i have a dumb question. do you think merlin understands whenever other magic users are casting spells? ok i feel like this is a dumb question now. but like, is magic a language? are all incantations in a different language, so when other person who knows magic is watching you- they know what you're trying to do and such? i feel like "of course they'd know" but i'm basing that assumption on hp where everyone knows that alohomora is alohomora and where everyone knows that lumos is lumos. but what about here? does merlin know what she's incanting? can he slightly understand it even if he's never seen/done it before? is magic a language like latin, and even if you aren't completely fluent, you and parse together things and make an assumptions?

The Flattery of Feet

My lords and ladies of the wonderful world of Fetish, I bring you my most important post yet.

It is the word that gets my blood pumping.

I've spoiled this with the title; but feet. Foot, paws, dogs, hooves, kick-assers, or whatever you call the mystery behind your most underestimated resource.
