She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962 from Sarah Lawrence College and her Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1964. In 1965 she joined the editorial staff of House & Garden magazine and worked there until 1970 before freelancing in interior design. Graubart is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers.
