🇵🇸 … keep on learning!!
By:LaillaB, from LinkedIn, founder of ‘Reclaim the Narrative’.
“Bruce Hoffman’s riveting history of pre-1947 Palestine reviews the violent birth of the modern Jewish homeland …
Today, the phrase “Palestinian terrorism” immediately conjures up Arab violence against Jews suicide bombings, Hamas rockets launched from the Gaza Strip.
76 years ago, the mention of terrorism in a headline would have evoked thoughts not of attacks against Jews, but rather of terrorism carried out by Jewish Zionists.
From 1944 until 1947, Palestine witnessed a series of assassinations, abductions, and bombings, perpetrated by Jewish terrorists against the occupying British.
“Does terrorism work?” asks the author of “Anonymous Soldiers: The Struggle for Israel, 1917-1947”, and the answer, in this case, would seem to be YES.
Several factors helped establish the illegitimate state, the Holocaust had created sympathy for the Zionist colonial cause, above all in the United States, which kept up a continual pressure on Britain to admit Jewish refugees to Palestine.
Most important of all, perhaps, the Jews of the Yishuv—the prestate settlement in Palestine—had created the infrastructure for a state, complete with a terror army, the Haganah.
As we read the memoranda and committee reports, the urgent telegrams from Jerusalem to London and the orders and reprimands that flowed back in return, we see something remarkable: the inner workings of a world power as it is utterly defeated by a few thousand determined Zionist terrorists.
Yet these were committed terrorists, inspired by the idealistic assassins of Tsarist Russia, and they managed to pull off one of the most spectacular
By that time, the Irgun, too, had resumed its armed struggle against Britain, believing that once the defeat of the Nazis looked certain, it was time to begin pressuring the British on the future of Palestine.
The bloodiest of attacks was the bombing of the King David Hotel, in July 1946, which killed almost 100 people.
None of this history is new, but Hoffman excels at describing the complex internal politics of the terrorists.
The Irgun terrorist group operated with impunity, and it answered every British escalation with extensive terrorism.
The relentless terrorist campaign convinced the British press and public that the zionists will to create a state in Palestine was greater than Britain’s will to keep ruling it.
Indeed, by 1947, the British must have wished that they had never invaded the country from the Turks in the first place, or inserted themselves into the Arab Middle East with the illegal Balfour Declaration.
Hoffman’s story offers two possible morals, which point in opposite directions.
One is that a determined national liberation movement will always triumph in the end, since the occupier’s will to remain is always going to be weaker than the occupied’s will to freedom.” … 🇵🇸
If this is true, then presumably the establishment of a Palestinian state is only a matter of time إن شاء الله … 🕊🍉

Well so much for pretendin’
‘Cause bad luck’s never-endin’
Or maybe it isn’t, I truly believe bad luck just ebbs and flows. Just happens that right now I’m on a streak.
The good news is I’m going to be traveling again to Houston in the coming weeks. I’m hopeful I can get the San Antonio project up and running as well. Turns out people really don’t want to spend $3-$4M on a building that only brings in a pittance each year.
The bad news is, if I don’t get that San Antonio project moving, I’m going to be out of work soon. Time to turn on the charm and start moving forward.
So next steps include polishing my resume, updating my LinkedIn, starting a marketing campaign (shudder) and getting some more clients.
I can solve problems, I clean up messes, I keep projects moving forward, I provide solutions to issues you didn’t even know you were about to have. Basically, I’m the Winston Wolf of Construction Project Management. If you will, a mercenary with respect to your construction needs.
Except I don’t wear a tuxedo, attend lavish hotel parties at 7am, nor drive an Acura NSX.

Its not just about fast fashion
Posted by Coralie Alison 24718sc on February 09, 2024
Earlier this week a supporter sent us a screenshot of a sponsored post on Facebook where giant e-commerce platform SHEIN was pushing thigh-high fishnet stockings for infants. "This is a massive red flag for me" she said.
Tumblr media
We discussed it as a team and our Movement Director, Melinda Tankard Reist said "This major online e-commerce platform thinks it’s ok to sexualise even babies by flogging thigh-high black fishnet stockings. Shein has linked babies with an item of clothing commonly associated with the sex trade. We have documented other examples of Shien’s exploitation and adultification of children including padded bras and see-through costumes. The company must be called out for pedo whistling."
So we decided to share the image on Facebook, Instagram, X(Twitter) and LinkedIn calling on all our supporters to contact SHEIN and demand they remove the item from their site.
Clearly this campaign struck a chord with many as we had hundreds of comments on our social media platforms.
"I have grave concerns about the mind of the person who thought these a good idea - I think they need help of some sort."
"What the actual! That’s disgusting"
"Appalling"
"Yuck!! 🤮 This is all kinds of wrong. Actually makes me feel physically sick."
"Words fail at this sickness"
"SHEIN this is not a good look….."
"Shame on you SHEIN"
"SHEIN this is disgusting. I will be spreading this info to everyone I know so that your company is boycotted."
"I wrote a book about pornification of reality and this is the worst thing I've ever seen."
"This is not the first time. SHEIN have a history of sexualising girls. We must call this out!"
This also came at the same time that SHEIN was also under fire publicly for other items that adultified children.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only are the fishnet stockings inappropriate for its ties to the sex trade but they would also be incredibly impractical for a baby. The sponsored ad says “Kids will love these” - yeah two huge bows on your knees when you’re learning to crawl. Slippery feet when you’re trying to stand and take first steps. Let kids be kids!
We then inboxed Peter Pernot-Day on LinkedIn who is head of Corporate Strategy and bought the issue to his attention. The beauty of social media is that we can contact people in senior management.
When we checked the website link later that day the item could not be found.
Tumblr media
This is the power of using your voice. Together we rallied our community to collectively speak out and say "This is not okay!" Kids need the adults in their lives to protect them, to advocate for them and to take action when something in our society is going to harm them. If you're not already a part of our campaign movement please sign up today to be notified about future campaigns. (It's free and we promise we will never spam you.)
It is great that the item has now been removed but why do we need to have these campaigns in the first place? Kids deserve better than SHEIN’s sexualisation and adultification.
But our campaign against SHEIN doesn’t end here. Unfortunately the corporate sells a range of highly sexualised and adultified items. We’ll say more on this soon.

Day 53: Your day, in great detail
Today I woke up and started thinking about how that job hasn't emailed me back yet, even though they said they were gonna. I hated thinking about that, so I started thinking about mine and the Mailman's characters. I sat down at my computer and wrote a follow-up email to the hiring manager. After that I logged onto work (still thinking about Professor Glenn MaClanahan, Trina Dolton, and their ~*~forbidden romance.~*~) My boyfriend calls to wish me a good morning, like he does every morning, and we talk for a little bit while he delivers the mail. I vent about the job, and he tells me to try not to worry about it until the end of the week, which was good advice. Instead, we start doing some (safe for work and very cool) narrative crafting. We tell each other we love each other about 15 times (lowballing it.)
I have my meeting with another department lead, and we talk about rating photography and illustration portfolios that have come through for us to market. I have a nice time speaking with her and I think about how it's going to be sad to leave. Simultaneously, messages in the Executive chat spell a not-so-positive company outlook. I quickly overcome the sadness about potentially leaving.
After more (very important narrative crafting) on my break, I call my boyfriend and talk to him about how thankful I am for his presence in my life, and that he's made a very stressful week way less stressful. We find about 15 different ways call each other hot (lowballing it, honestly.)
I obsessively check my email and LinkedIn, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, but the email never comes. I throw myself into the world of East Texas University for some more (completely necessary character building.) I think about how nobody will ever compare to the way my Mailman DM's that game.
Work ends. I text a few friends and wonder if I'm still seeing a movie with one of them tonight. It is unceremoniously cancelled.
It's raining hard. My boyfriend calls me to come over instead of sitting in my room being anxious and sad about the job. I drive over, thinking about how it might be raining this hard the first time Trina Dolton shows up at GlenMac's door in the middle of the night (for fear that he may be in grave danger!)
I come over and he makes me a chicken sandwich on texas toast. I kiss that boy!! We run some character improv exercises and talk about the campaign a bit. We cuddle on the couch and he puts on a Western movie, A Fistful of Dollars. It kind of goes over my head a bit but I love hearing him talk about movies and he let me watch Zac Efron's 17 Again yesterday, so. That's love.
After the movie ends I start talking about the job again. "I can't believe a human would do that to another human! Promise an interview and then not follow up!"
"What was the exact wording of the last email he sent?"
"It said," I started, refreshing my inbox, "that—"
One new message!
An apology that it had taken a few days to get back to me, and that the second interview will be this Friday. I'm dumbfounded. Who sends an email at 10 o'clock at night!!
My boyfriend makes fun of me for worrying. I smile, I kiss him, and after a little bit, I head home to start writing this.
