After over 3 months of playing “Mr.Love Queens choice, ”I finally give a full review of the game
1. When and Why did you start playing the game?
I started at the end of May or the beginning of June - not completely sure, to be honest - I started playing because I saw multiple Ads for the game on facebook and needed a “small” Game that doesn’t take too much time of the day so I had something to play while I stopped from playing any PC or PS4-Games so I could focus on moving. And I decided an Otome-Game would be the perfect thing for me. Also... I played “Dress Nikki” for a while and really liked it, so I kind of thought that a game from Elex can’t be a bad idea. And that is how it all started....
2. Your biggest surprise your biggest disappointment? The biggest surprise for me was how amazing and interesting the story was. Most Otome-Games that I know, no matter the setting, usually have a mainstream-plot that could come out from a bad novel or movie and gets boring really fast. The games story had me hooked very early on and I was like: “Even if I wouldn’t like any of the boys... or the overall game... I couldn’t stop playing because I need to know what happens next!” The biggest disappointment really is the lack of the actual “Otome”-Part. Mr.Love is really not a dating-game. Its more like someone has turned the idea for a great anime into a game instead and to make it more interesting, you can actually Date the 4 main boys - but only outside of the actual story, so that it has no influence on the plot whatsoever. There aren’t much choices to make in game that makes the boys love you more and even the ones you have for messages or phone-calls they still have no influence on the game. I like the game, but I kind of really want to choose one man and not date them all outside the plot in no one of them inside the plot.
3. If the game had routes like MisticMessenger which route in which order would you play? As my favorit man is Victor, I would do his route first and it would be really hard for me to do any other route afterward because for me he is THE man. People who know me know that I have a weakness for man like him. Arrogant and cold at first sight but a heart of gold on the inside and who loves this one person more than anything else. And he is a CEO on top of it. Honestly, I am a Seto Kaiba fangirl and my Queen really had no choice but to have Victor as the only one she actually dates XD My second favorite is Kiro, so his route would come next. Actually, at first, to me he was that boy that I thought i would love to have as a best friend but surely not as a lover and then chapter 8 came and I also saw Helios and I just knew that somehow he worked his way out of the friendzone and into the second place. I can imagine I would have played his route really late if I wouldn't have known anything about him before and would then have been totally surprised how much I liked him and his route XD The third in line would be Gavin... which has really fallen from grace for me. He was the second best for me at first. I liked his semi-badboy attitude and he was kind of cool? But in his dates (which I watch on YouTube) he is no realy person, he is a damn zombie. “I do what you want. I like what you like. I don’t care, as long as you are happy with it.” He doesn’t have any personality. He is that guy that thinks he needs to give the woman whatever he likes so she likes him back. I don’t like that. Honestly, although sometimes I want to kick Victor for constantly calling MC “Dummy” at least he has a personality and his own mind and doesn’t mind telling MC when she is stupid or making wrong choices. Kiro is more soft, but he still has a personality and didn’t mind if what he and MC do or eat or want is not always exactly the same, he just makes the best out of it. I wouldn’t do Luciens route at all. I also refuse all of his dates and lately also his phone-calls as he is really my least favorite character. I do not doubt that he actually really loves MC. So him beeing a shady traitor asshole isn’t my problem. His personality is just totally not my stile. The way he deals with MC - good intentions or not - is not alright. Plus, for some reaon I find his chapters always the most boring. The plot is always important, but anything that is just the day to day interaction beetwen MC and the boys I found most boring with Lucien.
4. Best chaper(s) so far? I really loved the “Key” - chapter, which was chapter 8 or so I think. I loved that very different but very cool side of Kiro that was somehow still him. Chapter 10 was also very nice, but had me slightly bored at the beginning until it got me hooked as soon as Victor saved MC out of that Cell. Then it was really good and as a Victor-Fan, it was of course great to see the development that unfolded in the last parts of that chapter. 3. Worst chapter(s) so far? As I said I do dislike most of the Lucien-Chapters. I especially disliked the one were MC follows him around for some kind of jealousy that didn’t make any sense and gave me some kind of second-hand embarrassment. I can also not say that I liked Gavins chapter 12 very much. The plot should have been interesting... but didn’t get me as hooked as it should have under these circumstances. Propbaly because it was kind of confusing? At the end I didn’t really know what was really going on with that Room that wasn’t suppose to be there but then was there and then Gavin fund it but was still in a different room and... what? Really, I lost too much track of what was going on to like the chapter.
4. As a Victor fan, what do you say about his behavior in chapter 11? Halfway through the chapter I was just sighting and shaking my head over his overprotective behavior, but it was not like we shouldn't have seen that coming. As a fan of characters like Victor, I knew that was bound to happen after what happened to MC in chapter 10. Characters like him tend to turn a little bit too overprotectiv and possesiv and controlling at some point, especially after they almost lost their beloved person for some reason. Thankfully, that didn’t turn into another Jumin-Story and the game handled that character-trait very well. At the end of the day, Victor always gave in to MCs wishes and needs and gave her back her freedom little by little after she was demanding it. He didn’t look her up anymore after she just made it clear that she just WANT to be free again. He had to come to terms with the fact that he can’t always protect her, he can not always control what she is doing and what is happening to her. He had to learn that he has to trust her, even tho that might be a very stupid idea, but it is what she wants. And that is what makes the difference bettwen was Jumin had done in MM and what Victor did in chapter 11. When MC wanted freedom, Victor gave it to her, slowly, but surely and after her outburst he realized he had gone too far and backed off. While Jumin never really saw hat he did as something wrong, which is really concerning. Victor also had to come to terms with something else in this chapter. He found his long lost childhood-swearheart, finally, after such a long time and he almost lost her again. He wanted to hold on to her. But she doesn’t feel the same. And that is something he had to understand too and although it took him a chapter and a few bad choices, in the end it worked out well. 5. As you don’t like Lucien, what do you think about his betrayal in chapter 13? I think whoever did not see that coming was blind. It was hinted years ago, even stronger for those who have gone through his dates. He was shady a.f. from the beginning and it got worse with every new Lucien-centric chapter. So when it finally clicked with MC I wasn’t the slightest bit surprised. I was actuallly relieved it finally happend. Yet, the way she felt in that moment really made me sad and desperate for a moment too. Because despite my own feeling I could understand hers so very well. Trust is something really fragile and she really put a huge amount of trust in Lucien, she thought he was a friend, a very good, very caring friend she liked to go to with problems and questions. A friend who helped her always. Finding out such an important person had betrayed you, feels like hell and I can relate to that and so I could feel her pain and therefor felt sad too. However... as I said before, I do not doubt that Lucien actually really deeply loves MC. As with Kiro, there is much more to him and his past then meets the eye or what the game let us know. So even tho I do not like that MC just can’t stop wanting to trust him, I do not think it is exactly wrong.
6. Have you spend money on the game? Yes and too much of it too. Mostly for Victor cards, but also for a Kiro-Card and also for the latest wish-tree event wish brought me 3 of 4 SSRs so I can’t exactly complain... Most of the time the dates and phone-calls that come with the cards are absolutly worth it.
