Savona, i Birkin Tree in concerto al Chiabrera. Mercoledì 7 dicembre alle ore 21.00, i Birkin Tree si esibiranno sul palco del Teatro Chiabrera di Savona per celebrare il quarantesimo anniversario della più famosa band di musica irlandese in Italia. Durante i loro 40 anni di carriera i Birkin Tree hanno suonato più di 2000 concerti in Italia e in Europa e sono una delle pochissime band continentali a suonare regolarmente in Irlanda. Hanno realizzato sei cd che hanno ottenuto ampio consenso di critica e di pubblico. Si sono esibiti in trasmissioni radiofoniche e televisive per RAI 1, RAI 3, Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, RTS Svizzera ed in Irlanda per RTE e RTE Classic. Nel 2021 si sono esibiti nella prestigiosa rassegna "I concerti del Quirinale", concerto trasmesso in diretta da Radio3. Si sono esibiti con alcuni dei principali musicisti irlandesi come Martin Hayes, Dennis Cahill, Liam O'Flynn, Mick O'Brien, Niamh Parsons, Cyril O'Donoghue, Derek Hickey e Aoife O'Brien. Il nuovo disco 4.0 segna una pietra miliare nella storia del progetto artistico dei Birkin Tree, che negli anni si è rinnovato sia nella line up sia nei contenuti musicali e ora è saldamente proiettato nel futuro. Here is Liam O'Flynn with one of my all-time favorite musicians - Mark Knopfler - performing a tune called “An Droichead (the Bridge)” composed by Liam, and from his fifth album - “The Piper’s Call”. (The other musicians who took part in this album are pretty impressive, besides dear Mark!)

The solo records by those who just left or ended their groups show their players in the awe of their freedom. Yes, they don't need to be beholden to anyone else but themselves, though this could result in a state of self-indulgence. However, some locate their true sonic identities within these parameters. For instance, Mark Knopfler's Golden Heart, which was released after the disbandment of Dire Straits, basically sets up his eclectic career, yet I assume many were surprised by the disc, if they only listened to his old collective, because he somehow presents all of his interests on the platter, showing there's more to him than the gathering of musicians he was in. Actually, this one paved the way for his consequent pieces.
