Le Regine: Chapter 1.1
She walked through the door, granting the frame her illustrious presence. A star. No, not a star…A goddess. Following behind her was Dania- the rare case of a kind-hearted mistress. Her vainglorious court were currently arriving outside in their carriages. Principessa Ariadne Castiglione was now in the place she always considered to be home. The place where all her greatest triumphs and defeats would occur could be defined using no lesser term.
The Summer Palace. Vines wildly crept up its stone walls, never to be cut down, always to be admired. Windows sat under these vines, lighting the palace during day, and scandalizing it during night.
Through the entryway, and then- that familiar announcement then rang out: “Your Majesities, Principessa Ariadne, Contessa Dania…” She took deep breath, closing her eyes. It will be better now.
Upon opening them, she spotted her father, or more officially known as “Re Marco Castiglione.” A most happy smile adorned her face as she nodded in acknowledgement of her father and mother, while others bowed. Protocol now completed, she rushed over into her father’s arms.
“Ariadne! Dania! My flowers have returned.” Her father kissed her cheek, and gave her a tight squeeze.
Ariadne then scolded him, “I have missed you so. Next time you must not hurry off; it is horribly impolite not to wait to travel back with us.”
Regina Felicita Castiglione walked closer towards the pair. “It is horribly impolite to delay matters of state as well.”
“Hello, mama.”
Felicita moved her gaze to Dania. “Greetings, Contessa. I trust your travels were well.”
“Felicita.”
Felicita tightened her lips. “Do not fear, I will not take your address as disrespect. I know how confusing titles can be for someone from the tenants. Well, I must be off. I have duties to attend to.”
Dania watched Felicitia walk away. “Good day, Regina.”
Marco offered his arms to Ariadne and Dania, and began to exit the entryway. “My loves, you must go rest. I know how tiring travels can be, so I do not want to keep you longer than necessary.”
"On the contrary, father, I am feeling a bit stiff from the carriage. We must all go on a walk, as I am dying to see the grounds again."
Dania nodded her head in agreement. "An excellent idea. It will give us a chance to catch up.”

Purple- Contessa Dania Agosti
Green- Principessa Ariadne Castiglione
Transcript:
Northern Kingdom: The Summer Palace, a day later, 2pm.
*Dania and Ariadne sat in the sunroom together; Dania was reading a book while Ariadne stared into the fireplace.*
Contessa Dania Agosti: "Ariadne, dear, what is on your mind? You have seemed so far away for days now."
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione: "Just something I have been meaning to ask you. Did you... did you ever have a child?"
Dania: "Why would you ask that?"
Ariadne: "I have been told something, and I want to see if it is true."
Dania: "Who told you?"
Ariadne: "I do not see how that matters."
Dania: "If I am to tell you the truth, you must promise to keep it secret. It is for the good of everyone involved."
Ariadne: "Go on."
Dania: "Almost 2 years before you were born, I found I was pregnant. You know at that time we still kept our relationship a secret. And I knew if I told your father, the child would grow up a bastard, shunned by court, because he would never give the child away to an arguably better family. And if your mother found out, she would have made the child's life miserable, or, even worse, she would have killed it. So, I went away before I started to show."
Ariadne: "He doesn't even know, then?"
Dania: "No. But, I do plan to tell him. It has been long enough that I have kept such a secret from him. Nonetheless, it is the child's secret, so it is their choice to tell anyone else."
Ariadne: "What happened next?"
Dania: "I arranged for the baby to be taken in by two of my dear friends, who had a title and lands that would ensure a nice future for the child. They were kind people, who never were able to conceive on their own. But they were old, so they died 7 years back."
Ariadne: "Valentina is truly your child, then?"
Dania: "Yes. I am sorry I didn't tell you before then. I hope you understand why."
Ariadne: "I do. You don't think my mother ever knew? What with all of her spies sneaking around court?"
Dania: "Well, I do suspect she knew in some way. I don't believe she ever acted upon her knowledge, though."

Dark Red- Regina Felicita Castiglione
Green- Principessa Ariadne Castiglione
White- Butler
Blue- Principe Brando of the Western Empire
Light Red- Baronessa Valentina Amelio
Transcript:
Northern Kingdom: The Summer Palace, later that day, 3pm.
*A small crowd stood in the entryway, all awaiting the arrival of Principe Brando from the Western Empire.*
Regina Felicita Castiglione: "Can I trust you to do what you've been told?"
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione: "Yes, mother. Though I do not know what kind of scheme you have behind this seemingly innocent act, I am pleased by an actual duty."
*The footman held the doors open for the Principe as he walked into the Palace.*
Butler: "The Principe Brando of the Western Empire."
Principe Brando of the Western Empire: "I am honored to be here, Your Majesties."
*The Principe bowed to the royals, then the room bowed and curtsied in response to him.*
*Ariadne stepped up to the Principe, who then moved to kiss her hand.*
Ariadne: "It is us who should have the honor."
Brando: "The palace looks splendid."
Ariadne: "I am glad you like it, Your Majesty."
Brando: “Would you like to give me a short tour?"
Ariadne: "I would be delighted to."
~
*Cassio eyed Ariadne and Brando as they walked away together chatting, arm-in-arm.*
*Valentina approached Felicita, then started to question her.*
Baronessa Valentina Amelio: ”What is this?"
Felicita: "What do you mean? You knew he was coming."
Valentina: "I thought we had a plan. How come she's favoring him, now? When will my guardsman come into play to keep her preoccupied, or has he been replaced?"
Felicita: "You are correct, there has been a change of plans. Follow through with the other aspects of it, though."

Red - Baronessa Valentina Amelio
Brown/Yellow- Silvano Pacino
Green- Principessa Ariadne Castiglione
Transcript:
Northern Kingdom: The Summer Palace, a week later, 11am.
*Valentina and Silvano ride atop their horses, closely together, as they talk.*
Baronessa Valentina Amelio: "Go and talk to her."
Silvano Pacino: "I shouldn't."
Valentina: "Yes, you should. She still hasn't accepted our... proposal yet."
Silvano: "Whatever trust she had for me has been abandoned."
Valentina: "And you wonder why that is? I suggest you fix your mistakes. If you're devoted to the cause, that is."
Silvano: "Don't bully me. You are my friend. And I yours. Even if you so frequently deny it. But, maybe it is best for at least an apology. She looked so defeated the other night. I suspect she truly wanted me as a friend, and I have betrayed ideal that more than once."
Valentina: "Are you really feeling sorry for her? Well, I suppose that is your own choice. Just don't get too attached, yes?"
*Silvano turned to look over his side, in Ariadne's direction.*
Silvano: "I wouldn't worry about that."
*Silvano sat down at Ariadne’s table, and began to speak to her.*
Silvano: "I am sorry for how I behaved the other night."
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione: "Why should you be sorry? You were just being ever so honest."
Silvano: "But you must understand, I could never be a true friend. I am just trying to keep you from any more hurt."
Ariadne: "Did she send you over here?"
Silvano: "Yes, but I did truly want to give you an apology."
Ariadne: "Tell her I will have an answer for her in two days at the most. She can give me a little grace for such a big decision."
Silvano: "Did you talk to Dania?"
Ariadne: "No, I haven't had a chance, what with all of the preparations for the Principe."
Silvano: "Just keep in mind the true cause, and not what we have wrongly done to try and convince you of it."
Ariadne: "I do not need any relayed advisement from someone who repeatedly tells me everything he says to me has a chance of being a lie. I will make my leave, now."
Silvano: "I do not mean to hurt you."
Ariadne: "But your choices have, whether you meant to or not."

Brown/Yellow - Silvano Pacino
Green- Principessa Ariadne Castiglione
Transcript:
Northern Kingdom: The Summer Palace, 2am
*Footsteps echoed throughout the hall as Silvano approached Ariadne, who had just come up from the stairs.*
Silvano Pacino: "Off to bed, Principessa?"
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione: "Did you know?"
Silvano: "Know of what?"
Ariadne: "Well, you are in cohorts with her so I assume you did. I don't know why I am upset with you from withholding the truth from me, either. It's not like we were friends."
Silvano: "I am sorry if I have upset you. This is about the... plot, then, I presume?"
Ariadne: "Not that. That we are sisters. I shouldn't be talking as if that were fact. Is it true, though?"
Silvano: "You still would trust that my response will be honest?"
Ariadne: "You are easier to discern lie from truth than her. She practically opaque."
Silvano: "Hm. I do not know whether I should take that as a compliment or not. Well, I will advise you on this, and it comes from a place of well meaning. Valentina has attempted to push us together, as I am sure you have noticed. That is why I have said no direct lie as she has. But there may be a time when I will be forced to lie.
Silvano: “So, do not come to me for answers you wish to be honest. Ask Dania of this. She will give a more accurate recount then me, yes, if this is true?"
Ariadne: "Pushed together? I see now. You are right, I should have just gone to Dania in the first place. It appears to me what you have just said is the only genuine thing surrounding your appearance at court. So, I thank you for that. I bid you goodnight."

Dark Pink-  Re Marco Castiglione
Red-  Regina Felicita Castiglione
Transcript:
*Zeta concocts a swirling ball of fire in her hand, then directs it towards the candelabra.*
*The ball of fire hesitates for a moment, then bursts into a cloud of smoke.*
*After noticing the fireplace she had just lit had suddenly went out, Anita turned to face Zeta with an angry glare.*
Anita (Upper Housemaid): "Zeta! I just lit that fire!"
Zeta (Housemaid): "I am sorry, I was just trying to light these candles, I should have been more focused..."
*Ariadne, having just walked into the palace with her entourage behind her, eyed the staircases before her.*
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione: "It's quite wonderful to be back, don't you agree, Dania?"
Contessa Dania Agosti: "Yes, it has truly been too long since I've seen your father."
Ariadne: "Zeta! Anita! How good it is to see you both."
Zeta: "Oh! Your majesties."
Anita: "Your majesties" *
*They both dropped to a curtsy, which hid their embarrassed flushes.*
Cadenza (Housekeeper): "Didn't I tell you two to go downstairs? Hurry along, won't you? How embarrassing... I am sorry your majesties. Welcome back."
*Cadenza quickly descended into a short curtsy.*
Ariadne: "It is alright, Cadenza, they are always welcome to be in my presence."
Cadenza: "Of course, your majesty. I must be off, now. Come, come."
*The room's current members dropped to a curtsy or bow, except Ariadne and Dania; they simply nodded in acknowledgement of the Re and Regina entering the room.*
Re Marco Castiglione: "Ariadne! Dania! Oh, my two beauties. My flowers have returned."
Ariadne: "Father! I've missed you."
*They both reached in for a cheek kiss, followed by a short hug and broad smiles.*
Regina Felicita Castiglione: "You've arrived. Hello, Ariadne. Contessa."
*The Queen granted a brief nod towards Dania's direction.*
Dania: "Felicita."
Felicita: "We are on first name basis now? How joyous. Well, I shall leave you three to it. I have duties to attend to."
*Felicita turned, and began the walk back up the staircase.*
*Marco offered his hand to Ariadne, and as she took it they began to exit the entryway, with Dania following closely behind them.*
Marco: "My loves, please, go rest. You must be ever so tired from your travels, and I do not want to keep you any longer than necessary."
Ariadne: "On the contrary, I am feeling a bit stiff from the carriage. We must all go on a walk, as I am dying to see the grounds again."
Dania: "I must say I agree. It will give us a chance to catch up as well."

Western Empire Diplomat: "I am on my way to arrange a carriage, since I have been told I have to leave."
Dania: "Has something gone wrong?"

Le Regine
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione, heir to the Northern Kingdom’s throne, is the only surviving child of Re Marco Castiglione and Regina Felicita Castiglione. After years of her parents shielding Ariadne from the court’s worst activities, she longs to have a bigger role in politics.
But, when she meets Baronessa Valentina Amelio, her dreams and desires seem to become her worst nightmare.
Or, did Valentina just shine a light on Ariadne’s dim surroundings?
For without the feathers, the balls, and the gardens, her reality seemed to be decaying everyday.

White- Her Excellency
Orange- Torte Aceto
Purple- Ludovicia Zunino
Transcript:
Northern Kingdom: ???, 5pm
*The crackling of the fireplace was overwhelmed by the sounds of whispers in the room, as each council member was turned to the person closest to them, sharing what they had heard through passing in the villages.*
Her Excellency: *Ahem* "Quiet."
*Their chatter died down as soon as she spoke.*
Her Excellency: "Thank you. We have business to discuss, not gossip. Have we gotten anywhere on finding the leader of this group? And how large this group is? Torte?"
Torte Aceto: "Well... We have a prime suspect. This person seems to be the inspiration of everyone who supports the rising- that I have talked to."
Torte: "The name and title of this individual is Baronessa Valentina Amelio. And as for the size, I believe a few may be doing her dirty work, but there are many supporters. Perhaps in the thousands. It seems to be an ever-growing cause. But there's little to no support in the nobility."
Her Excellency: "Good. You can always count on the wealthy to have common sense. So, what shall we do about this girl? It's not a big enough rising to take any harsh measures, but I am open for any ideas as how to precede."
~
Ludovicia Zunino: "Your Excellency, shouldn't we discuss the doctrine the people have been calling into question?"
Ludovicia: "Or at least write out a public address revalidating the pages they refer to?"
*Her Excellency upturned the corners of her mouth in the slightest as she eyed Ludovicia.*
Her Excellency: "Ludovicia, might I give you a little bit of advice, as you are still so new to the council?"
Ludovicia: "I suppose so."
Her Excellency: "Don't call me into question. I know what I am doing, and I know how to set proper meeting objectives. I chose you for this position because of your excellent control of vast amounts of energy, a truly refined skill, and your devotion to the Mages of Asteria Church, but it is not only these qualifications you must possess."
Her Excellency: "Perhaps developing some skill in politics and problem-solving would help you, yes?"
*Ludovicia nodded her head slowly as she realized what had just been illuminated to her: something she had often turned a blind eye to instead.*
Ludovicia: "Of course."
~
Ludovicia: 'If I was the same person I was back then, I might have asked her today why we - again -touched into no religious matters. That would have just been my old naivety showing through, though. I was a lost child wandering for its' home. Hopelessly searching for reason and cause. Only to find people have none except for their own greed and power.'

Blue- Duca Nico
Red- Regina Felicita Castiglione
Transcript:
Northern Kingdom: The Summer Palace, an hour later, 11pm.
*Felicita gasped as someone suddenly wrapped their arms around her.*
Duca Nico: "I hope you didn't miss me too much."
Regina Felicita Castiglione: "You musn't be so public."
*Duca Nico stepped away from her, and she turned to face him.*
Duca Nico: "I know, I know. I was practically casted off for a reason, yes? Which is why I was surprised to receive a personal royal invitation for this masquerade."
Felicita: "One of my daughter's doing, that is. But don't start all of that nonsense now. I'm guessing you came to me for some reason?"
Duca Nico: "Couldn't my reason just be to see you?"
Felicita: "Possibly. I have very little faith in that response, though."
Duca Nico: "Fine. You caught me. I saw your new admissions to court."
Felicita: "You mean that baronessa and some apprentice in the college of war? There are not so much my admissions as my daughters. She's had quite the courage recently, as well as curiosity."
Duca Nico: "I will not doubt you on that. But the baronessa, she's familiar, yes? That name, and that face."
Felicita: "Everyone's familiar if you look hard enough."
Duca Nico: "I know, but she almost looks like that one child you told me about. Wasn't it Dania's?"
Felicita: "That is just a coincidence, since I am sure that child is snug in the grave by now."
Duca Nico: "Mm, but take a closer look. The name is so similar. The features are almost identical."
Felicita: "I see what you mean. Hm. Don't worry, I'll have it all sorted out by tomorrow if you are correct."

Red- Baronessa Valentina Amelio
Transcript:
Continued.
*Ariadne walked in from the garden, on her way to rejoin the party.*
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione (thinking): *Ariadne looked at Dania, who was currently dancing.* She's held the truth from me for my whole life... This is useless talk, the chance of her allegation being true is next to nothing. I can't help but wonder, though. *She felt herself shudder as the whispers slowly became louder. * I wish they would just leave me alone. Now they'll be bad again. Oh, I can't let myself get upset like this. The consequences are graver than me having to hold back a few tears.
Baronessa Valentina Amelio (thinking): This is the right choice, yes? Why even doubt yourself. Of course it is. You are not doing anything you do not have the right to do.

Red- Baronessa Valentina Amelio
Purple- Ludovicia Zunino
Transcript:
Northern Kingdom: The Summer Palace, 9pm
*Valentina was currently in her room, pacing the floors as she continued to readjust her ‘plans’.*
*Valentina heard a knock at her door.*
Valentina: "Who is it?"
*The person in question then came into the room.*
Valentina: "Ludovicia. You shouldn't be here."
Ludovicia: "I snuck in through the back entrance. No one saw me. And if they did, I have a perfectly reasonable excuse since I am on the council."
Valentina: "Still. I have things to accomplish while I am here. I cannot have any rumors clouding my reputation right now."
Ludovicia: "Yes, I have heard of what you mean to accomplish. You must know I disapprove of what your new plan is with Ariadne. And I am surprised that Silvano is encouraging you regarding his previous stance."
*Ludovicia walked over to the sofa nearest to the door, and sat down, letting out a sigh. Valentina followed her.*
Valentina: "Silvano sees that it is not my fault that Ariadne is another ditsy product of court."
Ludovicia: "Ditsy? I think most people I have talked to described her as a person of goodwill and generosity. I hope you aren't just trying to bend her to what you want her to be for your own benefit."
*Valentina took a seat beside Ludovicia on the couch.*
Valentina: "I wouldn't dream of it. Though, since you've came here so late, I doubt all you want to do is talk of her.” *Valentina slowly dragged her hand across Ludovicia’s.* “Am I not right?”
*Valentina moved to straddle Ludovicia’s lap.*
Ludovicia: *She cleared her throat.* "Possibly. But I will not put this down for long."
Valentina: "I wouldn't ever expect you to."

Purple- Re Marco Castiglione
Red- Regina Felicita Castiglione
Transcript:
*The king and queen spoke at hushed whispers, as they sat upon their thrones, onlooking the small gathering before them.*
Re Marco Castiglione: "Why have I been hearing talk today of me making an offense during my speech? I memorized that script perfectly."
Regina Felicita Castiglione: "I do not know what you refer to."
Marco: "But I think you do. What have you made me say at the end, so I can at least make apologies for it?"
Felicita: "I do not see why the ending would have made any offense. You simply said, 'I hope it goes well.' It is used in situations where success is not assured."
Marco: "And why wouldn't his success be assured? You've made the smallest error for some reason, I am sure of it; all of your mistakes are purposeful."
Felicita: "Success is never assured, no matter the person. There was no harm meant by it."
Marco: "I am sure there were plenty of other suitable options for a simple 'good luck.' I was meant to rule with you, but I have let you have all the power you desired; so please, tell of me the reason, for this is all I have asked of you in a long time."
Felicita: "I have had too many people question me recently. I wish you wouldn't become one of those few. It is quite unfavorable. I assure you my reason was valid, and we will be under no trouble for it. Like you said, I am purposeful in my actions. You need not worry about it any longer."
Marco: "Don't start something we have no resources for. This continent is finally settled, and the people are tired. If this treaty does not get ratified again, I promise you I will step in."
Felicita: "You seem so sure that you still have power. Listen here, my dear, you have none. Do not make promises you have no business keeping."

Dark Red- Baronessa Valentina Amelio
Bright Red- Regina Felicita Castiglione
Blue- Isotta Calvetti
Transcript:
Later that night.
*Valentina drearily looked around as she sat upon a cold, stone floor, adjusting to her surroundings. She noticed she had ties upon her ankles and wrists.*
Baronessa Valentina Amelio: "Isotta. Your Majesty.”
*Valentina spotted Felicita and Isotta conserving with each not a few feet away from her.*
Valentina: “Damn you Isotta, I know you used that sleep spell on me. I mean, it works wonders when I need it to. But you didn't even ask. How insulting."
Regina Felicita Castiglione: "You can go."
*Isotta flicked her wrist and the ropes came off of Valentina, and then she exited through the door.*
Valentina: "You're finally acknowledging me, you mean, after tying me up like some criminal?"
*Felicita walked over to Valentina.*
Felicita: "Valentina Amelio, lovechild of the King and his mistress. I thought you were dead."
Valentina: "You certainly did try for that, didn't you? But, you failed. As you can see. Who told who I was?"
Felicita: "Duca Nico, or you may better remember him as the man you tried to seduce, or win over; the reason you were talking to him really does not matter in the scheme of things."
Felicita: "And, as you can see, nothing is stopping me from shoving a dagger through your heart currently."
Valentina: "Do I dare to ask what's holding you back?"
Felicita: "I'm thinking instead of such violence, which is so unbecoming to maidens like yourself, we should join in a partnership."
Valentina: "What do you want, Your Majesty?"
Felicita: "I want my daughter to stop sniffing around where she shouldn't, and to stop intervening in political matters she has no business of knowing."
Valentina: "And why do you think I could remedy that?"
Felicita: "I've seen her take to you in the past few weeks. I'm sure you could handle making her a bit more...docile. You've also brought with you that handsome young guard. I'm sure he could assist in this as well."
Valentina: "That's all, then?"
Felicita: "Oh, and I need you to find something out for me. I want to know who is feeding the Empress of the Western Empire lies about us."
Valentina: "Child's play, your majesty. But, I will do it. And since you said partnership, I'd like something from you as well."
Felicita: "I'm listening."
Valentina: "I'd like a position on your council of advisors."
Felicita: "You? What do you know of politics? And why should I trust you with such a position?"
Valentina: "I know more than you would think. Let's say, I do these two things for you, and if I do them to your liking, I get the position."
Felicita: "Fine. But don't expect these things to be the last I ask of you. Especially since you are wanting to be one of my personal advisors. Consider this a test of your loyalty and skill."
Valentina: "Might you let me go back to bed now?"
Felicita: "Don't test me. If you tell anyone of this, I'll have your head. No one would even notice if you were gone."
Valentina: "I'm sure of that."

Orange - Anita (Upper/Head Housemaid)
Red- Baronessa Valentina Amelio
Green- Principessa Ariadne Castiglione
Transcript:
Past conservation, a few days ago.
*Anita is in Ariadne’s dressing room, brushing the latter’s hair.*
Anita (Upper/head housemaid): "Your Majesty, I've asked around about... her. Based on what I knew already, and what I know now, it isn't absurd to think that she is connected to groups that are against the current rulers. Not just connected, but in a high position. Be cautious of her. Who knows what she might do. Those groups, those people, are ones to risk everything in the name of their cause."
~
Present day, at the masquerade:
*Ariadne watches as Valentina and Silvano talk to Duca Nico, and approaches them. Shortly after, Valentina begins to walk off and quickly makes eye contact with Ariadne. Ariadne follows her to the garden, where Valentina is admiring the small fountains.*
Baronessa Valentina Amelio: "I've been thinking over our last talk. Of how protective your parents are and the kind of laws they have established; more importantly, how you seemed discontent with this current situation. What if, perhaps, your mother and father didn't have to rule over your life and your people?"
Principessa Ariadne Castiglione: "I would never wish my father death, and I regret that I would have ever made you think such a thing of me."
*Valentina turned to face Ariadne.*
Valentina: "I never said death. Death is a lovely thing, carefully woven with the tract of life. But, it is only magnificent when the circumstance warrants it."
Ariadne: "This is all very dangerous talk. I do not pretend to not know what you mean, but I will be choosing to ignore it, if only for your sake as I believe you are not as evil as you seem."
Valentina: "Ignore it? Your Majesty, the people have been rallied. You know, now, there's talk of a coup?"
Ariadne:  "A coup de tat? I am sure I know who these ideas have been planted by. While I may face issues caused by my mother and father, this is simply treasonous talk. To dare to mention things of that nature to a Principessa..."
Valentina: "Yes, I do dare. See, there's one factor that causes me to dare that I believe you are unaware of. I was unsure at first, but our time together has proven me of your naivety."
Ariadne:  "Naivety? Beware, Valentina. You are pushing my limits."
*Valentina laughed.*
Valentina: "I shall break through them with this, then. We are sisters. Bound by the blood of your father."
Ariadne: "Sisters? You must be mistaken. My mother did not have a child before me."
Valentina: "I never said my mother was yours. Might I direct you to Dania, the other woman who has shared your father's bed?"
*Ariadne shook her head, then grabbed Valentina's hand to pull her closer.*
Ariadne: "Well, then, sister. If you have lied, I will find out. And I will not hold back in my fury. Everything you have mentioned to me in the past few minutes are all punishable offenses of even talking of."
Valentina: "But, you won't end up taking action against us, will you? I think you're intrigued by this idea, by the idea of finally being able to grasp some power."
