Hear me out. Aizawa was unconscious for hours after the explosion and probably had a brush with death. What if he ended up dreaming about L visiting him during that unconscious period. Even if he wasn't sure if that was a dream or a visit from the real L, that's why L was more consciously on his mind during arc 2, and he was more willing to suspect Light from that point on.
I love you, and I love this.
But let me raise you one: what if he dreamt about being back in 2004 and investigating Kira with L again?
At this point, when the explosion occurs, he doesn't immediately start to openly suspect Light, but I think the first seed of doubt was planted, likely due to the fact that L wouldn't have allowed that disaster to happen. No matter how many view L as evil, he still prioritised the task force members' lives over the case and wouldn't have put them in such an obvious danger, since Mello already showed to be quite over the top. And I think this seed wouldn't have taken so much to grow into concrete actions, had it not been for Near needing the perfect moment to voice his suspicions. Already, after the explosion, Aizawa showed so much aggression and disbelief when Matsuda suggested that Kira may not be entirely evil and Light seemed to approve his idea in a way, by saying that he isn't exactly wrong in thinking that, because that was how the world worked at that time. It was such a weird moment that surely remained with Aizawa, because if you start to put into perspective that, rationalise Kira's actions, justify him and his supporters, you are just going to lose sight of what you are really after. But, since Aizawa himself said that he didn't want to believe it to be true, I think it's safe to assume that he suppressed that thought until he couldn't anymore.
But going back to the beginning, not only while he was unconscious - although it was obviously the start of it all -, but and especially after he went to talk to Near, what if he had multiple dreams about L, about what he said, or being again with him, trying to save him and failing miserably, or being in his shoes: being robbed of your life because of a lack of trust in your correct judgement? Devastating, and it's going to be my new headcanon, thanks.

"what do you want to see me write in 2024" and all the messages in the inbox are L and Aizawa having wild hate sex in the kitchen while the others are working in the main room

3, 6, 11, 21 and 25 for L x Aizawa please and thank you <3 <3
so so late. i am so so sorry.
3. What’s their favorite thing to tease each other about?
Wrote this in another ask, but Aizawa loves to tease him about his unhealthy habits and correlate them to the ideas he deems stupid.
On the other hand, I don’t believe L has something specific that he teases him on, but he loves to be overly corny with him in the worst moments possible, because that’s the thing that gets Aizawa the most annoyed and L finds it funny.
6. Do they have pet names for each other? Do they like them?
I honestly believe they would first use pet names ironically and, after a while, they would become so use to the sound of them that it would become all unironic. I don’t know exactly what pet names, but “darling” for sure from L, because of his Scottish accent (I headcanon him to be born in Scotland, sue me).
11. What good do they bring out in each other?
L would be more willing to compromise and Aizawa would be more level-headed. It’s something I keep repeating because I believe this is the only part of their relationship that needs working on the most, so it’s good that Aizawa is there to keep L in check when he gets into illegal stuff or doesn’t maintain his word (when he said that he would not look at Misa and Light through the CCVT and Aizawa saw him do that and closed it for him, with L saying “sorry :c”) and L to be there to offer Aizawa more reasonable responses to difficult situations.
21. If they live together, how do they split household responsibilities?
I can genuinely picture Aizawa wearing cleaning attire (apron, headgear, gloves, bandana and having a mop in one hand and a bucket in the other). I don’t know why but I headcanon him to be into cleaning, but of course, he would want to deal with finances as well, together with L, because he wouldn’t want L to deal with them all alone. L would reassure him that is no biggie for him to pay for all the stuff (rich ass bitch) and that he can just make decisions, but Aizawa would obviously deny and contribute as much as he can. Besides, it’s good to be financially independent even if in a relationship. About the kids, because I honestly feel like they would adopt them eventually (AU in which Aizawa never had a daughter), I can totally see L wearing a baby sling and take very good care of them. Lastly, the cooking is definitely done by Aizawa, but L would make sure to be around him when he does that, to help him in case he needs it. “Help him”, I mean, set the table or give him whatever he needs, because he doesn’t know jack shit. However, with a kid involved, he would go the extra mile to learn something edible to give them. Usually when I picture their homelife, I imagine Aizawa working mostly outside the house, like a middleman between L and the world, so L is the one who will have more time with the kid, so he has to evolve into his very-responsible-father form.
25. Who said “I love you” first?
Contrary to popular belief (literally no one), L. And he wouldn’t say it nonchalantly, because he knows that it means a lot to Aizawa, since in my headcanon scene of Aizawa’s confession, he doesn’t believe that L could ever feel the same as him. I think L would value his partner enough to understand the weight of some words. Also because Aizawa’s first reaction would be literally freezing on the spot and be confused, so he would need L to reassure him that he means those words.

I like to believe that Aizawa saying that Soichiro is the head of the force now, so they should follow his orders whatever they are is because he thinks that not following L's orders got him killed so he tries to make amends in this way

Anon from a while ago (again)!! (to make it clearer I'm the one who filtered the lawlight meronia and mellodramattic tags)
About lawzawa, I'm actually a big fan of it and lawzawa is how I found your blog.
While I was reading Death Note, I was giggling at every L and Aizawa interaction (especially the "I like people like you" and "I hate it when you say corny things like that"). I was very surprised at the lack of lawzawa shippers when I entered the fandom.
Aizawa is one of my favorite characters, and I think he's one of the better written characters in the Death Note cast. I wish he had more fans!!
I guess he's not popular because he's not a conventionally attractive twink? I still find him pretty though, I like his nose + lips.
I'd like to include another confession, but I can't think of anything to confess. Hmm, I dislike the way the fandom treats Misa
I see a lot of people saying "Misa is an angel she did nothing wrong!!" and "Light is WRONG/GAY for rejecting A GODDESS LIKE MISA!!"
Like yeah, she's pretty, but saying Light is gay/wrong for not liking her is just.. Weird. While his treatment of Misa was wrong, his dislike is valid because Misa is literally a stalker who is putting his life in danger. Sometimes the way the fandom treats Light feels like victim blaming which feels very icky to me.
I think changing Misa into a sweet pretty angel destroys everything I like about her. Like, why do people want her to be bland?? She's flawed and disfunctional and that's why I love Misa.
You know, I'm a little bit offended by the little faith you have in my memory (/hj). I do tell people irl that my memory is shit so they wouldn't pester me with questions regarding things we studied in some lectures, but tbh, I can recall all interactions I had with people pretty well, and you are the only one I've suggested Lawzawa to recently lol (and I should do a better job at advocating for it).
I actually find Aizawa very attractive, before and after the time skip (I don't know if this comes a shocker or not lmao), and yes, I too think he's one of the better written characters and I'm so glad Ohba decided to keep him in, even though he planned to kill him or something (firmly believe that unconsciously he knew their dynamic was perfect).
And yes! I have a issue about that too. I'm not the biggest Misa fan, but I find annoying how most people boil her down to those things - being hot and a girl boss that can do no wrong. That's what happens to all female death note characters, and while I understand people use it to uplift them or something like that, it stopped having that effect long ago and now it just feels infantilizing and they are making them one-dimensional, denying them of all their actual traits.
I don't want to sound as an hypocrite, so I'll say that I did write that Ohba's characterization of her was one dimensional to begin with - he just wanted a fashionable childish girl that was obsessed with Kira, since a solely male cast was boring (his words not mine). I still agree with this, but in that post I continued by saying that that's all what transpired, but I have to disagree with my past self. That was Ohba's intention, but what it was shown to us was quite different. I am still working on trying not to read some parts of the story based only on authorial intent, but also what he unintentionally created, so I guess this, combined with the fandom treatment, made me find her character hollow and I still don't have a full interpretation of her character right now, since it's hard for me to get interested in her after all these years.
Not a lot to say about Misa's relation with Light, because I agree. I also find weird that people have to state that Light is gay and that's why it's wrong for Misa to force him in a (het) relationship, like no, it's just wrong even without that.
