When Fun on Two Wheels Becomes Dangerous
Riding a bike is a great way for people to travel to and from, get a little exercise, and participate in a form of sport. While this is a fun and alternative way to get around town, a bicyclist must always air on the side of caution when in the presence of vehicles. Car accidents happen all too frequently, and bicyclists can suffer the consequences for a driver being irresponsible. A huge topic among riders is how to help prevent a ride from becoming dangerous. Whether riding solo or as a group, taking safety precautions can help decrease the chances of someone being hit by a car.
What are cars such a threat to bicyclists?
In our society, people are often rushing from one place to another, all the while being distracted by cell phones which are glued to their palms. When you combine a speedy driver with a distraction, a devastating collision can occur. Awareness of texting and driving has increased over the years, with the rise of more vehicle accidents. However, bicyclists can be severely impacted as well, especially without the protection of an outer shield as a barrier to sudden force.
What can a rider do to be more safe when sharing the road with cars?
While a bicyclist cannot 100% prevent an accident from happening, there are safety strategies that can help greatly reduce the chances. You cannot control the car driver, but you can control how you maneuver on the roadway. A bicyclist should consider following these tips below, to help keep themselves safe and out of harm’s way:
Wear a helmet that fits well, and always buckle the straps snugly
Do not ever ride against the flow of traffic
Follow the same stop signs & traffic lights as vehicles do
Memorize hand signals & use it to communicate with drivers
Do not wear headphones for music, as this can prevent you from observing potential threats
Keep an eye out for parked cars, as doors can be opened suddenly
Never ride your bike during extreme weather inclements
Be prepared for a quick stop if needed to avoid a collision
Do not buy a bike that is either too small or too large for your body
What can I do if I am ever hit by a vehicle?
If you find yourself having been struck by a car, you should call 9-1-1 for medical attention immediately. Do not wait until hours later to see your doctor, as you could have sustained very serious injuries at the scene which require prompt treatment. Once you have taken care of yourself and are headed towards healing, you can consider meeting with an attorney about the accident.
What can an attorney do for me regarding the accident?
A Las Vegas bicycle attorney can evaluate your situation and give you advice about steps to take next. It may be possible for you to file a civil lawsuit against the driver responsible for the crash. This person may have to pay you compensation for injury costs, loss of pay due to missing work, and bicycle repairs.
Thank you to our friends and contributors at Nadia Von Magdenko & Associates for their knowledge about bicycle safety.

Are you a business owner who doesn't have an employment agreement because you think that it's not necessary to have one?
The truth is that whether you have an employee or an independent contractor, every single person you hire should sign an agreement, not because it's required by law, but because it will save you from big losses down the road and ensure your company stays on track for success.
Agreements can provide you with a solid foundation for a relationship. Therefore, your agreements should describe your expectations for the relationship, provide metrics for success, and include time frames for achieving objectives. Remember that your agreements are about the process, not the paper.

Have you ever presented and signed legal documents that you didn't fully understand? Or have you ever presented a document to your client or team member and let them sign it even though they didn't fully read and understand what they were signing?
Such scenarios are far too common. But it doesn't have to be because the agreement process is your opportunity to create clarity on your relationships, policies, and procedures, and the delivery of your product or service. When done right, it will create connection, consistency, setting boundaries, and establishing expectations.
If your current agreement process isn't providing you with these outcomes, then this article is for you. https://bit.ly/rethinkyourelationship4thseries

Thinking about business growth is tremendously good. However, if you are not prepared, it can lead to serious problems and can cause your business to fail.
Sustaining growth requires systems and resources because the costs and workload also increase as your company expands. If you don't generate enough revenue, the costs and workload can quickly become unmanageable.
This is where "scale" comes in. Scaling your business means preparing for expansion while keeping costs and workload manageable. Bigger is desirable only if your firm is scalable.
Here are 4 tips to help ensure your company is properly scaled for sustainable growth: https://bit.ly/tipstoscaleyourbusiness

If you consider buying or selling a business, the first thing you need is an asset purchase agreement.
Most people think they can draft their APA and do not understand how complicated these contracts are. A well-drafted APA should be prepared by a lawyer who understands state and federal contract law nuances. It is also important to have a competent attorney review your document before signing it because once signed; there will be little opportunity for change.

Working with independent contractors can be an essential way to boost productivity and streamline your resources, especially during the startup phase.
Getting sued or hit with hefty fines for misclassifying an employee as a contractor is one of many risks you face when using freelance employees. But even more so if these freelancers create intellectual property that will belong entirely to them once they've created it.
To avoid this risk, make sure that any work done by freelancers belongs solely in their hands. Read to learn more: https://bit.ly/3xdUWfT

The indictment against the Trump Organization and Allen Weisselberg is a reminder that tax fraud can happen anywhere, including in small businesses.
The allegations of tax fraud by the Trump Organization are shocking, but they're not surprising. Small business owners have an especially high risk of committing this kind of crime because no one is looking over their shoulder at every step along the way.
If you own a small business or work as an independent contractor, watch to know the valuable lessons the indictment offers. https://youtu.be/Z5kBPS6m2a0
