The truly annoying thing about the Night of the Owls movie is how damn EASY it would be to rewrite it as being about Dick instead......just change the timeline to having it set when Dick first comes to live with Bruce and early on into him becoming Robin, and bam, have Cobb (instead of Lincoln March) and the Court make their move then and try to appeal to Dick as belonging with them instead of Bruce.

#also I have a soft spot for AUs in which the Court goes after Dick way back when he was Robin #and he and Bruce never really tell the others about it when they come along later #largely because they think the Court is gone and its really personal and Dick doesnt like talking about it and Bruce respects that #so that when the Court DOES reappear years later #its like Secret Family History that the others are all like WAIT WHAT about #but without it being this huge betrayal like so many family secrets in this damn family after all #because nobody was trying to keep it FROM anyone it was just really traumatic for Dick and not something there #was ever really a casual way to drop into convo y'know? #sadly Ive only ever found a couple of fics like that and they usually all have Dick as a Talon which anyone whose followed me #long knows thats unfortunately not to my taste #as I may be the only person in fandom who likes the Court of Owls but doesnt like Dick-as-a-Talon #fhalfhalkfhalkfhkal Im so fucking picky #oh well i gotta be me #who the fuck else would I be
