[Animabri appears in the creation myths of the Krachi people of Togo and Ghana; specifically, he is the first creature to kill humans. In Harold Scheub’s A Dictionary of African Mythology, Animabri is referred to as a “giant ground toucan”. Which is not a thing that exists, and if it did, wouldn’t exist in Africa. It’s a hornbill. So this entry pulls in some other ground hornbill lore from throughout Africa to round out what I could only find passing references to.]

Animabri CR 9 CE Magical Beast This great black bird has an oversized beak with a short crest at its base. Colorful patches of bare flesh mark its face, and hang from its neck in a wattle.

The animabris are sinister avian predators that resemble a ground hornbill the size of an elephant. They have powers over death and misfortune, and people where animabris roam are leery of even mundane hornbills. Although they are fully flighted, an animabri is not very agile in the air, so spends most of its time on the ground. Animabris have incredibly keen vision, and ignore invisibility and illusions. They use this in their pursuit of small game. “Small” in this case is proportionate to the animabri, so includes creatures such as antelope, wild pigs and people.

An animabri is shrouded by a perpetual aura of misfortune. Most creatures are cursed by its mere presence, making fighting back against such a beast difficult. This curse of misfortune is temporary, but a well-placed peck or claw can bestow a more permanent curse on an enemy. Victims slain by an animabri have their souls severed from their bodies, making them harder to raise from the dead. Incorporeal undead tend to be more common than usual in animabri country, although the monstrous birds do not associate with such restless spirits.

Most animabris live in social units consisting of a single family—a mated pair and their adult children. These families are insular and clannish. They fight to the death with other animabris over hunting territory. Only when the parents grow old does the family split up, each member trying to find a mate to start its own little clan. Despite their group living, they are more competitive than cooperative when it comes to foraging, and may bicker over a choice meal or trinket. Animabris are interested in treasure, but have little idea of value. Their hoards contain the most brightly colored and shiniest objects they can find, regardless of their actual worth.

An animabri can live around 40-50 years. They can speak Common, which they use primarily to deliver threats and boasts.

A creature that succeeds its save is immune to that animabri’s aura of misfortune for the next 24 hours. This is a curse effect, and the save DC is Charisma based. Cursed Critical (Su) If an animabri successfully confirms a critical hit against an opponent, that creature must succeed a DC 17 Will save or be cursed (as per bestow curse—the animabri chooses the effect). The save DC is Charisma based. Sever Life (Su) A creature that is killed by an animabri is difficult to return to life; such a creature can only be raised or resurrected with a successful DC 24 caster level check. This is a curse effect. True Seeing (Su) An animabri gains the constant benefits of a true seeing spell as a supernatural ability.

the sun and the moon have always been known as lovers. the people of the amazon told a story of the two celestial bodies, bound to love each other from a distance. the krachi of west africa knew them as the couple that birthed the stars. and maybe, if those people were around today, they could tell you that the sun and moon were reborn, giving a physical body to their otherworldly spirits. and they could scour the earth for those two gravity bound souls, search every canyon and ocean for the people who they found fit the bill to reunite them. but they should be assured because the sun and the moon found one another under the treetops of tokyo.

in this rendition, they weren't going to fall out of love, or be eternally separated only to meet during an eclipse. at least you hoped, there was never any certainty behind human love, especially in a world filled with curses and horrors, a world where either of you could fall out of orbit and rejoin the heavens up above.

you think that's what makes you cherish moments like these more, more than you would if your life wasn't on the line on a daily basis at least.

something about him made you believe he really was the personification of the moon. maybe it was the way words fell from his mouth with more ease at two in the morning. the way his black hair fell into his face, creating a faux impression of a waning gibbous.

“why did you fall in love with me?” the shadows of bedroom curtains cast across his face. his question isn't hard for you to answer, you've always felt drawn to him, like you were fitting pieces of a puzzle, like he was meant to orbit you.

"I guess it came to me naturally, you've sort of always felt like a completion of me" a sleepy grin spread across your face as you whispered your confession to him. and like a small sliver carved from the moon, his smile spread and made you feel like it was chasing away every shadow in the room. he pulled you in tighter that night, ear pressed against his t-shirt clad chest, lulled to sleep by the gentle and slow thrum of his heartbeat.

sometimes the two of you made time for day-trips down to the coast, strolling the beach at the sun's final hours. you were both walking that sacred edge between the sea and the shore, salty water lapping at your bare feet and sand tickling your toes. the water always seemed drawn to him, a noticeable high tide no matter what time the two of you sought out the ocean. the salty breeze filled your senses, blowing through your hair and carrying the seabirds on its back.

you waded deeper into the water, soaking through the majority of the bottoms you were wearing, motioning to megumi with your hands and a smile plastered to your face. he always found that the water was warmer when he was with you.

"your eyes look like this", in front of you your hands were forming a frame where the heavens met the flooded earth. he brought his head over your shoulder, looking through the frame.

"the way you talk about me, it makes me feel good" the red flushing his cheeks and tinting his ears contrasted the blacks and blues of his hair and eyes. "that's how it's supposed to be, isn't it?" you questioned teasingly before placing a firm but soft kiss to his lips.

you had this way about you, it made him melt into some malleable gooey thing. it made his chest warm and his thoughts of the future bright, it returned every stolen moment of joy tenfold. and your warmth seeped into him, scared away the darkness that built shelter in his bones. everything was easier with you, you acted like a guiding light. he knows he would follow you into the darkest depths, because you were light and he couldn't look away.

"you know your eyes, they kinda look like this" he created some grand motion with his arms gesturing to your surroundings. before you could express your confusion he finished his statement.

"like everything good in the world"

when he finished his statement, he turned back to you with a soft expression. and there you were, shining so brightly, outshining the setting sun behind you; and all he can think is how he would willingly orbit you forever.

he knew that a while ago, that he would chase in your gravitational path. it was hard for him to place the moment exactly because he could probably recall hundreds where he had felt this way.

was it the first time you two met back in highschool? or was it the countless times he watched you prioritize an animal or child's safety before your own. it could've been that time he was sat across from you in a cafe, he caught himself watching how sunbeams refracted in your eyes.

it didn't matter really, you were here with him now, the light still as bright as ever in your eyes. you were picking up seashells now, he liked the way the sun passed through your hair, the way even the last few rays of sun clung to you. he truly couldn't help but stare; even his eyes being pulled in by your gravity.

you waded your way through the water back to him, dropping a few small white seashells into his hand like sacred treasures, talking about a hermit crab shell you had seen but didn't want to disturb. you were smiling up at him like a child proud of their findings, and he was looking down at you like you created the stars yourself.

but if both of you had looked up, you would've seen that brief moment where both the sun and the moon hang in the sky. the sun saying its hello's and goodbyes to the moon as it took it's shift. and maybe if you had the ear for planets and stars, you would hear them fondly whispering over the two of you, both of them smiling down on you hoping that was them in another life.

Jak jsou připravené největší české banky na run a ekonomickou krizi

Podle české ekonomky Markéty Šichtářové se finanční krize bank přesouvá do Evropy. Ekonom Trinity Bank Lukáš Konanda, na svém Twitterovém účtu sdílel příklady i evropských bank, kterých se ekonomická krize týká. Zátěžovým testem neprošla ani jedna z největších švýcarských bank Credit Suisse. Tato banka působila na trhu 167 let. Přežila velkou hospodářskou krizi ze 30. let a finanční krizi z roku 2008. Současná finanční krize sotva začala a už pokládá tak obrovské banky. Na základě toho by si lidé více, než kdy jindy měli zjistit, jaká banka v českém prostředí je nejspolehlivější. Vše jsme udělali za vás a zeptali jsme se tiskových mluvčích bank, jak jsou jejich banky připravené na takzvané runy na bank a přicházející ekonomickou krizi. Všem deseti největším českým bankám jsme položili stejné otázky a věříme, že odpovědí získané vám pomohou se lépe zorientovat a zvážit v jaké bance je nejbezpečnější mít uchované své peníze. Fio banka 1) Jak se vaše banka připravuje na nadcházející ekonomickou krizi a krachy bank? Jako finanční instituce podléhající regulaci ze strany České národní banky musíme mít a také máme připravené plány a postupy pro různé krizové scénáře. A dle těchto bychom pak případně postupovali v případě krize likvidity. Obecně si ale nemyslíme, že by v Česku hrozily příliš černé scénáře, jelikož český bankovní sektor je dlouhodobě stabilní a je dobře kapitálově vybaven. 2) Je vaše banka schopna zvládnout run na banku? Takzvaný run na banku by samozřejmě byl pro každou banku rizikem, proto také denně monitorujeme plnění limitů likvidity, aby nebyla ohrožena krátkodobá likvidita banky a tedy naše schopnost vyplácet klientům jejich peníze. Ve Fio bance plníme požadavky na krytí likvidity s mnohonásobnou rezervou a naše LCR se pohybuje nad 700 %. Jsme tak vůči takové krizi odolní více než průměr sektoru. 3) V případě runu na banku budete nějak omezovat své klienty? Omezíte výběry, převody peněz nebo podniknete vůči svým klientům jiné restrikce? Neradi bychom nějaké podobné situace přivolávali, ale pokud by přeci jen něco takového nastalo, budeme postupovat dle našich připravených plánů pro případ krize likvidity a vypracovaného ozdravného plánu. Nechystáme se klienty omezovat. Jedním z řešení krize likvidity je například odprodej rychle likvidních aktiv nebo repo operace se státními dluhopisy a pokladničními poukázkami, čímž bychom pohotově získali další prostředky k vyplácení klientům. Další možností je i realizace půjčky od ČNB. 4) Jsou vklady vašich klientů pojištěné vůči krachu? Pokud ano, tak do jaké výše? Vklady klientů jsou ze zákona pojištěny do výše 100 000 EUR na klienta. Moneta Money bank 1) Jak se vaše banka připravuje na nadcházející ekonomickou krizi a krachy bank? MONETA dlouhodobě vykazuje velmi silnou kapitálovou pozici s výrazným přebytkem kapitálu. Aktuálně tento přebytek dosahuje hodnoty více než 5 mld. Kč. 2) Je vaše banka schopna zvládnout run na banku? Likviditní pozice banky je taktéž velmi vysoká. Na začátku března (k 10. březnu 2023) banka disponovala provozní likviditou v objemu 116mld. Kč, což představuje 36% celkové hodnoty klientských vkladů (320 mld. Kč) respektive 42% hodnoty klientských vkladů s možností výběru na požádání (279mld. Kč). 3) V případě runu na banku budete nějak omezovat své klienty? Omezíte výběry, převody peněz nebo podniknete vůči svým klientům jiné restrikce? Objem vkladů krytých pojištěním v březnu dosáhl částky 266 mld. Kč, což odpovídá 83% všech klientských vkladů v bance (320 mld. Kč). 4) Jsou vklady vašich klientů pojištěné vůči krachu? Pokud ano, tak do jaké výše? Pojištění se vztahuje na všechny vklady fyzických a právnických osob vedené v českých korunách i v cizí měně. Jde především o vklady uložené na běžných, spořících, termínovaných nebo vkladových účtech. Klient obdrží 100 % náhrad svých vkladů, pokud nepřesáhly částku 100 000 eur (přibližně 2,4 mil. korun). Air bank 1) Jak se vaše banka připravuje na nadcházející ekonomickou krizi a krachy bank? Air Bank je silná a stabilní banka, která je kapitálově dobře vybavená a dlouhodobě generuje zisk. 2) Je vaše banka schopna zvládnout run na banku? O své peníze uložené u nás se nemusí klienti vůbec bát. 3) V případě runu na banku budete nějak omezovat své klienty? Omezíte výběry, převody peněz nebo podniknete vůči svým klientům jiné restrikce? (bez odpovědi) 4) Jsou vklady vašich klientů pojištěné vůči krachu? Pokud ano, tak do jaké výše? Peníze klientů jsou ze zákona ve všech zemích Evropské unie v každé bance ze 100 procent pojištěny do výše 100 tisíc eur (cca 2,4 milionu korun) na jednoho klienta a jednu banku. Komerční banka 1) Jak se vaše banka připravuje na nadcházející ekonomickou krizi a krachy bank? Aktuální události nemají žádný vliv na řízení či stabilitu Skupiny Komerční banky. 2) Je vaše banka schopna zvládnout run na banku? KB je kapitálově velmi dobře vybavená banka s dostatečnou likviditou. 3) V případě runu na banku budete nějak omezovat své klienty? Omezíte výběry, převody peněz nebo podniknete vůči svým klientům jiné restrikce? Ve všech regulatorních parametrech překračujeme minimální požadavky regulátora trhu, tj. České národní banky. 4) Jsou vklady vašich klientů pojištěné vůči krachu? Pokud ano, tak do jaké výše? Vklady v českém bankovním systému jsou kryté v souladu s evropskou a českou legislativou Fondem pojištění vkladů, a to včetně úroků a až do výše ekvivalentu částky 100 000 EUR. ČSOB 1) Jak se vaše banka připravuje na nadcházející ekonomickou krizi a krachy bank? Kapitál je jedním z hlavních předpokladů pro bezpečnost a zdraví bank. V zájmu bezpečnosti a ochrany vkladů musí být banky schopny absorbovat případné ztráty a stále fungovat v dobrých i špatných časech. K tomu se používá kapitál bank. ČSOB udržuje silnou kapitálovou pozici, což dokládá ukazatel (nejkvalitnějšího) kmenového kapitálu Tier 1 (CET1) ve výši 19,8 % za rok 2022, který je bezpečně nad požadavky předepsanými ČNB. Dobrou likviditní pozici ČSOB dokresluje nízký podíl úvěrů k vkladům (70,6 % v roce 2022) i ukazatele likvidity počítané dle nařízení Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), kdy ukazatel krátkodobé likvidity (LCR, poměr našich vysoce likvidních aktiv vůči krátkodobým závazkům za stresové situace) dosáhl v roce 2022 hodnoty 156,2 % a ukazatel dlouhodobé likvidity (NSFR, poměr stabilních či dlouhodobých zdrojů vůči našim dlouhodobým aktivům) dosáhl 171,8 %. Rating hodnotí důvěryhodnost dané entity a její schopnost splácet své závazky. ČSOB má dlouhodobý rating od agentury S&P na stupni „A+“, což je nejvyšší rating z velkých bank na českém trhu. Agentura Moody’s udělila ČSOB rating na stupni „A1“. ČSOB je zároveň v souladu se stanoviskem, které zveřejnila Česká národní banka – https://www.cnb.cz/cs/cnb-news/aktuality/Vyjadreni-CNB-k-potizim-svetovych-bank/a také s komentářem České bankovní asociace – cbaonline.cz/cesky-bankovni-sektor-je-velmi-stabilni. 2) Je vaše banka schopna zvládnout run na banku? V českém bankovním sektoru nepůsobí banky s obchodním modelem podobným bankám, které se dostaly do problémů v USA. Domácí banky nemají prakticky žádné finanční propojení s americkými bankami, které se dostaly do problémů, což platí také pro mateřské společnosti domácích bank. Domácí banky rovněž nemají významné finanční propojení s bankou Credit Suisse, u níž dnes došlo k významnému propadu ceny akcií. 3) V případě runu na banku budete nějak omezovat své klienty? Omezíte výběry, převody peněz nebo podniknete vůči svým klientům jiné restrikce? (bez odpovědi) 4) Jsou vklady vašich klientů pojištěné vůči krachu? Pokud ano, tak do jaké výše? (bez odpovědi)

Závěr

Stejné otázky byly také položeny České Spořitelně, Raiffeisenbank, Hypoteční bance, PPF bance a J&T Bance. Ty však o své finanční bezpečnosti raději neposkytly informace. Jak z většiny odpovědí vyplývá, tak většina bank se vyhnula třetí otázce (bez odpovědi a nebo nepřímá odpověď), zda v případě finanční krize budou nějak omezovat vklady a výběr klientů. Jediná Fio banka odpověděla přímo a poskytla informace o svém „plánu a řešení“, jak by této krizi čelila. Zajimavé v této souvislosti jsou také informace ze strany Moneta Money bank, které nažnačují, že tato banka má vysoký kapitál, aby této krizi čelila. Všeobecně dobrou informací je vyjádření ČSOB, že naše české banky nejsou napojeny na zahraniční banky v USA, nebo na Credit Suisse. Z toho zřejmě vyplývá, že případná bankovní krize by české banky mohla zasáhnout jen minimálně a díky přísné regulaci ČNB by celkově české banky měli v této krizi obstát. Read the full article
