My @greateasterncutlery #44 Buffalo Jack has seen a good amount of use. I flattened the tip through oversharpening, even though I am fully capable of sharpening without doing so. The last time I was at the GEC factory Bill Howard was kind enough to sharpen the knives I had with me himself, and it was bad enough that he mentioned that I should be more careful in sharpening 🤦‍♂️ So I decided to completely reprofile it and reshape the edge to bring it as close to the original blade shape as possible. The @greateasterncutlery #15 Beer Scout. It's a knife that was not made in limited quantities, but has become rarer, sought after, and valuable. This is due to an influx of traditional knife enthusiasts (who tend to also appreciate craft beer) since it was released in 2015 but, in the long run especially, moreso because the "Beer Scout" name, branding, and shield will never be used again. This is due, apparently, to the Boy Scouts contacting GEC in reference to the "Beer Scout" name being too close to their trademarked "Boy Scouts" and not in line with their values (I haven't seen this letter, so I don't know exactly what it says). The Ramfoot, Lambfoot, and Sheepfoot blade shapes (top to bottom). @greateasterncutlery designates all three as "3" in their tang stamp system. All of these blade shapes consist of a straight edge, and a spine with a long straight section starting at the handle then a rounded angle that connects a smaller straight section to meet with the edge and forms the tip. A Ramfoot (a new name coined by GEC, much to the chagrin of some traditionalists) is when that blade's spine angles upward away from the edge. A Sheepfoot is when the spine is parallel with the edge. A Lambfoot is when the spine angles downward toward the edge. Knife Thoughts at the @greateasterncutlery Rendezvous! This was my first time displaying and it was heaps of fun and a great learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with lots of knowledgeable and passionate knife enthusiasts, including several whom I've talked with online for a good while. I learned that I should have a Knife Thoughts shirt and banner, that I should bring knives to sell and have my prices predetermined, and that it'd be a lot easier with two people (nudge nudge @raseyceitz ). I got to talk with @collectorknives @traditionalpocketknives @knivesshipfree @jsr_sports and Ken of Blue Creek Cutlery and Maher & Grosh as well as Charlie and several other well respected collectors.
