Some more reviews of Klokkenluider!
Jenna Coleman apparently only appears towards the end of the film, but the critics speak almost unanimously very positively about her performance, and the film in general. I've only included quotes directly related to Jenna here, but you can read the entire reviews in full by going to the links I've added. But be aware that there are some spoilers about the film below.
"[Jenna] Coleman takes on a Malcolm Tucker-inspired magnificence of expletive heavy, theatrical posturing as a journalist set on telling Ewan's story and the de facto boss of Chris and Glynn. You've never seen Jenna Coleman like this, and she is exemplary."
⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Once Jenna Coleman is introduced in the film’s final third, she is a true delight delivering a sweary, outburst heavy performance, a far cry from her roles in Victoria or Doctor Who and showing a range she hasn’t been afforded to tap into to date."
⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Unlike Pinter’s Godot, the journalist does eventually arrive. Played by Jenna Coleman, she’s not what anyone’s expecting, not least because she’s not the established name the couple were told was coming. Coleman’s belligerent freelancer amusingly cites slashed print budgets as to why a senior staff journalist isn’t driving all the way to Belgium for a tip-off that might not be of any real national security concern. But more importantly, it might not be of any use in shifting enough copies to satisfy advertisers.
Coleman delivers her rapid-fire lines well, and the addition of a confrontational new player to proceedings is welcome. "
"When Jenna Coleman arrives as a no-nonsense, foul-mouthed journalist, she shatters the group’s makeshift bond with a single word, and proceeds to deliver a memorable speech to the anxious couple. Coleman is terrific, recalling the sharp-talking bravado of her Doctor Who character and adding an acerbic, brittle, tabloid edge."

Klokkenluider is now available to buy from Apple movies, Youtube movies and Prime Video.

It was dark, thrilling and worth the £9.99 to satisfy my need to see all of the Tom Burke things ever!
My Wee - no spoilers - review:
I didn't mind spending money as a big fan of both Tom Burke and of Neil Maskell but if you don't like thrillers or indy movies with an unsettling vibe then maybe wait for it to get picked up by a streaming or TV channel.
8/10 - why did I watch it alone in the dark during a storm?!

As always, beware of spoilers, but this review of Jackdaw certainly has one of the more intriguing headlines. It also compares Jenna Coleman's character to a certain feline-themed "frenemy" of the Caped Crusader, while actually making a very subtle implication (note: implication - nothing has been announced and if Jackdaw follows the same trajectory as Klokkenluider, we may not see it for another year) at possible timing for a proper release of the film.

London Film Festival Review: Neil Maskell’s ‘Klokkenluider’
London Film Festival Review: Neil Maskell’s ‘Klokkenluider’
Kill List star Neil Maskell makes his feature directorial debut with the dark comedy Klokkenluider, which had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. The title is Dutch for “whistleblower,” and Maskell’s script sees a couple hiding out in a remote Belgian cottage, nervously preparing to spill the beans to a newspaper journalist. When they’re joined by two bodyguards, tensions rise but…

LFF2022: The list of films
I guess one has to start from the beginning, so to understand this blog read my mission statement and then feel free to peruse my reviews of the films, all listed below, I will link to my musings about each film from here as I progress and I hope to refine them as I revisit them in the future, apologies about the silly mistakes, I am writing of the cuff mostly on my free time, away from my job that has nothing to do with film.
Any comments and suggestions can be done to my twitter account @allyear_lff ( https://twitter.com/allyear_lff ) and I believe comments are open here in Tumblr.

With everything else going on this month (which ought to renamed from September to Jennatember, because it is Jenna Coleman's month), I fear I may have not mentioned Klokkenluider enough. I've not seen it yet, and hope for an international release soon!
After being shown at a few film festivals, Jenna Coleman's new film, Klokkenluider, was released to numerous cinemas across the UK on the 1st of September. Along with the release came a number of new reviews of the film, the vast majority of which have been quite positive.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Klokkenluider currently has a critics score of 91%!
Here are two recent critical reviews of the film:
It’s here Jenna Coleman enters the fray and steals the show as the very sweary journalist that everyone’s been waiting on.
But it's Jenna Coleman, from TV's Victoria, who steals the show, swooping in for the last 20 hectic minutes as Flo, a foul-mouthed news reporter. Crotchety from the day's travel, she speaks in raging, rapid-fire sentences, sometimes oddly poetic, such as, "Long drive, f***ing pounding rain, f***ing shit story? Very angry me!"

Jenna Coleman's 2022 Year in Review, part 1: Acting
In short, 2022 was almost the opposite of 2021 in this regard. From January to June, Jenna didn't do any acting (that we know of), but after that, she was very busy most of the time working on Wilderness, Jackdaw, and rehearsing for Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons.
Bad news first: in 2022, Jenna had less screen time than in any other year of her acting career since 2011. There are numerous reasons for this, including her break from April 2021 to June 2022, and various delays. She appeared prominently in one episode of The Sandman, and had a small and tiny appearance in two others. She also voiced Melia Antiqua in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Good news: 2023 is going to be a very good year for Jenna Coleman fans, with Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons, Klokkenluider, Wilderness, and possibly also Jackdaw being released. Jenna was arguably involved in more projects this year than ever before. She promoted the release of the film Klokkenluider, and started filming Jackdaw. She promoted the TV show The Sandman, and filmed Wilderness. She started rehearsing for the play Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons. And the game Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was released.
The Sandman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10 episodes of The Sandman season 1 were released on Netflix on the 5th of August 2022. As was announced in 2021, Jenna played Johanna Constantine, a sort-of, but not quite genderbent John Constantine. Johanna goes through similar events as John in the comics, but reacts differently to them, being her own unique character. Episode 3 of The Sandman, "Dream a Little, Dream of Me", predominantly revolves around her.
Several additional scenes were added to that episode, to establish her character, such as the ones shown in the two gifs above, in which she is tasked with exorcising a demon from a princess, and dresses up as a priest for the occasion.
Jenna also played the ancestor of Johanna Constantine; Lady Johanna Constantine, in episode 6 of The Sandman, "The Sound of her Wings". She appears in the scene set in 1789, during the sequence of meetings between Morpheus and Hob Gadling every 100 years. Although this appearance was brief, it marks the introduction of her character, who will appear again in future episode(s) of The Sandman.
Tumblr media
Jenna was phenomenal in both roles, and received tons of praise for her portrayal of both Constantines. Since the release of the show, a lot of people have requested for her to get her own spinoff show! Unfortunately, I think it is unlikely to happen, given how reluctant Netflix was to even renew The Sandman, but you never know!
Both Constantines are very unique roles for Jenna, these are parts the likes of which she has never played before. And just as she always does, she really made them stand out, and be unique. Just as she does for all of her roles, she gave them their own unique way of speaking, a unique pronunciation. She talked a lot about how she approached playing the characters, and how she portrayed their rough, cynical, sweary outside, to hide their true feelings.
Tumblr media
Jenna also did a lot of promotional work for The Sandman in the months leading up to the release. The above gif is from a video of the cast of The Sandman associating a word or phrase relating to the show, to every letter of the alphabet, for Entertainment Weekly.
We don't yet know for sure if Jenna will reprise her role(s) for season 2 of The Sandman, but she did share this behind-the-scenes picture of herself as Johanna Constantine meeting Morpheus (played by Tom Sturridge) on Instagram after the announcement of the renewal of the show.
Tumblr media
Hopefully, Jenna will receive the awards and nominations she deserves for her amazing acting in the show next year!
Xenoblade Chronicles
Tumblr media
Jenna also reprised her role as Melia Antiqua in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which was released on the 29th of July 2022. Above is a picture of her doing the voice acting for the game. You can watch the cutscenes from the game here:

Klokkenluider
After a long period of uncertainty about its release, Klokkenluider, the film Jenna Coleman filmed in February to March 2021, had its world premiere on the 8th of October at the London Film Festival. It was subsequently also shown at the Cambridge Film Festival, and the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. It was announced to be more widely released at some point next year.
Jenna's character, Flo, was reported to only appear in the final act of the film. She is a very sweary character, apparently even more so than Johanna Constantine. One review of the film said that "Coleman must hold some kind of record of how many times a character can say any version or abbreviation of the word “cunt” in under a minute, but her role is the most fun I’ve seen the actress ever have on screen."
The reviews of the film and Jenna's acting in it have been almost universally very positive. So I can't wait to see it!
Tumblr media
Wilderness
On the 17th of June, 2022, Jenna Coleman was announced to lead the Amazon Prime show "Wilderness", in which she plays Liv Taylor. It is based on the novel of the same name by B.E. Jones. Filming took place in Canada and the USA from the 17th of June to the 1st of October. The show will mainly revolve around her and Will Taylor, played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
It was announced that it would be released next year, but we are still waiting for a date to be announced for it. The behind the scenes pictures show that they filmed in lots of beautiful scenery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jackdaw
This is a "secret" new film that Jenna started working on in the week of the 5th of December. It is apparently directed by Jamie Childs, and also stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen. Everyone involved has tried to keep talk about it to a minimum, and there have not been any public announcements about it yet, besides casting calls for various roles.
At the moment, we only know very little about it. Given the deliberate secrecy, it is likely that "Jackdaw" will not be the final name of the film. But what we do know, is that Jenna dyed her hair a light shade of blonde, much lighter than her hair colour in The Cry.
Tumblr media
We know that Jenna wears a black outfit, and is involved in several action sequences. She even has a stunt double for these scenes!
At the moment, it is impossible to say when it will be released. Jenna has only worked on it for a brief period so far, as rehearsals for Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons started soon after the start of filming. Other actors involved in the film have, however, been working almost right until Christmas on it. It is quite possible that Jenna will continue filming it, after the play is done, in April 2023.
Tumblr media
Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons
On the 8th of November, it was announced that Jenna Coleman and Aidan Turner would star as Bernadette and Oliver in the play Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons. It will be shown at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London from the 18th of January to the 18th of March, then in Manchester from the 21st to the 25th of March, and finally in Brighton from the 28th of March to the 1st of April.
The promotion for the play has been absolutely amazing. The play immediately had an official Instagram and Twitter account, and its own website. Additionally, there was a photoshoot for the play, a TV interview at the BBC's today show, and a radio interview during the Zoe Ball Breakfast show. And all of that weeks before rehearsals even began!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For fans living outside the UK, it remains unclear if it will be possible to see the play. But hopefully, it will be recorded for NTLive, just like All My Sons was.
The War Rooms
This is a show, that Jenna was announced to be the lead actress in, and the executive producer for, on the 27th of April 2021. However, since the initial announcement, there has not been any news about it whatsoever. Although this could be interpreted as the show having been scrapped, Jenna Coleman recently said during a Comic Con, that it was still in development, that it was just taking a long time.
Perhaps filming for it will start in 2023?

Klokkenluider reviews!
"It’s with a knock at the door during a game of charades where events take an incredibly dark turn and Maskell’s debut fully comes into its own. It’s here Jenna Coleman enters the fray and steals the show as the very sweary journalist that everyone’s been waiting on."
⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Klokkenluider is actor Neil Maskell’s directorial debut and we deem it to be a very assured one indeed."
"Most of Maskell’s film is about the strenuous, stressful wait for the journalist’s arrival. There are shades of Wheatley’s dark and bleak worldview: Ewan comes to the conclusion that nothing really matters anymore, ultimately confirmed and reinforced by Jenna Coleman’s journalist Flo, who assures Ewan it probably never did, as if this would provide any comfort to anyone at all."
"It helps that the film is filled with great performances by great actors who can convincingly perform the dialogue."
"The snappy dialogue keeps things interesting enough, although very little actually happens in the middle. It never drags per se, but when Coleman’s Flo arrives, the film begins its approach to a darkly chaotic finale. Coleman must hold some kind of record of how many times a character can say any version or abbreviation of the word “cunt” in under a minute, but her role is the most fun I’ve seen the actress ever have on screen."
⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Late in the film comes an absolutely scene stealing appearance from Jenna Coleman who plays Flo, the fast talking, super sweary journalist who has been sent to take the story. It’s a universally fantastic cast selling the hell out of a very funny script."
⭐⭐⭐⭐
"The four main actors, along with a spectacularly foul-mouthed, quick-talking Jenna Coleman (The Serpent, The Sandman) as the journalist, give terrific performances that complement one another and contain impressive character work and cutting line delivery."
⭐⭐⭐✨
Klokkenluider is getting very good reviews! The people who managed to see the premiere also said very positive things about it. For instance:
"Jenna Coleman is perfect in every role she's in, 10/10"

Klokkenluider, starring Jenna Coleman, to debut at Toronto International Film Festival
Klokkenluider, described as a black comedy which co-stars Jenna Coleman, will debut at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, running Sept. 8-18, it has been announced.
The film is part of an “Industry Selects” series aimed at promoting the featured movies for industry professionals and distributors.
Which means it may still be a while before we’re able to see the movie itself, but at least it will finally get a screening. Jenna filmed the movie in early 2021, around the time she finished work on Sandman, and it had been said that director Neil Maskell was waiting for a film festival berth to release the movie.
Jenna co-stars with Tom Burke in the film and it is pretty much her first major role in a theatrical-released film, given her previous movie appearances have been either a cameo (Captain America), a minor supporting role (Me Before You), a National Theatre Live cinema stream (All My Sons) or a theatrical screening of Doctor Who episodes.
EDIT: According to the report, this will not be a public screening, just for “accredited industry professionals” so whether it counts as an official premiere is debatable. No confirmation of date or whether Jenna might attend as yet. This does confirm speculation that the movie has yet to find a distributor.
Update (October 4/22): For the benefit of anyone coming to this through a google search, the “official” premiere of the film has ended up being the early October screening at London Film Festival (there have been no reports of reviews or anything else coming out of the Industry screening at TIFF which was indeed, it seems, a private affair); it has also been booked for the Cambridge Film Festival in late October. But wide release (or streaming availability) has yet to be announced.

Still no word as to when or if Jenna Coleman's film Klokkenluider will get a proper release or remain a European film festival exclusive. In the meantime, a handful of reviews can be found on Letterboxd. I don't know if any of these differ from what might be found on Rotten Tomatoes but the comments show some mixed responses one that stands out says: "Though a wonderful idea, it seemed like it was just a student film they roped Jenna Coleman into" - Ouch! Hopefully the film will be better than that though there is no denying it was a first-time film for the director shot during a time when a lot of productions had to scale-down due to C19. Jenna has done really well on TV but not counting Captain America which was just a cameo she's yet to get a proper breakthrough film. Doesn't look like Klokkenluider will be that film. Maybe Jackdaw, despite being filmed in what appeared to be record time, will change her luck. I wonder if we'll see it before Klokkenluider finally gets circulated?

15 rating for Klokkenluider?
It’s not a huge piece of news, but according to this listing for the Cambridge Film Festival screening of Jenna Coleman’s Klokkenluider, the film holds a 15 rating from the British Film Classification Board (although the BBFC website itself doesn’t have a listing for it yet). A 15 is the equivalent to an R or TV-MA rating in the US, or the higher end of the 14A rating in Canada.
My guess is it’s for language. It strikes me as a very dialogue-heavy film and  Jenna has indicated in interviews that her character is quite sweary, so if she goes full Malcolm Tucker (or rather I should say Johanna Constantine) that could be why. We’ll probably find out when the first reviews (both professional and general audience) begin rolling in after its first screening at LFF in a very few days!
Edit: Looking again at the CFF program it appears the festival has applied the 15 rating not the BBFC. So it could mean the film has yet to be officially rated by the board. I stand corrected.

Jenna Coleman's 2021 Year in Review, Part 1: Acting
With the end of the year approaching, it is time to summarize everything that happened in the last 12 months, in regards to Jenna Coleman. I will start today with a summary of her acting work and releases this year.
In one sentence, Jenna Coleman's acting achievements in 2021 started off with a bang but ended on a whimper.
The Serpent
Tumblr media
On the 1st of January 2021, BBC released all 8 episodes of The Serpent on BBC iplayer. They were also shown on BBC One at 9pm on the 1st of January, and on every Sunday after that, until the 14th of February. The viewing figures were amazing, especially on iplayer, despite very little and very late promotion for it. Episode 1 of The Serpent was watched by more people than any other single episode of any film, show, or event shown on BBC within the 3/4 year period before it. The Serpent played a major role in making the first week of January 2021 the week with the most views on iplayer ever.
When The Serpent was released on Netflix on the 2nd of April, it was similarly successful, becoming the most viewed title on Netflix in most countries around the world for a while.
The Serpent was received pretty positively overall, with a score of 7.6/10 on IMDb, for instance.
In terms of awards, it has been nominated a few times, but hasn't won any awards. Even though Jenna Coleman learned a new language, and learned a very strong English accent, and mastered the ability to easily interchange between the two as though she were bilingual, and did all of that in just 3 weeks, and successfully implemented all of that into incredibly strong performances that featured her cover the full spectrum of emotion, she has not been nominated for any award for her brilliant performance. It's crazy. Awards for acting ability don't seem to take acting ability into account at all. Seriously, how in the world is this performance not worthy of multiple nominations and awards?
Tumblr media
Ok, but at least The Serpent won all the awards for Costume Design, right? That's a complete no-brainer. It must have done. And yet, no, it didn't. Not one. There was one nomination for an award I have never heard about. And that's it. It's crazy. Sure, there will still be some awards for which The Serpent could be eligible for next year, but if this year is anything to go by, I don't think we can expect much more next year.
Klokkenluider
On the 19th of February, Jenna Coleman was announced to have been cast in the dark indie comedy movie "Klokkenluider". We don't really know much about this so far, except who was involved in it, that it plays out between just 5 characters, and is about a whistleblower and his wife who are joined by two protection officers and a journalist. There was some speculation about what part Jenna would be playing, with most people initially believing that she would be playing the role of "Silke", the wife of the whistleblower, but we now know that she will be playing "Flo", who is presumably the British journalist.
To prevent infections during the shoot, everyone involved started a quarantine on the 19th of February, before filming began on the 28th of February. Filming was announced to have been wrapped on the 22nd of March. We have not yet seen Jenna in costume as Flo (the picture below is the only picture of Jenna on the set of Klokkenluider), but she has said that she was playing a very "swear-y" character.
Tumblr media
We don't know when Klokkenluider will be released, and until recently it was uncertain if it would even be released in 2022 at all. But in her recent interview for Sheerluxe, Jenna said that it would be in early 2022.
The Sandman
Jenna Coleman hinted about this project as early as 18th December 2020 and mentioned it in numerous other interviews over the next few months. There was a lot of speculation about what it would be, but I think most people correctly guessed that it would be the Sandman. It however took until the 26th of May 2021, until her casting was officially announced. And though most people had been speculating that she would be playing Death, she was instead cast in the small role of Johanna Constantine.
Tumblr media
We don't know exactly how long Jenna Coleman spent filming her part for the show, as everything about it was kept very secretive. But we have a few indications that seem to indicate that she was filming for about 0-4 weeks. This is deduced in part from her statement about her future projects during her interview for the Table Manners with Jessie Ware podcast. She said that she would be starting to film something that she signed an NDA for (which we now know is The Sandman) in February. But we also know that from the 19th of February onwards, she was in a COVID bubble ahead of filming Klokkenluider. She was inside that COVID bubble throughout the preparations for, and the eventual filming of Klokkenluider, and was therefore unavailable for filming The Sandman until the 22nd of March. Finally, on the 10th of April, an interview with her was published, in which she said that she had finished filming Klokkenluider one week ago (so the interview might have been around the 29th of March), and that she had just finished filming a show (she didn't say that it was The Sandman, but we can infer that that was the project she was talking about).
So it is likely going to be a small role, and I guess she will only appear in 1-2 episodes of the 11 episode series. As a comparison, filming for the show took (I think) about 9 months. But even though this is somewhat disappointing, remember that it has been 6 years since Jenna has last played a non-leading character in TV, film, or theatre.
There have already been several preview videos and promotional videos for The Sandman, but we have yet to see Jenna as Johanna Constantine.
There is no release date yet for The Sandman on Netflix, but in Jenna's recent interview for Sheerluxe, she said that it would be in early 2021.
The War Rooms
Of all the announcements about Jenna this year, the one on her birthday, the 27th of April, was easily the most intriguing. She was announced to be the executive producer, and the lead actress of the upcoming multi-series historical drama, "The War Rooms". Jenna will be playing Joan Bright and will be telling the story of the lives of the women in Churchill's Whitehall bunker during the Second World War. It was announced that the series would have multiple parts, each of which would cover 12-18 months of the war. That would amount to between 4-6 series.

But in the 8 months following this exciting announcement, there has been no news whatsoever about this. Not the tiniest crumb of news. Our current knowledge about this show is exactly where it was 8 months ago. We don't know who else is cast for the show, we don't know what network will produce it (BBC, ITV, Netflix, another network?), or even when filming is going to start. This seems very odd, following the very specific announcement in April. I had fully expected the show to start filming very soon after the announcement, as is typically the case. But that clearly didn't happen.
Obviously, some major delay has affected the show. Perhaps the funding isn't there. Perhaps there are issues with the availability of some people that are intended to be involved in the project. Perhaps it is about to be cancelled. I don't think it is going to be cancelled, but at this point, who knows? Jenna's availability has certainly not been the issue, as she has not had any real commitments since the end of March, that we know of. Even though Jenna mentioned The War Rooms in the days and weeks following the announcement, in recent interviews she never seems to mention it at all. When she talked about what she is looking forward to in 2022 in a recent interview, she didn't mention The War Rooms at all. So it looks as if a start date for filming is still not agreed upon. Filming will hopefully start in 2022, but we can't be certain of that at the moment. I think the only thing we can be certain of, is that we will not be seeing The War Rooms in 2022.
Voice acting: Billion Pound Bond Street and Chimini's Story
Jenna narrated the decadent documentary about London's Bond Street. It showcased various shops in that street, how they coped with various lockdowns throughout the second half of 2020, and how they attempted to sell some incredibly expensive products. The 1 hour documentary aired on ITV at 9pm on Wednesday, the 26th of May.
Tumblr media
On the 1st of July, United World Schools released a video of Jenna narrating Chimini's story, as part of the Happily Ever Smarter campaign, which focuses on the challenges of education for girls in rural villages in Nepal, especially during the pandemic. You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/cdKpx9k2mnM
Adverts
Jenna has been involved in a number of adverts this year. Most notably is of course her involvement in Boots' Christmas advert campaign, "Bags of Joy". The adverts follow Jenna, who plays Joy, who gets a bag that is smaller on the outside, and out of which she pulls a multitude of presents for all her friends and family. You can watch segments here: https://youtu.be/R-CM_yPJDD0, and here: https://youtu.be/EUkV_mjL0P4
But let's not forget that Jenna also voiced an advert for Spoticar (https://youtu.be/HaVI9Tp2sys), and for Mercedes Benz' EQS (https://youtu.be/XhV8FQQlsKk), which wonderfully showcase Jenna's beautiful voice.
Final remarks:
This year has probably also spelt the end for Victoria. It has been more than 3 years since Victoria series 3 wrapped filming. Almost as much time has passed since the end of filming for series 3, as there has been between the start of filming for series 1 and the end of series 3. Jenna and Tom had more than enough time this year to film another series of Victoria, but they didn't. Even though there are many open questions about the status of The War Rooms, the fact that Jenna signed on to a different multi-series drama, will probably prevent her from revisiting Victoria anytime soon. And the longer the time since the third series, the less likely it is that there will be a fourth one. The status of Victoria is still that it has not been officially cancelled (yet), but that there are currently no plans for another series.
The start of the year was fantastic. In the first three months, she promoted The Serpent, her first major project in the 2 years before 2021. She filmed parts in both The Sandman and Klokkenluider. Around that same time, she was probably also cast as leading actress and executive producer of The War Rooms. When that was announced, she had 3 upcoming projects. I think the last time Jenna had three different upcoming projects was in the summer of 2015, when she had already finished filming Me Before You, and Doctor Who series 9, and was about to start filming Victoria series 1. But from the end of March to now, she has not done any acting, or any work leading up to some role, that we know of. Except of course for some narration and voiceover for adverts. For all we know, she could have spent all this time working on preparing for The War Rooms, but for all we know, she could also not have done anything.
Her acting work this year has been very, very minimal. She only did 3-7 weeks of filming throughout this year, that we know of. I don't think there has ever been any year in her professional acting career in which she spent less time filming. Except possibly in 2010, when she filmed a tiny role in "Captain America: The First Avenger", and a leading role in the short film "Corporate Monster". But in that year, she spent a lot of time auditioning for many different roles, and that would eventually pay off in the following year when she was cast in, and about to be cast in increasingly prominent roles. Perhaps she also spent a lot of time auditioning for roles this year, and her comments in the latest galaxycon Q&A could support that. Since 2018, in which she spent 10 months filming The Cry, and Victoria series 3, she spent less and less time filming in each year. It is sad that of the last 24 months, she spent less than 4 months filming. Of course COVID-19 plays a significant role in this disappointing statistic. But even though there were major restrictions on filming throughout much of 2020, the same has not been true in 2021, where frequent testing, COVID bubbles, and vaccination have enabled almost the same level of filming activity as before the pandemic.
It is very unfortunate that in the last 3 years, she has only worked on one major project in which she played a major role. She is an outstanding actress, and I hope that she will film The War Rooms, or be cast as a leading actress in another major film or TV show next year.
Prospect for 2022:
The Sandman and Klokkenluider will probably be released in early 2022. At the moment, we don't know anything else about Jenna's upcoming projects, or acting commitments next year.

Jenna Coleman on DVD/Blu-ray in North America (June 2022 edition)
Once in a while for the benefit of my fellow Jenna Coleman fans in North America, I’ll do a quick rundown of what TV shows or movies featuring our favourite actress are available in DVDs and Blu-rays - and what are not. In reverse chronological order (drama productions only). Spoiler break to respect timelines:
The Serpent (2021): Has been out on DVD in the UK for a while, but sadly it seems to be an example of a Netflix series that isn’t getting a physical release over here. Doesn’t bode well for her upcoming series, The Sandman though its predecessor American Gods was released to home media, so who knows. (The upcoming film Klokkenluider? Not even going to try and guess that one. The War Rooms hasn’t even started filming yet as far as we know.)
A Separate Peace (2020): This was an online play by Tom Stoppard Jenna did via Zoom mid-lockdown. A one-time shot, it’s unlikely to get any sort of re-release. I saw a copy of it kicking around Youtube for a while but no longer. A review with clips from it can be found here.
Inside No. 9 (2020): There’s been DVD release of Season 5 (including Jenna’s guest appearance) in the UK, but in North America the show isn’t well known so no release here as yet. When the recently announced American remake comes out, will it spark a Region 1 DVD or Blu-ray of the original?
Corporate Monster (2019): Filmed way back around 2010, but held for nearly a decade, it’s only been made available on Youtube. Sometimes short indie films turn up on DVD, though, especially if the director goes on to bigger and better things, so you never know.
Tumblr media
All My Sons (2019): The live stream of Jenna’s West End debut play (see above, with thanks to gifmaker @oswincoleman) was delayed until early 2020 for North American fans and unexpectedly got a streaming rebroadcast during lockdown. But National Theatre Live doesn’t tend to do DVD or Blu-ray releases, so don’t hold your breath to see this in any formal release.
Victoria (2016-19): All 3 seasons are available on DVD in North America (I’ve seen box sets of the combined seasons), but there’s no Blu-ray of S3 over here as far as I know. All are also available in the UK. The PBS edits (which include extra scenes in most regular episodes) have never been released, but may still be viewable online in the US on PBS’s website (which can’t be accessed from Canada so I can’t check).
The Cry (2018): DVD release in NA and the UK. Not overly common, but available. No Blu-ray though.
Thunderbirds Are Go (2017): Jenna did a guest voice for the first episode of Series 2 of the CGI remake series. It’s on DVD in the UK, but so far it’s only available on streaming here.
Me Before You (2016): Widely available in DVD and Blu-ray here. Sadly, I tend to see it in Wal-Mart $5 special bins these days.
Doctor Who (2012-2015; 2017): Widely available on DVD and Blu-ray. Twice Upon a Time was released on its own if you want her cameo. If you want her extra scenes as Clara (things like the Doctor Who Ultimate Guide minisode and her cameo in The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, you may need to invest in the Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi box sets. Good luck finding her DW audio story “The Time Machine” on CD, but I think you can still order a download of it from places like Big Finish (her only other known audio book, The Secret Garden, is also a rarity on CD but I think Audible has it, along with a 2018 audio drama of A Christmas Carol in which she plays a role; it’s not on CD.
Death Comes to Pemberly (2013): Widely available on DVD and Blu-ray over here, though I think as with Victoria it’s the UK edit that we got in North America, not the PBS version which may or may note have extra scenes (I’ve never been able to verify).
Dancing on the Edge (2013): Again, widely available on DVD and Blu-ray here.
Room at the Top (2012): I won’t rehash the rights issues that delayed its broadcast for a year and make it unlikely to ever get a DVD or Blu-ray release anywhere, but you can stream it on both sides of the Atlantic.
Titanic (2012): Widely available on DVD and Blu-ray. Just don’t mistake it for that little home movie James Cameron made back in the 90s.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011): It’s a Marvel movie - you can likely get it in 4K too (possibly the only Jenna release in that format). Just remember - she’s in two scenes but you might need the 4K version to see her in the second one.
Waterloo Road (2009): Jenna was a cast member for Series 5, which is on DVD in the UK. North American fans are able to watch her season on officially sanctioned YouTube uploads (still available but with the series revival I’d search for “Series 5″ specifically to skip recent uploads). DVD release has begun in North America by Acorn, but looks like only Series 1 so far.
Emmerdale (2005-09): Not a chance. You can find clips on Youtube but Jenna appeared in more than 400 episodes of the soap and the only soap opera I know of to be released in entirety on DVD was Dark Shadows.
