Well, it was so painful & heartbreaking, I started to cry even before the "dedicate your heart" scene & cried several hours long & I'm still on the verge of tears everytime I think about Hange 😭😭😭 I didn't even sleep, reading levihan [fluff or smut] fics to soothe my broken heart & chatting with my levihan moots💔

But I'm so proud of how Hange fought their last battle, they were such a badass Commander, brave until the very end. This scene was one of the most epic in the series imo

Now I'm thinking about my poor boi Levi who must go on & keep on fighting, no time to grieve for him or for the kids who lost their mom 💔

Backstory: Berwald grew up in a quieter part of Stockholm with his parents. He was always a pretty quiet child and more content to just listen and blend into the background. He was only really close with a cousin or two and even then sometimes they got to be a bit much for the tall Swede. He wanted to do something that would help people but he was too shy to be a teacher and he couldn’t handle being a doctor so eventually he ended up going into social work.

When he was researching his thesis for his Master’s degree, his travels took him to Romania where he met and befriended Andrei and his son Ilie. This started a long friendship between the two even when Berwald returned to Sweden. As his career took off he ended up meeting and having his heart stolen by a little girl named Klara who he eventually adopted. He had always wanted a family of his own and he knew biological children were not in the cards. His friendship with Andrei grew deeper and more meaningful until neither man could deny the attraction between the two of them and they began dating. Eventually Andrei and Ilie moved to Sweden and the two of them got married.

It was not long after that that Berwald got the opportunity to further his career and move to the US to work specifically with Immigrants and their living situations. After discussing it as a family, they all decided that it would be worth it to at least try. Now that he is in the US, his path crosses with Erika frequently enough that he is friendly with her. With his husband and two children, Berwald is extremely happy with his life at the moment.

Motive: A good deal of the cases he works with have strange irregularities pointing to one Richard Mann and his fellow coworkers all also have concerns about the man and the opinion that he probably isn’t as benevolent as he first appears. He is quite slippery though and nothing could be proven for sure. When the opportunity arose to actually go inside the mansion, it seemed like a good chance to snoop around and gather some concrete info so they can bring him in for at least some questioning.
