I took slightly better lit photos of my repainted Ken Looks number 5, on his DamToys 1:6 action figure body, at the request of a friend to see comparisons between that body and his original (made-to-move?) Ken body. I am so happy with him, I kind of want to repaint more Ken. I never thought I would want to, since my first repaints of Ken doll didn’t have rooted hair, and that is my preference for fashion dolls. However, I love this head sculpt, and the fact that it is a rooted head, makes it just so much nicer (IMHO).
I only regret not having the option to shrink his head a bit, since he does have a flocked under-shave; submerging the sculpt in acetone would melt the glue and ruin it. I rather keep that intact, since flocking it not something I plan on trying any time soon. I prefer smaller heads, on broader shoulders for my male dolls, so his proportions on the 1:6 action figure body are not exactly as I would have liked. However, they are better than on the super-cartoony (IMHO) default Ken Looks body.
My repainting skills need a long way to go, before I am satisfied with them. Despite that, I am still very happy with how he turned out. I am also pretty happy to learn that his default stock fits on the 1:6 action figure body, except for the shoes. I was afraid the pants wouldn’t go past his thunder thighs, but they did, even went on the padding on his inner thighs (which I didn’t even think about removing). I hope the shirt won’t stain the rubbery upper torso. I was thinking about adding some amount of texture with mostly red toned acrylics, to give the body a better match to the Ken’s plastic, but maybe I won’t have to. Not because I am lazy, but if I don’t have to, I rather not try. DX
I also regret not sanding his chin to my liking and just trying to shade it to look smaller. If I am ever adventurous, I will try to make it smaller, without damaging the rest of the repaint. (:

I finally received the 1:6 DamToys body I purchased loose/parted-out, for my Ken Looks number-5 repaint. I was hoping I would be able to get him a Leon S. Kennedy one, I waited forever to see one anywhere, before I lost all hope, so I just got this one from a parted “European s0ldier” from DamToys line of m1litary figures. I wanted the Leon one, because the paint on the upper torso matches perfectly with my repainted Ken. However, this one is not painted as red-toned as Leon’s upper body. There is some paint, but it leans more towards the average “grey-toned” skin most 1:6 action figures suffer from. It’s super hard to tell from my crappy photos (I was too lazy to use my hyper-bright desk lamp, so these are super dark). My phone’s camera had a terrible time adjusting the colors at all, because my desk is red-ish faux wood, the head sculpt is very tanned-red-toned, and the body also has a heavy tanned tone with varying degrees of gray and the middle abdomen a red-tone that actually matches my Ken pretty close.
It makes me wonder exactly how people assembling these bodies go about picking which piece goes where. I’m not criticizing them by any means, just wondering why they chose to give this specifically mostly grey-toned body a reddish toned middle abdomen piece, when they gave Leon’s body, that has a reddish-toned upper torso a grey-toned middle abdomen. DX
I’m going to give the upper torso piece a light layer of “texture” with acrylics, to give the whole action hybrid doll, a better match. Otherwise, I am pretty happy with the proportions. I wish the head was much smaller, Ken has a larger head than most 1:6 male head sculpts I own, which tend to be more or less “standard” size (for 1:6 action figures). I just prefer smaller headed toys in general. The head doesn’t look as massively large, as it appears in the last photo, that’s just me sucking at taking photos and some camera angle/distortion.
This body didn’t come to me with hands, which I already knew when I purchased it (kind of a thing when you buy parted out action figure bodies), but it did come with feet, which is pretty cool -- one less thing to worry about. Although, it’s not really a necessity with most 1:6 action figures. Because this body came without hands, I was trying my WorldBox set of eight pairs of hands that I purchased for my one WB figure I own. I was pleasantly surprised they are beautifully shaded, and the nails are also realistically painted and glossed! I don’t believe the beautiful detail shows well at all on any of these photos, but I am super happy I decided to purchase these, when I already own too many spare 1:6 action figure hands, and I certainly didn’t need any more of them. lol! They are much nicer done, than the GT, not the sculpt, but the shaded/painted details is much, much nicer (what I was hoping the GT hands would look like). They are sadly too grey and a bit too dark for this dude, thank goodness I hoard hands too -- I might have a pair that works. Otherwise, gloved hands it is. ^___^;;

My WIP Ken Looks #5 repaint. This is after the 1st layer of fixative, pastel and acrylics. I feel like I need to clean the eyes up a bit (a lot, really!), after I sealed this first. I don’t believe I will add much more shading if any. I will be fixing a few details that I didn’t notice, before taking these photos. Which is why I like taking photos while doing repaints, or just painting a fresh new canvas that isn’t actually a canvas, but a 3D head sculpt. Lol! I don’t usually see every little flaw, then I look at photos at 1000x zoom, and cringe. >_>;;
I wanted the eyes smaller, but I ended up painting them too big, but now I don’t feel like wiping them off and trying again. I can always do that later, when I get bored of how he looks. That’s the good thing of repainting my own toys -- the bad thing is I suck. DX I kind of hate how tiny Ken’s hands are, but I don’t feel like 1:6 male figures would work on the Ken body. I own plenty of spares that I can try, but the wrists look tiny as well.
I am also simultaneously working on my Myou Bettina, but I didn’t take any WIP photos, because of how pale the resin is, everything looks washed out and I just didn’t feel like bothering. I suck at taking photos regardless, these look like crap! I just wanted to share, since I am feeling like it. My lashes are crap, I suck! (:
