People love, love to bring up one-off moments of Yennefer at her worst. Yennefer who is mean, cold, haughty, angry, hurt, jealous, stand-offish.
It’s both funny and sad to me that people forget the rest. Yennefer, who ruins her expensive camlet dress without even realising it to save a woman having a miscarriage on the steps of Kaer Trolde. Yennefer, who gives the nervous young clerk Fabio Sachs the Younger such unexpected high praise that he blushes to the roots of his chestnut hair. Yennefer, who saves Giancardi’s family. Yennefer, who buys back Geralts swords without his knowledge - who has her own banker keep track of where he is looking for work, to make sure the region has a decent “Witcher fund”, even when they’re not together.
Yennefer, who on Skellige, earns the favour of Freyja, the patron goddess of motherhood; receives her grace, her diamond, her Brisingamen, because she is willing to endure more than the limits of human suffering for Ciri.
Yennefer has so many flaws: she’s a deeply broken, traumatised woman who’s prideful and knows how to play the ice queen. But if you don’t realise that Yennefer is also full of love for people around her, hidden kindness and compassion…you might want to read those stories again.

i always giggle when i see geralt drawn or written as kinky or really sexually adventurous because i just think of the
geralt: yennefer can we please just have vanilla sex on a bed, please,
yennefer, wearing her lingerie worth more than some families earn in a lifetime, in her room of unique oddities including what appears to be a preserved troll dick: get on the the unicorn bitch boy

something that really boils my piss is that the Witcher constantly clearly lays out that Witchers are societally ostracised and seen as othered, monstrous, less than human - and then that is disproven again and again
and then in fandom it’s very common to portray them as “idiotic” - not understanding basic human emotions and needing them explained, poorly literate or educated, not able to grasp basic concepts, not knowing about arts or literature outside of their field, etc
like. you missed the point. oh my god. you missed the point and landed 5 miles away. you are literally the medieval peasant in this scenario.

my biologist fact of the day for you is that there are two little tanaids (small sea crustaceans like hoppers or slaters) out there named after Geralt and Yennefer

incredibly under-appreciated Witcher woman? nimue. girl is sitting obsessively up in her tower in the middle of a lake, frantically researching the legend of ciri, collecting the most limited edition fan art, having her boytoy…

one thing that rose from TW3 that fascinates me is the argument that Triss is a better partner because she’s nice, and removing the partner aspect for a minute, i’m always fascinated by the descriptor of Triss as “nice”
maybe it’s just me, but both Book!Triss and Game!Triss could be described in many ways that are both good and bad, but nice isn’t actually one of the ways i would describe her?

one thing i find 50% hilarious 50% sad is that people fight like cats and dogs over ciri and how she’d want to present her aesthetically in the future, what job/role she’d take, her future partners, if she’d ever want children or not, and a lot of the time it devolves into people arguing they understand ciri best
but sometimes it’s radio silence on the important things about her. like…her best friend is Ihuarraquax! her best friend is an actual real live unicorn that she’s frequently seen with and jumps between worlds with!!!! how is this not talked about more!!!

I maintain that Lambert is too smart to ever end up with a child surprise. However if he was drunk, high, concussed and out of his mind enough for it to happen, I feel like no one would find out for years until someone found like. His hidden pile of school reports
Turns out Lambert is like uh yuh you dead beats? I see my kid yearly? Pay my child support? None of you are shit, I’ve been to an absolutely terrible flute recital. Btw my kid is cooler than all of you and can hit rats with knives really well

actually I love Witchers but modern, especially funny if monsters are critical to ecosystems/endangered. you get off trail in a national park and suddenly some weird dude is sprinting towards you like STOP, IN THE NAME OF THE CONSERVATION ACT- and it turns out you’re in the dirt bathing grounds of the winged fucktail or something

Wolf School Mentor: Your name should be pronounceable, not stand out too much, and be respectable so you can represent your trade. Here are some ideas for some acceptable resources to pull from-
Cat School Trainee: I’m Shoebox now.
Cat School Mentor, not even looking up from what they’re doing: That’s nice, you still have to run your laps though.

sometimes I get the vibe that people in the fandom don’t really understand the significance of what happened to Witchers and Witcher Schools
the fall of Kaer Morhen was a pogrom - a large scale violence/destruction, aimed to displace or kill a specific minority group, by the greater collective (this differs from a genocide, which is more systematic and involves more state/government/official involvement)
anti-Witcher rhetoric cumulated into a very specific type of violence; they were specifically trying to wipe out all Witchers in that region, permanently. I think this is really underexplored sometimes in terms of a) long term effects on the survivors and b) the loss Witchers suffered that wasn’t only lives (oral and spoken history, written history, culture, ability to perform traditions, etc)
