Something that sucks about relationships ending is my joy I had for shared media (including songs or shows) can be instead replaced with sadness, regret, or anger....
After my most recent relationship ending, I have been very afraid about loosing my favorite song to those feelings.... at this point I can proudly say I still love this song. I believe this is because all my friends who reached out (including all my Mutuals) and I am incredibly thankful to you all!
I want to share my favorite song with you all and below is my favorite verse:
"Life wouldn't be so hard if we knew hope wasn't far
That there's someone there to catch us when we fall
Well today I'll be the sun I will light up everyone
As your darkness will soon turn into your dawn"
December by National Park Radio 3:13

Jyn's Music Share Saturday #4
Okay I know it hasn't always been Saturday, but imma try to stick to Saturday... this week it's Pure Imagination from the 2023 Movie Wonka since last night I just saw the movie... more below the cut for my analysis and favorite part of the song
As I said above I just watched the movie last night and it was SOOOO AMAZING! I'm going to watch it a few more times (spoiler I saw it again today) and honestly this movie is on the likes of comfort movie material for me but I'll share more about that at a different time... I loved Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka as a kid and felt a sense of Awe at Wonka and his sense of wonder he brought into life! Timothee Chalemet brought that same feeling to Wonka and I'm on love with it! I've been feeling more creative and imaginative recently so this song feels perfect for me to share. It has definitely earned a place in my Top 5 Favorite songs (I'll rate the Top 5 songs a different time).
The quote below from the song just summarises the love I have for recently being able to tap into my creativity and imagination again... I feel free <3
"There is no life i know To compare with pure imagination Living there, you'll be free If you truly wish to be"
Pure Imagination (from "Wonka")

Jyn's Music Share Saturday #6
This week's song is one that I shared with my amazing, sweet, and adorable girlfriend earlier this week. I really love this song, especially the line below, because I do want to always be a part of whatever she does. I really love her and she's the best girlfriend ever! 💜🩷🩵
"Wherever you go
Whatever you start
I'd rather be sure you know I'm there
I'd rather I always be a part of whatever you do"
(I'd Rather Be Me (With You), Steven Universe)

Jyn's Music Share Saturday #5
This week a friend described my music taste exactly "You're very into wordy songs that tell a big story." Thank you my friend - you know who you are :3
The following song definitely fits my music taste! It was difficult to pick just one song from The Narcissist Cookbook but this song has been on repeat recently again but I definitely listen to all the songs they release
Analysis: This song really could be one entire quote that should be posted, but I hope you listen to it and get to experience it for yourself. I cry to this song because I relate to the artist and their struggle with trying to suppress their identity, hurting people around them, and finding out that suppressing our identities does not rid ourselves of them. The same friend from above who described my music taste has also seen me at my recent worst and I am sorry that I made her sad when I was depressively hating on myself. I'm not perfect and I do not yet have love for all parts of myself, which is why I think the following quote is helpful to focus on...
For me if I can love all my friends and family, despite that they are imperfect and we all fail eachother at times, then hopefully I can learn to love the parts of me that aren't perfect
Quote from Song:
"And now I'm eyeing an uncomfortable question
What other parts of me have I been neglecting?
What other scary, strange things are under here?
Because if it's possible to love more than one person
Maybe I can love more than one aspect of me"
(STOPPING A GARDEN HOSE WITH YOUR THUMB, The Narcissist Cookbook)

I though i've shared this song before but it turns out I haven't (or I cannot find it in my tags), but here's one of my top five favorite songs. This song reminds me that its okay to wander and to step outside your comfort zone. [YouTube Link]
"See, I'm trying to find my place
But it might not be here where I feel safe
We all learn to make mistakes"
(Misguided Ghosts, Paramore)

Okay i may be a bit tipsy rn (sobering up) but i wanna keep sharing songs. If i haven't said before i relate to others best in song so here's another song that I love... i met Laser the Boy (one of the duo in The Doubleclicks) back in November in Chicago and i'm glad to have met him.
Here's my favorite part:
"I love my friends, I love them so much more than me
It feels like they all know just who they want to be
And I’ll always feel lucky that anyone talks to me"
Sensitive Badass by The Doubleclicks 1:30

I have decided to continue with generally weekly sharing a song that means something to me and a little analysis (below the cut)... this week is Hercules by Livingston
This song (actually whole album) has been one on repeat for me recently - I actually broke down crying to this song on my drive home this week. Something about the imagery really resonates with me; a Hero (or hero complex for me) struggling with being vulnerable and self-acceptance. I personally am getting some trans vibes in the song, probably since that's the lens I read life through, but the song does evoke some of those feelings in me.
"Now I'm gone
Sold my heart to still not know what I'm worth
New York sees through my facade
She knows that you loved me first
No, I could never pretend
As if I knew where to start"
and
"Give me a chance to bleed
I can't be Hercules"
Hercules by Livingston

23) Last Song You Listed To
Nicotine by Trashbag Ponchos [YouTube]
I've been on a Folk Punk kick recently, and this song has been on repeat a lot! Kinda fits with my recent nicotine addition I'm starting to quit again. The song covers a lot of topics but I relate to the slightly dichotomous feeling of loving someone but also keeping them at arms length.

Another angsty breakup song because fuck it... I'm sure you know the mood if not I'm happy for you and I hope you never feel this way

"Well, baby, I don't mean the things I say or do
When I'm mad at you I'm just trying to figure out
How life goes on without you"

Sometimes sad music feels the best especially when the heart is still broken she promised it would be different and that she wouldn't hurt me like others have... turns out she hurt me more than anyone else has
[YouTube Link]
"She hurt me after she promised me that this time was different
So now my guard's up, I lost my trust, hoping I can fix it
Should've trust my gut, was hurt by love, so that's why I'm defensive
You said you loved me then hurt me, something ain't adding up"
(Why'd You Leave?, Sik World)

I'm proud of you and I know how brave you are! 💜 I love you unconditionally and always will! Even if you are a stranger you are welcome here. Let the following song remind you of that! Here's the YouTube link in case you don't have spotify.
Please know your friends love you and that they don't want to watch you suffer alone! Ask a friend if they have space for you to share your burdens and let them help carry them with you! 🫂
"I don’t think anything differently about you now
Except now I know how brave you are
Except now I know how brave you are"
(How Brave You Are, Junkyard Fort)

Just discovered this song and it really was needed Strangers by Apes of the State [YouTube Link]. Folk Punk music really has me captivated right now, it feels like no other genre speaks to how I feel in life. The quote below really spoke me...
"And I don't give a shit if I'm the last person
On this earth who believes in you
I will show you how beautiful it is to be alive
And I will love you til you love yourself
I'll love you til you love yourself"
(Strangers, Apes of the State)

Jyn Music Share #9
Sharing another song because this breakup suck a lot. Heavy Heart by Done for Good and Poor Man's Poison [YouTube Link]. Recently after the breakup, I had my first experience of having my knees and legs give out on me. I fell in place where my tears hit the ground.
"So with a heavy heart I'll drop
To where my tears have hit the sidewalk
And I'll just lay here for a minute or so
And let the dust settle
And watch the grass grow"
(Heavy Heart, Done for Good and Poor Man's Poison)
