Wooyoung shows off his 'George Clooney' style…
Tumblr media
Wooyoung showed off his 'George Clooney' hairstyle.
On the 8th, KBS2TV's entertainment show 'Hong Kim Dong-jeon' (directed by Park In-seok and Lee Myung-seop) moved to prime time on the weekend and came to viewers with more fun.
Hong Kim Coin is a variety of old concepts of blood, sweat and tears in which fate is changed by coins. Hong Jin-kyung, Kim Sook, Jo Se-ho, Joo Woo-jae, and Woo-young appear and create new fun.
Producer Park In-seok of ‘1 Night 2 Days Season 3’, ‘Sisters’ Slam Dunk 1, 2’ and ‘Gura-cheol’ and writer Choi Eun-young of ‘Battle Trip’ caught the eye with their spirit.
On this day, a coin toss was conducted to revitalize the local commercial district. Members who visit the traditional Jeil Market in Uijeongbu throw a coin and if it comes up heads, it is 'blood circulation' and if it comes up back, it is 'economic circulation'. It is a rule to
First, prior to the full-fledged coin destiny challenge, the members decided to eat food that comes to mind when thinking of 'Uijeongbu'. It was bag stew.
The members spit out exclamations the moment they ate the soup first. He said he shouldn't eat rice and started inhaling budaejjigae with plenty of meat and ham. Hong Jin-kyung, in particular, caught her attention by inhaling Budae-jjigae like someone who had starved for several days.
Kim Sook, Joo Woo-jae, and Woo-young, who entered the jjimjilbang to provide 'blood circulation', smelled the charcoal and toasted with sikhye. Wooyoung failed at the pillow Jenga game and received a penalty at the barber shop in the jjimjilbang. Wooyoung, who had finished styling his hair, led all the members into laughter as soon as he appeared.
Woo-jae Joo gave a thumbs up to Woo-young's hairstyle, which reminded him of George Clooney and Seol Un-do, saying, "It's the best I've ever seen." Even with a 90-degree bow, Wooyoung once again gave a big smile by certifying that his hairstyle was not messed up. From beginning to end, Kim Sook was genuinely envious, saying, “I really covet your hairstyle.”
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's 'Hong Kim Coin' is an old concept variety of blood, sweat and tears in which fate is changed with the coins of Mr. Hong and Mr. Kim.

Based on this excellent post and tags  by @frankdelfino, and thanks to @rain-hat yelling in the chat window for twenty minutes, here’s a not-fic outline in the universe where Jo Yeong and Jo Eun-seop are actually brothers.
So here's how this goes. This is RoK verse, monarchies are passé, thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.
- Jo Yeong and Eun-seop grow up middle class, and look like peas in a pod, have completely opposing personalities and can generally be trusted to get up to the WORST POSSIBLE SHENANIGANS ever known to a pair of long-suffering parents who've had the temerity to have not one, but two sets of twins. Anyways, Eun-seop is absolutely the one GETTING them into the shenanigans, and Yeong is the one getting them OUT of it, despite the fact that Eun-seop is older by 4 minutes
-Eun-seop loses a year at school when he gets into an accident at 14; a drunk driver, a bicycle, and Yeong just a little too far away to do anything but call the ambulance and hold his brother's hand right until they force him to let go as they rush Eun-seop into surgery. He holds it again, once he's wheeled out, and right upto when he wakes up so he doesn't wake up alone (he hasn't gone home in 48hrs, I'm fine, thanks eomma, you should go home to the babies, they'll be scared without you.). Anyways, Eun-seop wakes up, demands to know whether he'll have a cool scar from the surgery (before he demands to know whether he will be able to walk again) and Yeong's like you're never going to be as cool as me, now shut up and sip this water slowly.  Eun-seop recovers, and Yeong's there through every single physio session and taking extra notes in class, and recording videos surreptitiously, so Eun-seop can see how all their classmates are faring and also failing at everything, now that they're in first year of high school. (Yeong would have stayed back a year at school, but Eun-seop forbids it, and uses his Oppa-pass, which he only uses when he's really serious about something, so Yeong has to listen)
- Eun-seop notices that some of his videos begin to feature a rather weird looking dude, who can be seen hanging out with this one girl. Eun-seop knows Tae-eul noona, her dad runs that taekwondo academy two blocks away, right? And there was that one time when Eun-seop was being bullied and Yeong wasn't there that day, and noona had stepped in and scared those assholes away. Anyways, so yeah, he also remembers that there was this other guy with her, who'd also clearly been ready to throw down, if those goobers had put up a fight, but later, he just grabbed noona's hands, checked for injuries, and given Eun-seop some candy that he got out from his bag.
Anyways, so Eun-seop is like why do you have pictures of Tae-eul noona and her weird boyfriend, and Yeong snatches the phone away and mutters, THEY'RE JUST GOOD FRIENDS, in all caps as though he knows anything about life or girls.
Oh my god, Yeongie, he says, you know she's way out of your league right? She's a senior? And like would absolutely beat you to shit, wouldn't need her weirdo bf to do it either-
HE'S NOT HER BOYFRIEND, Yeong says, loudly this time, as loud as the time when Eun-seop had replaced his hair cream with toothpaste and Eun-seop quickly recalibrates and gets it right this time, and he says, hushed,  Yeongie, my Yeongie, did you manage to fall for the one dude who'd give you a run for your money in "the person most likely to end up a serial killer" stakes?
He starts cackling so hard that his ribs start to hurt, and then his back, and Yeong (who's run away – RUN AWAY) doesn't come back to help him up. It's alright, Eun-seop will live, and also, he's gonna help his Yeongie get his guy, even if Eun-seop cannot see the attraction, and he thinks this isn’t going to work for many reasons, only one of which is that CLEARLY this dude- Kang Sin Jae, he remembers now- is in love with Tae-eul noona, which, props, anyone might see she absolutely kicks ass.
But the point is, the Jos are fighters, and he's damned if he's going to let Yeong slink away from this one.
The next time he sees Yeongie- two hours later- they all have a bedtime in the Jo house, ok- he's like, fine, I'm sorry, and I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE A SINGLE USEFUL THOUGHT IN YOUR HEAD, so I got this for you, ok?  What do you know about him?
Turns out, Yeongie has a whole folder on him.
Eun-seop's proud of his little stalker baby brother.
Anyways, that's how Yeong learns enough about sound systems so he can turn up for the post when the school band that Kang Sin Jae plays bass guitar for advertises for a sound engineer.
He turns up for the "interview" in his neat trousers, and button-down shirt and Sin Jae says, uh, are you Jo Eun-seop's non-identical twin? Aren't you just a freshman, do you really- and Yeong says, quietly, confidently, I can solve that problem you're having when you play your arrangement of The Wizard and Sin Jae stares at him and mutters, but can you do anything about how only three people turn up to listen, and Yeong tilts his head, and says maybe? Also, Eun-seop and I are identical, just fyi.
Anyways, yeah he fixes the faulty wiring in the speakers at the auditorium, and also gets more than three people to turn up (so what if it's all a bunch of scared looking freshmen? They've all been paid more than enough to bang their heads in time to the music and cheer later.)
But he never does ask Sin Jae out, that entire year, even though these days, Sin Jae smiles when he sees him, and puts an arm around his shoulder sometimes, after a practice, what are you waiting for, Yeongie, did I raise you to be this much of a coward? Eun-seop wails, but Yeong is like, Sin-Jae-ssi would feel awkward at having to refuse me if I did, and he needs a sound engineer more than a boyfriend, and that's fine.
(He needs at least three shirts more, a hair-cut and perhaps better taste in music, Eun-seop thinks, but doesn't say, because he knows Yeongie's fragile like that. Yeongie can take anything anybody says about him, personally, and will brush it off or dole out appropriate punishment, but if someone comes after someone he loves, he'll break the knees of the person and leave them for dead in a ditch. And obviously, he can't do that with Eun-seop, so Eun-seop doesn't say anything, he's a good elder brother.)
- Sin-jae and Tae-eul noona graduate and both of them go off to KNPU, and Eun-seop says, listen, nobody does that if they're not dating, at least. IF NOT ACTUALLY ILLEGALLY MARRIED. Yeongie, please, for the love of god, find a boy who's available. See, here's a list.
But Yeong just shrugs, and says, let me see your homework (because Eun-seop's back in school now) and then proceeds to put red slashes through everything and says, "apply your brains Eun-seop, don't act dumb when you're not". THE AUDACITY.
Yeong never dates anyone through high school, Eun-seop dates a different person every month.
- So Eun-seop is never going to have to serve in active military duty, because of his accident, but Yeong will have to. He's fine with that, and he'd rather do it in these two years, just after school, because that way, it's only really one year when Eun-seop will be at college before him, and that's fair, it evens out Yeong's having to graduate from school first.
-So off he goes, and there he meets Lee Ji-hun, who's an ass, Eun-seop clocks that straight away, born into some goddamn chaeobol family, but for some reason drawn to actual military service, because he has a hero complex. The only good thing he has going for him, as far as Eun-seop can tell, his that he took one look at Yeongie and decided that he was the best boy in the whole universe, and that shows good taste, Eun-seop will be polite to him, fine.
- Of course, the other thing that happens in those two years is that Yeongie gets brainwashed into joining the Navy- it's not brainwashing, Yeong tries to tell him, I get to protect the people I love, the country I love. And of course, Lee Ji-hun, fucking asshole, is just sitting there, nodding along as though any of this was fucking REASONABLE. You could DIE, Eun-seop yells, DO YOU REALIZE THAT. WE'RE STILL AT FUCKING WAR.
Yes, says his stepford-wife brother, womb-sharer, soulmate, exactly.
- Anyways, off Yeong and Jihun go to join not just the Navy, which would be bad enough, but the ROKSWF, that's insane, they're going to die, and what can Eun-seop do then but go join the NIS and immediately get picked for North Korean Affairs by an astute senior officer who listens to Eun-seop goofing around in the canteen on the orientation day and still get everyone to give him their portion of the only decent thing on the menu- the crème brulee- and says, I'm taking that one.
- It's a lot of paperwork and dull as ditches monitoring work at the start, and that's ok, Eun-seop can live with that, it means he gets time with the other twins, who are at a fun age. And that's how Tae-eul noona and Kang Sin Jae re-enter their lives because Eun-bi and Kka-bi are learning taekwondo from Tae-eul's dad. This is also how Eun-seop meets the love of his life and future wife Myeong Na-Ri, and it's ok if she doesn't know it yet, at least Yeongie is not here to see him turn into a complete doofus everytime Na-Ri so much as breathes in his direction.
- Yeongie and Jihun come back on shore leave (AFTER TWO GODDAMN YEARS) and that's when Ji-hun meets Tae-eul and falls like a ton of bricks for her; she manages to keep her sense of balance and also life in order, thanks, she's not going to fall for some floppy haired dude (his hair grows really fast out of its crew cut) who thinks that parallel universes are a thing, even if he has extremely long legs.
Meanwhile Kang Sin Jae has also cleaned up nice, Eun-seop will admit, and he's-he's a genuinely nice dude, ok, even if a bit brusque, and when Eun-seop finds out about eomeonim's gambling problems and that whole story, he's willing to admit that he may have been a tad harsh on Kang Sin-Jae way back when.
Anyways, that's the past, right, Yeongie, I can't imagine what a bunch of men locked in a submarine can possibly do except have orgies, please tell me that's what you've been doing? Please?
"Shut up" hisses Yeong, and then practically jumps out of his chair when Tae-eul noona and Sin Jae come over to their table at Na-ri's coffee shop. Yeong's in his uniform- he was on his way back from some conference thing he'd had to go to despite his leave- so that was the saving grace, because Eun-seop sees the subtle double-take Kang Sin Jae does,  because let's face it, his baby brother is the most beautiful, it's true, but then Yeongie is also red in the face and says "toffee" instead of "coffee" as in "Won't you get some toffee, Sin Jae-ssi?" and Sin Jae gives him a blank look while he decodes that, (gay panic, Eun-seop wants to tell him, my brother is a panicked gay, go easy on him), and finally says, uh, I don't think they have that flavor here?
- God, Eun-seop says later, I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU, BABY BROTHER. HAVE YOU BEEN IN LOVE WITH THE SAME BOY FROM HIGH SCHOOL? ARE YOU STILL A VIRGIN? (AFFIRMATIVE ON BOTH) and Eun-Seop has FAILED, FAILED, FAILED. Alright, he says, taking a deep breath, how long do you have?
Two weeks, says his stupid fucking brother, and so Eun-seop has to go into EMERGENCY-FUCKING-MODE because he may have to DIE getting it to happen, but his baby brother is GOING TO GET LAID, AND BY THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE, EVERYONE'S FIRST TIME NEEDS TO BE SPECIAL OK, Ji-hun? Ji-hun nods, very seriously, and proceeds to describe his extremely un-special first time, and Eun-seop is like, wow, you probably don't know this, because you've got that puppy face that make people not want to hurt you, but every single woman you've ever slept with has faked an orgasm with you. Well, that discussion gets pretty heated, of course, and also comes to an abrupt end when Tae-eul noona pops in- she's come by to ask if they all wanna hang out and watch a movie this weekend- and look, noona's GREAT, and obviously the first person he needs on his ally list as soon as he makes sure she's not really in love with Sin Jae, because that would be bad.
"Hyungnim?" she says, surprised, when he asks, because Eun-seop knows the best way to get noona to answer anything is to play no games, and she says, "No, why?" and then, suspiciously, "Did that rat Jihun put you up to this?" And he says, absent mindedly, no I was asking 'cause Yeong, and noona yelps, "Jo Yeong can't be in love with me, shit!" and Eun-seop says, what, why, and that's how he finds out that hey, Kang Sin Jae may also have been a little into his idiot brother from way back when. "He was too young" Tae-eul noon confides, "Sin Jae didn't feel right about it, especially when he was graduating that year" and honestly, THIS IS THE SADDEST STORY EUN-SEOP HAS EVER HEARD AND HE'S WATCHED TITANIC FORTY TIMES AND CRIED EACH TIME OK?
- RIGHT. So maybe Eun-Seop and Tae-eul manage to get their idiot friend and brother a little push in the right direction. Well, noona basically goes to Sin Jae and says, for fucks sake, ask the poor boy out, I heard he's still a virgin for you.  And Sin Jae goes red in the face, and then green, because omg the PRESSURE, and then red again, and then ultimately does find Yeong one day at the coffee shop alone, as Eun-seop had assured him he would be - (Diligently reading some book? A recipe book? Italian recipes? Sin Jae may have mentioned one day that his favourite cuisine was Italian?)- and there's some part of him that melts, like the cheese on the cover of that recipe book, and he's like, uh, do you, maybe, and then rushed, I know this great Italian place, if you like, and yes, Jo Yeong would like very much.
- Jo Yeong returns to Jinhae Naval Command very much not a virgin, and Jihun returns still single, but undaunted by the task ahead of him; don't worry, Yeong-ah, he says, confidently, I'll wear her down, even if it takes me years, and Yeong knows Jihun, he knows how much of a barnacle he can be, and also it wouldn't be nice of him to shit on other people's happiness just when he's found his own, so he nods and says, yes, of course, and even listens to Jihun rhapsodize about Tae-eul noona's everything for about two hours straight. He texts Eun-seop at the half-way mark- kill me now, please-and Eun-seop is like, what's North Korea there for, then, I told you to dump his ass in the sea. But of course he won't, Jihun and he are ride or die, and it turns out dying is more likely in this case, because right about that time is when North Korea decides that it needs to remind the world that yes, they exist, and yes, the men that rule them are crazy fucks.
- What happens is this: Koo Seo-Ryeong is a brilliant pianist, who's one of the few DPRK citizens who's let out to see the world has disappeared with her mother and sister, while she was on tour in Australia. And look, she did it in Australia, it has nothing to do with RoK, except that Kim Jong-un has decided that it has, because her (estranged) father happened to be one of the top honchos in  DPRK military brass, and this was all clearly a conspiracy hatched across the border to get at him and the military secrets he knows.
- Eun-seop is there when the news comes in that there's a Sang-o class submarine in the waters at Jeongdongjin, and he's also there when it turns out, that yes, hello, they were trying to get the Koo family out, and he's also the one that gets a single line text from an unknown number that's the code he made Yeongie swear on everything they held dear that he would send if he was going behind enemy lines. Shit. Shit.Shit.
- OK, I confess, I don't know how this next part goes, reader, because I am not John Le Carre or whoever, and this is still NOT-FIC,  BUT SPY THINGS HAPPEN and at the end of the day, Eun-Seop has to choose between saving his brother and letting the Koo family back into the hellhole they'd just managed to extract themselves from, and listen, noona made him listen to Koo Seo-Ryeong's playing ok, and there's- even if she were a shitty musician, even if she were just some rat bastard politician or a fisherwoman- he knows he can't make a choice that is sending her back to her death, and the deaths of everyone she loves. And if he did, and if he did, just to save his womb-brother, his true love, his soulmate, his blood and bone and heart- why, he knows that Yeong would never forgive him, Oppa-pass or no. So he's gotta rescue Yeongie and save the Koo family AND STOP WORLD WAR THREE, good thing he's totally up to the task.
- MORE SPY THINGS HAPPEN AND HE SAVES THE DAY, OK.
- He does, and so this time he gets to be the rescuer, and honestly, this was a big one, and it totally evens out all the 15 million times in their entire lives that Yeong had rescued him, what does Yeongie think? Yeongie thinks he should shut up and let him sleep, and because he's a good oppa, the best oppa, Eun-seop curls around his baby brother in their too narrow bunk bed, just like they did when they were sixteen or ten or five or in the womb, and goes to sleep too.

The King: Eternal Monarch - Episode 2
Tumblr media
So Lee Gon found out the girl that saved him 25 years ago and hugs her. She pushes him away and she’s like what the hell do you think you’re doing? And he’s like, I am greeting you, because I am happy to see you. That she really existed. In another universe. She asks again for his ID and he says he can’t give it to her because he doesn’t have one, because he is who he is.  Ah, this makes me so disappointed. Those lines are so much like the lines his character in Heirs would say. I wished for something new. I guess they know he sells well in these kind of roles so they made it like this for him =|
Okay se he tells her he’s the king of Corea (why not Korea?) anyways and he got here while following a suspicious person and if at first he was confused, now he came to realization this a parallel universe. And seeing the ads screen, that they have a queen named Yuna haha. Lol, she’s just some idol. He tells her to take him to her queen Yuna and she’s like just go get a ticket. She’s like enough with that crap and arrests him.
Jo young tries to find out how did his king disappeared.
Back at the police station, Jo Young of the parallel universe comes out and Lee Gon tries to talk to him but he’s like this guy is kind of scary. Then seeing how much o a fool he is, he’s like that’s not Yeong. The fingerprints didn’t come out with his identity either. Tae-eul is pissed of. The other girl suggests that he might be a child loss before his finger prints were taken. He tries again to convince her about the parallel universe but she’s not so much. She wants proof. He explains to her Einstein quantum something, it makes me dizzy those theories plus the screen was spinning a little. Anyways, she manages to get her saliva for his DNA while he was speaking.
Well she ends up releasing him and ask him how to contact him when the DNA results are in and he gives her the address of a very expensive hotel. She asks him if he even have any money to pay for that and he just takes off a button of his vest and says it’s a diamond, so when he sells this, he’ll have money. She doesn’t believe him, but getting in a jewelry shop, she has to be proven wrong. She sends him off, but... already the romance, I can feel it... hahaha. Lee Minho cannot not sway girls. He asks her to stay and not leave him lol. But she’s like piss off hahaha. I love her <3She leaves after receive a phone call.
Lol, the guy watching netflix. He gets called by Lee Gon. And used as a valet. But it’s okay, he gives him half of the stuff. I must say the acting for this guy is on point. Two different characters, like opposite. When he sees a family picture, he’s convinced it’s a parallel universe again.
When she comes back home, Maximus (Lee Gon’s horse) is in her yard, so she goes to the hotel to discuss this with him. Well not really a discussion, it’s more like, stay put or I am selling your horse.
Okay so the uncle did kill the little boy this time around.
Mister king is at the library studying history and has gained a huge fan club. Lots of girl gave him beverages haha. They all get jealous when Tae-eul sits down with him. And he finally realized that they don’t have a queen in this world, but a president.  Anyways she leaves and he follows her... TO A FRIED CHICKEN RESTAURANT. fml. Seriously. Now I want to eat fried chicken but I can’t. One because of self-isolation and all the korean restaurants are in town, too far away for deliveries. And two, because I don’t eat meat unless I am at my parent’s place or if I go out with friends. But that fried chicken looks so good TT any vegetarian knows of korean fried chicken recipe that doesn’t involved replacing the chicken with mushrooms? Because I juste really can’t stand mushrooms... So back to the story... Usually, Eun-sop tastes his food for him, well he starts eating first. She’s like, I’m not tasting your food. He says I know, but here are my last words if ever this is poisoned: thank you for everything, I was less lonely those 25 years knowing that you existed somewhere. Can they make his characters a little less cheesy someday? =| Omg. Lee Gon discovering fried chicken is exactly me the first time I had it hahaha. Love it. He asks her why she never believes anything he says, and it’s because he spouts too much nonsense.
Jo Yeong is still looking for the prince. He asks a girl that was there a the competition for the pictures she took, but she’s like his fangirl, she almost only has pictures of him haha. I don’t see how that could be of any use but oh well!
Lee Gon is out of diamonds on his clothes to make money. Woops! And there’s is product placement haha. He goes to the Alley. I love that place’s milk tea. Now I want milk tea so bad haha. This drama is good to bring up my foodie desires when nothing is available. I DO NOT THANK YOU LEE MINHO.
But why is he jelly of that guy though? Seems she met him way back in the past. He wants to go with her, but she says he can’t. Then somehow she goes back and tells him to go back to his family because he’s annoying. Then he tells her he’s not married hahaha. Like, that’s totally what she asked. And he’s like, okay I’m taking you as my wife, to be the queen. Lol. Hahaha. Ah, Lee Minho, Lee Minho. I guess you always ends up having these kind of lines. Poor baby. She’s thinking he’s crazy. And now I wonder will all episodes end with them facing each other like that? Maybe that could be some kind of trademark.
So now, let’s see what the preview are going to tell us and let’s try to guess what’s going to happen. Even though I shouldn’t do that, because previews are always a bad idea when you have to wait for the next episode. Oh well, previews actually didn’t say much, there’s nothing really to guess. Except that she dislikes him, but not truly because they will obviously fall in love at some point. And that’s it until next episode comes out.

Just finished the kdrama:" The King: Eternal Monarch" and it was honestly.....awesome.
Like, the plot was amazing, the casting as well ( Lee Min Ho, Wo Do Hwan AND Kim Go Eun, could we have hoped for more???)
The acting was great, the romance was natural (kind of, but I liked the evolution of their relationship once they got together) and the leads had a lot of chemistry. The villains were also great, especially Lee Lim.
I loved the relationships between the side characters as well ( Jo Eun Supp and Jo Yeong, Jo Eun Supp and Na-Ri, Kang Shin Jae and his mother,....)
It kept me on my toes until the very end.
I often felt confused but in the end everything came back together and made sense. Amazing.
Of course there were flaws and maybe when I will rewatch it I will see more flaws and plot holes that I may have missed( and maybe I'll do a post about it).
I also wish there could have been more scenes between Na-Ri and Eun Supp once they got together or between Jo Yeong and Seung-A.
But overall it was great!
Honestly I do not think I am exaggerating when I say that it is the best drama I've ever seen in my life. And if you disagree with me please give me a better one, and I am not saying this sarcastically, I'm genuinely asking because this is just my opinion.
Anyways, 10/10 would recommend.

We never got a Yeong and Eun sop reunion and the fact that only one remembers is sad. But I guess when Eun sop said that his 65th dream was to meet him, Yeong knew that he absolutely meant it... and that is enough for him. 😭
I’m not crying, you are.

Ya realized that Lee Gon again gave Tae Eul flowers and again said the exact same lines, "I realized I haven't told you this... I love you."
So it really proved that the first time he did it, it wasn't the present him (I mean we all know) but gosh, that shit broke my heart.

The King Eternal monarch - Episode 4

** Actually this review has been written for already about a month or so, but I never got to type it.  Back then, I thought I was still on schedule, but I was actually something like one episode late.  Please bear with me! (:
I was in a pretty bad mood yesterday night, which was when I was planning on watching this, but I figured out I could actually watch it this morning instead, so I wouldn’t spoil all the fun by a foul mood.
So this episodes starts yet again on another time freeze, which is noticed by the most lovely uncle Lee Rim.  Then again, we gat product placement with the Alley (can they stop making me want stuff that I can’t have with this drama?  I love the Alley and the milk tea there).  Anyways, Eun seop takes his tea, but it’s oddly hot and right at the same time seems like Jo Yeong takes a hot cup, which he dropped too.  And the king is back.
Tae Eul is still trying to figure out her murder case and has a flashback of Lee Gon asking her why she chose to become a detective.  I am actually really curious about her motivations and to know a bit more about her past. So far we only have seen that she lived with her father who runs a taekwondo dojo. Nothing much about her mom.  She used to watch a show named the police with her dad when she was young. Okay.  Nothing very extraordinary.  I like that.
The Prime Minister barges in the the Palace again which makes our sassy madam Noh unhappy.  She tells her that it was agreed that no one would come to the palace unless there is a national emergency and miss prez says the king disappearing is an emergency. Madam Noh says he stayed in his study all day long and went early to bed, so Prime Minister Koo says she should have gone to his bedroom then, which makes my poor Madam Noh angry.  She tries to stop her from getting in the King’s study, but the Prime Minister pushes her away... like how rude is she? Wow. Well at least Lee Gon is inside and not very happy that she went against “his” orders and came anyways. She says he’s rather tanned for someone who stayed in his study and that she came only to check if he was missing. She says that he’s indebted to her now. But he tells her he will never be. I don’t really understand the threat he makes to her, but she doesn’t look as arrogant after that. I so do not like her.
As soon as Prime minister Koo comes out, Lady Noh rushes in and scolds Lee Gon for leaving and make her worry, she’s also in shock when she notices the buttons on his vest are all gone, they were really expensive.
One of Lee Gon’s military superior passed away while he was away, so it’s a relief he came back in time. He’s invited to go and see the army. As soon as he can, he gets rid of his necktie. Still the trauma of when Lee Rim almost killed him.
Tae Eul convinces her boss to wait two weeks before convincting the suspect of the murder. He agrees and sends them to investigate on a robery. When they arrest the thief, she sees Shin Jae talk with a girl and she gets curious, but he won’t tell her about her and then he asks her if the horse dude left her place and she says he went back home yes.
Prime minister Koo gets personally attacked by one of her congressman so she unveals a scandal about him to get revenge and then go meet with Prince Buyeon. I feel like she’s threatening him, but I don’t really get what’s the point of doing that for her.
Lee Gon goes to visit his uncle. So basically all of Buyeon’s family has to live abroad because Lee Rim killed the previous king.  Lee Gon asks him if he’s not resentful that he can’t live with his family because of him. He then asks him if he’s on his side or not. He asks the king what rumours made him doubt about him, but Lee Gon says it’s not rumours and that it doesn’t answer his question. He trusts him, and says that they should be honest with each other. Then he leaves an envelop with a problem he couldn’t solve inside: the autopsy of Lee Rim.
Tae Eul is reading on parallel universes at the library while Lee Gon went to the library in Kingdom of Corea too and thinks of her.
Shin Jae’s mom comes back home with a purse full of cash. He’s very upset. He calls Jangmi and they go with his mom to the gambling house. She’s definitely not happy with it, Shin Jae tells Jangmi to take portraits of everyone in there. I am not so convinced about how efficient his method is: he shows his police badge so they all cover their faces. Shinjae is now going to lose his job. He reported the gambling and tells the policeman to arrest everyone. Including his mom. Poor Shin Jae. It must be so hard for him... I know my second lead syndrome is going to crush me again. Ugh.
A kid bumps into Tae Eul and makes her her lose her ID card in the water street drain. Right then she has a call from the girl she’s working with. The money is real. The one she took from Lee Gon, that is. It’s a real bank note.
Lee Rim finds a note saying the king has returned to the palace. So he knows he went to the other universe. I wonder who is the mole in the palace.
Tae Eul goes to the bamboo forest looking for Lee Gon, but obviously, he’s not there.
Je Yeong comes to get Lee Gon because Lady Noh thinks he left again and then again with the time freeze. Ugh. And numbers. I have no idea what he’s counting about, but yikes. I hate maths. He tells Jo Yeong he went to a parallel universe, but he’s not taken seriously. Obviously.
Tae Eul asks to reissue her car, it won’t have to wait until November 11. She goes back to the parck and wonder what nice view he saw. Haha. You, of course, Darling.
There’s a lady woking for Lee gon and she’s just plainly thinking that he’s in love with Jo Yeong.  Hahaha, in no ways. There’s a storm again and his shoulder is acting up and he wants only Jo Yeong to check on it, no need to tell Lady Noh. He shows his shoulder to Je Yeong and he goes to fetch the doctor. Then, he uses this opportunity to leave since otherwise, he’s always under surveillance.
tae Eul finally gets her Id back... issued on 11-11-2019, just like Lee gon said it was going to be. She then receives a phone call from him. She’s troubled and leaves work, leaving Shinjae and Jangmi very surprised. HeMs really waiting for her. He paid back his debts and wanted to see her, but he has to go back because he sneaked out. She asks him how she looks on the picture for her ID. He says he’ll take her with him to see his universe if she wants. Seems like she agrees. Awww, a ride together on Maximus. How cute when he pulls her on top of the horse.
And they do really get to his world and she’s SHOOKED.
I don’t clearly remember my impressions on the ending of this episode, but I felt it was a little weirdish, I don’t how to describe this.  But yeah. Not sure I like it, but oh well.

The King: Eternal Monarch
Tumblr media
Lee Min-ho as Lee Gon Kim Go Eun as Jeong Tae-eul /  Luna Woo Do-Hwan as Jo Eun-seop / Jo Yeong Kim Kyung-nam as Kang Shin-Jae Jung Eun-Chae as Goo Se-ryeong Kim Yong-ji as Myeong Na-ri Lee Jung Jin as Lee Rim Kim Young-ok as Noh Ok-Nam Lee Hong-nae as Seok Ho-pil Kang Hong-seok as Jangmi
The King: Eternal Monarch is a story about a parallel world. Set in both Republic of Korea and Kingdom of Corea. Kingdom of Corea is like the alternative timeline where Korea is never successfully conquered by Japan and the country was never separated into two. The story starts on a flashback from the night of the treason in 1994. The traitor Lee Lim wants to obtain the magic flute named Manpasikjeok so he organized a coup. For him, the manpasikjeok and the throne was rightfully his. Him and his followers successfully killed the current king. Lee Lim gets to hold the flute but it was cut into two by the crowned prince Lee Gon. Lim was about to kill Lee Gon when he was stopped by a mysterious man dressed in black. The mysterious man successfully saved Lee Gon but he left an ID card. Lee Lim was declared dead in the Kingdom of Corea but he found a way to the Republic of Korea. He killed his other self and his other self's family. He hides on the other world while gaining his followers. Years later, they showed a playful but smart king in his thirties. Lee Gon grew up well with his uncle and court lady Noh on his side. Plus, he's well protected by his unbreakable sword aka Jo Yeong. Gon's motivation is Lt. Jeong Tae-eul id card. Court Lady Noh wants him to marry or find a girl already that's why she's setting up a talisman's card in his room. True enough he found a girl, on the other world. Thank God that Lee Gon is smart enough that he figured it out that he's in the other world but poor him because no one is believing him there.
This show is complex from start to end. I really like the idea of parallel universe and what ifs. They set the parallel world thinking what if their country is never conquered at all. But I must admit that this drama is not for everyone. The pacing is slow and some concepts are hard to comprehend. Nevertheless, I still love it. Tho, I didn't like the product placement. They are not subtle on showing it on the camera. Furtheremore, some cgi/green screen is not made well but it is  kinda understandable. For me, they build up the story quite right. The plot twist is properly showed on the right time plus I really like how they hang the ending in every episode. Then, they will show it on different shots on the next episode. I also love how they differentiate the two person with safe faces. They emphasize that even though you have the same face, you will never be the same person. They have their own personalities and not just a copy of their other self. They also showed the differences in lives of the characters between the two worlds. Like the other one is having a good family and the other one is none at all. Or like Lee Gon is rich and king and close to his father but his other self is not. Lee Ji Hun is close to his uncle and poor. But still, they will both have the similarities aside from their faces as they both ended up in the military. Like Jeong Tae-eul and Luna both ended up becoming a cop.

One of the highlight of this drama is Woo Do Hwan. He perfectly portrayed Jo Yeong and Jo Eunseup. Like he can differentiate both. Yeong is stoic but he you can see that he really cares then there's the comedic Eun Seup. I admit he have a chemistry with himself. Jo Yeong and Jo Eun seup is the example of the parallel characters that can be friends (somehow they even consider theirselves as brothers) and having no intention to kill one another. Woo Do Hwan nailed his acting in this drama.
Jo Yeong as Jo Eun Seup:
-There's an episode when Lee Gon wants to eat but instead they encountered a group of gangsters. Jo Yeong came to the rescue but Jo Eun Seup's seniors saw him. He immediately copied Eun Seup's accent but not to the extend of being Eun Seup. Like you can really tell that it is still Jo Yeong.  Plus, his chemistry with the twins. He grew fond of them.

Jo Eun Seup as Jo Yeong:
-Woo Do Hwan nailed Jo Yeong serious self (like he's fine af with that hair and suit). But when he was Jo Eun Seup acting as Jo Yeong, everything he did was comedic. Like when he tried to pull out his gun or when his saying "Yes, your majesty" acting serious but not to the point of being Yeong. Like he's being Eun Seup in Yeong's clothes.

Both of them become Lee Gon's unbreakble sword. Both loyal and both willing to sacrifice their lives.

One of my fave scene is when he announced that Tae-eul will be the queen and they need to protect her!

The ending for me is perfect. The second lead man ended up (in terms of pairing) with the female lead's other self. I think they kinda hint it when Luna kissed Shin-Jae. Plus Luna is adopted by Goo Seryeong's mom and she did have her own name this time(Koo Seo-gyeong). Seryeong's in jail for all the bad deeds she did. Lee Ji Hun is alive and became part of the navy. The real Shin Jae grew up well and became a ceo(?) while Eun Seup marries Nari. Jeong Tae-Eul cannot be the queen because Luna is still existing in Kingdom of Corea. But I think she will still marry Gon and have that weekend trips with him. Gon will not worry about a successor because his cousin (the good one) will be the next in line. Also, eventhough only three of them knows what happened (Yeong, Gon and Tae-eul) it was still ok. It was actually a fine ending for me. I really enjoyed it but again, its not that type of drama that everyone will like. It really depends on the viewer and its fine if you didn't like it. And this show is not as bad as the others says. Because in 2020, I read a lot of bad reviews about this drama so I have zero hope when I started this out. But it turns out fine. Not the best but not THAT bad.
