Fun Fact
BuzzFeed published a report claiming that Tumblr was utilized as a distribution channel for Russian agents to influence American voting habits during the 2016 presidential election in Feb 2018.
On July 2, 2017, Berit and Ian went to see a matinee of our friend Tom X. Chao's play Hot for Feminist Theory Professor at The Brick in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and over a long, tipsy lunch afterwards nearby at Northern Bell (and somewhat inspired by a TV sportscaster's pronunciation of then-New York Met Aaron Altherr), pretty much riffed the entire concept, characters, and multi-season arc of our SF audio sitcom in two hours. In the middle of our impromptu "writing session" (more B&I just trying to crack each other up), Tom took this picture of us, which I'm really glad to have:
And this picture is from two years later, also July 2, as Berit, Anna Stefanic, and I jammed into a tiny rehearsal room at Ripley-Greer on 8th Avenue to record keyboard tracks for some of the songs in the first six episodes -- Anna also recorded her Althaar theme song & interstitial music that same day on a janky old upright piano in another room, and Anna, Berit, and Lex Friedman also recorded the immortal a cappella "WSS Jingle." We had to get music tracks for that many episodes recorded right away, as Anna (the serious, talented musician of the company) was going off to act in Once and some other shows in Florida for several months. When she came back, she joined the show again as "Stella," then an unnamed, not-significant character who wound up becoming a lot more important than originally intended.
Life With Althaar will return (and finish) this year.
We now have specific dates in mind for the final eight episodes, and will share them when we're 100% SURE we can make them. But the company and writers are reassembling and standing by...
Thanks for your patience and attention; it is a pleasure working for you.
LL Cool J transcended hip-hop to become one of the most versatile performers in entertainment.
(LL Cool J)
The entertainment juggernaut born James Todd Smith (in 1968, New York) rose to prominence with his 1985 debut album, "Radio," the first album released by Def Jam Records and one of the first rap albums to achieve popular acclaim.
He followed "Radio" with “Bigger and Deffer,” one of the best-selling albums of his career, which notably produced the first popular rap ballad, “I Need Love.”
His prominence in rap continued through the middle 1990s, with a string of hit albums that followed, including “Walking Like a Panther,” “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “14 Shots to the Dome,” and “Mr. Smith.”
LL Cool J branched out to acting, establishing himself in films like “Deep Blue Sea” and “Any Given Sunday,” and notably in television on “NCIS: Los Angeles.”
He became the first rapper honored at The Kennedy Center in 2017, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
This is a ranking of LL Cool J’s most memorable singles:
