its actually really fun seeing people over on the hermitcraft reddit discover for the first time just how amazing joel is at pvp.
to all the new joel fans who don't know the lore, he used to be pretty bad at it like two to three years ago. and then - just out of spite, mind you, for the mcc reddit predicting him super low - he grinded on hypixel and mcc island for hours at a time. like you could go on there at any time and there would be a 90 percent chance he would be online.
eventually he cemented his training arc by getting a first individual in mcc scuffed after getting nine kills in skyblockle - no easy feat as the record is eight kills and usually people get like 4 or 5 on a good day. (unfortunately his isn't considered a record as it was in a noncanon mcc)
when gem, etho and cleo say that he's good, you know he's good lol

Joel doing Joel things that Joel does.
A list of Joel doing Joel things that Joel does.
Not being affected by The Lore™
Insulting his audience within the first minute of the video
Insulting editor Joel
Going overboard with explosives
Hinting at making a cult apparently
Hating interiors
Being sus with men (its etho again)
Now a list of things Joel should bring back maybe.
Writing random words in sand while collecting it (he did this is Esmp s1)
Kill horses (just so Bdubs gets upset lol)
Jeremyism???? Please??? Could that be the cult?????
Thank you for listening to my ted talk
Edit; Joel kiss horses and he has murder mystery intros about it and he wrote something the the sand once. Still waiting for confirmed jeremyism tho..

I have spotted a wild and socially awkward joel on scars stream today (11 feb) around 1hour 25 ish.
Ty for all the Joel services. Your contributions to the cult… sorry, I meant religion….of jeremyism will be rewarded by the great jeremy.
yours truly once again,
A humble and incredibly tall follower of jeremyism and a veteran shadowcadet
Joel learns about life with Scar
Thank you! The text-to-voice stories about medical issues and serious topics just make the whole thing so much more surreal.
youtube
Scar's ability to just pretend the world is exactly what he wants it to be is amazing. I wish I knew what percent of him thought that was an interesting story.
Tumblr media
And then X just coming in and saying something vaguely relevant without acknowledging the conversational crimes that had been inflicted on Joel. Love it. Hermitcraft s10 <3 <3 <3
source: Scar's February 11th stream
Edit: Some timestamps

[Not an idea, more on info from a past smp!]
X-life is one of the servers apart of scott's "Life series" (One life, X-life, afterlife, etc.), wherein each player starts with one heart and gains a heart everytime they die. If they die while having all 10 hearts, you'd be out of the series. X-life is a personal favorite of mine tbh.
A major point in the smp was the start of a religion over a donkey. Lore-wise "the one true jeremy" tasked Joel in starting the Church of Jeremy. Based on the infro from the X Life wiki, ""the one true jeremy" appreciates when other animals are named after him. He promises longer lives and rumor has it that there is another life after our 10th. The Jeremy life where we live on through the body of Donkey Jeremy." Hence the name "Jeremyism", based on the donkey's name. A lot of people called it a cult, the members deny it being one. One major "plot-line" is that Lizzie, a member of The Coven and a former enemy to Jeremyism, was the original founder (yeah I aint explaining that lmao).
Another thing about Jeremyism is "The Book of Jeremy", which pretty much were basic rules the members of Jeremyism had to follow (No I'm not going into details there). One of the rules back then went along the lines of "Scott was not allowed." (Which probably was the oldest occurance of scott constantly being against joel)
The major twist is that later in the series, joel creates a Death House, with the prize for clearing it is becoming the new leader of Jeremyism (spoilers: Scott cleared it at half a heart)
With Scott now being the leader of Jeremyism, he planned a "smooth takeover" and changed a few rules of the Book of Jeremy. Later on he finds out about secret lairs of the Jeremyism members and a goal to take down Scott in which he made the decision to take down Jeremyism, even if he goes down with it.
Jack, one of the members of the smp who named himself Jeremy, had lost his last life and wrote down a will (which both callum and scott had to follow because it said so) and wrote down how he should have a funeral held for him. Scott took this as an opportunity to destroy the church and everyone in it. With some slight modifications, a rigged TNT trap, some lava and some wither potions, he was able to kill everyone attending the funeral. Including himself. (Recommend watching it, it looked pretty cool) and casually said that Jeremyism is over and just went over the rest of Jack's will.
[TLDR: Joel gets contacted by a donkey, starts a cult relegion named jeremyism, writes a book about the rules, makes a rule about scott not being allowed near jeremyism, scott didnt like that, coven was formed and was "declared" as an enemy to jeremyism, the coven made peace with them, apparently lizzie is the original founder idk how, joel built a death house and promised whoever wins becomes the leader of jeremyism, scott wins and makes slight changes to jeremyism, the members didn't like that and planned to overthrow him, Jack (one of the memebers) died, Scott and Callum were asked to fufill his will and a funeral was held for him. Before that tho, scott rigged the church with lava, tnt, and potions and basically killed everyone inside the church, with some dying twice. Scott declares that jeremyism is no more and the server moves on until the inevitable end of X Life.]
-✨️ anon (haha guess who i mainly watch)
Just- *pushes this across the table for newer folks*
I will say though that half of the coven literally could not care less about Jermemyism, you have no idea how funny it was to be a Gem viewer watching this all unfold. The episodes were like, "guys guys cmon look at my pretty plants!!!" *watches silently as Joey and Joel argue about shadows* "hiii Blue 💞" "GEM COME WITH US JEREMYISM HAS SENT SPIES" Katherine: I was just trying to read ;-;
Comedy gold, honestly

Okay, time for a shower thought timeline!
Tumblr media
THE SMP TIMELINES
Titans, beings composed of stone and imbued with magic perish, their remains forming the land masses where the SMPs take place.
Gods arise from the primordial magic blood that pooled when the Titans died, including Aeor and Exor, when the blood came into contact with snow and ice and a mysterious fungi respectively, as well as the primordial ocean being after coming into contact with the vast oceans.
The Gods either died out, went into a deep slumber, was worshipped greatly, or fought each other and created champions, with the exception of the ancient sea dweller which laid eggs and went out to go grab some milk or whatever.
X Life occurs, along with a surge in Jeremyism worship, a god of insanity but after the people and players died out, they fell into obscurity, with only a few worshippers here and there and not much scripture to go off of.
The Gnomes of Gnomeland were almost completely wiped out by a champion of Exor with the exception of a farmer’s daughter.
A gathering of promising individuals took place, and Empires takes place, with the greatest kingdoms rising from the earth.
The Empires fell after a rapture taking place after trying to join two opposing forces, destroying everything and permanently changing the landscape of the land.
Sometime after, more magical beings began to proliferate after new pools of Titan blood was revealed after the rapture cracking the land open. Afterlife SMP begins.
These magical beings split off eventually after an incident with 15 magical beings. Details unknown, but led a certain magic being to ascend to the heavens to bring back a friend.
In certain regions of the land, cults about the corruption the champion of Exor began sick games with a new set of young adults being sacrificed for both the entertainment and blood for their god within a zone impossible to escape. The Life Series begins.
Meanwhile, a meeting is held to see whether or not they should start new Empires again, as the greatness of those past kingdoms still echoes.
TIMELINE SPLIT: EMPIRES ARE ACCEPTED
The meeting is agreed on for promising individuals to lead a new generation of kings and empires.
Promising individuals from different backgrounds such as the last survivor of a Mesa town famine, a great pirate from a far off island, and a strong willed swordsman from a corrupt kingdom far off.
Empires begin.
TIMELINE SPLIT: EMPIRES ARE DECLINED
No one wants a repeat of the rapture, so the proposal is declined.
Magic research in Titan’s blood and the legacy of the magical beings soars, leading to a council with a grand witch at the centre.
This tradition lasts for a while with a contest for choosing the next supreme witch begins.
Any supreme witch or those affiliated gets the ability to peer into other timelines but not interfere with them.
Witchcraft begins

Who is the most likely to see a donkey and call it donkey Jeremy and decide to call every animal they come across Jeremy and then decide to start a cult religion called jeremyism. And build up a community over time despite the backlash. And then decide to make their wife (who is very much against Jeremism) a prominent figure in the religion (dispute her protests).
very specific question, i wonder where you couldve possibly gotten this from. but zenix would do this. and the wife would be gene

Can we all hold a intervention for Jimmy because damn at this point he has a problem. He always gets involved with cults.
First off was Jeremyism then it was cod (the whole cod council gave me major cult vibes) then he practially sold his soul atm to the fae in empires and now he is making his own religion which he is saint of.
People need to stay with him because he gets involved with way too many cults. He has a problem.

Spoilers for joels latest ep and possibly some ideas you won't like for the lad but I do
So he's building temples for every gods right. His memory is shit, he built a temple for Jeremy. I hear you asking "but joel in X life wasn't a god bleh bleh he just was a mad cult leader" Before I come to that
My hc for c!Joel in general is that he is one of the only few people who can remember his past lives. He recognizes oli, remembers the life series, and all before that. The mezalean empire aswell.
So back to current. He remembers being a part of x life. BUT his ass doesn't remember him not actually being the Jeremy. He remembers the X life joel being like him, but well, shorter and possibly less sexier. (notice the very similar skin for jeremyism but that may be a coinkidink)
So he builds a temple thinking he's building it for past him. Dumbass man. idiot little man. Anyway
But additional joel lore hcs that I want to get out of my head
-his fate always ends in loneliness. Evidence: Esmp s1, X life (he didn't lose his 10th life and went on to live as a nomad), the life series (all three, him and etho died differently)
-He is the best father. I don't fucking care for your angst and shit I will not let Hermès go through it. Him and sausage have a healthy fun platonic relationship where they raise a child together thats what I think
-Him and pearl are siblings. That's it. godblings. (that's pure hc, nothing tied to lore I just find it funny) Maybe there is some connection, he's the god of rain and thunder and she's the god of harvest and good fortune idk idk idk
-he remembers every server he's been a part of, being one the only people who do (grian, martyn, pearl and false [to some extent])
idk what to do with this man I'm just having fun watching him eliminate every possibility of this shit lmao

Religion in the Empires
Pixandria and Rivendell are the religious centers of the world
Pixandria’s religion revolves around the afterlife and memory in the present. Rivendell’s centers around strength and truth. Grief is highly frowned upon in Rivendell, as is Pixandria’s vigil.
Scott insists on grieving his past life and Jimmy anyways.
Church service in Rivendell is called Divinity
The Cult of Exor is a heretic sect of the Church of Aeor. It was mainly practiced in the Lost Empire before it fell into ruin.
The Church of the Blood Sheep started as a subsect of the Cult of Exor before the Lost Empire was invaded and it became its own decree
Rivendell used the fact that the Lost Empire practiced the Cult of Exor as an excuse to invade, but really they were after the resource rich land.
The Ocean Empire worships an axolotl, believing it to have created the land, and turned itself into the oceans in order to enjoy creation alongside it’s creatures.
Similarly, the Cod Empire believes that the Great Land Goddess was slain by the fire god. She dissolved into water, and everywhere her blood touched land a cod was spawned. With her dying breath, she drowned the fire god, and everywhere his breath touched the land, a salmon was spawned.
Religion is highly frowned upon in the Crystal Cliffs and is even outright banned, as they believe that seeking earthly truths is the loftiest pursuit of all
Similarly, it is frowned upon in the Grimlands, but is allowed
The Undergrove doesn’t practice religion in the traditional sense, as they believe by nature of their symbiotic relationship with the Wolf Spirit, they are all equals
Small Holdings worships the Sun, House Blossom worships a deity of spring, Mezalea worships The Mother Tree and a deity of Bliss
Joel was an acolyte of Jeremyism in his past life

I’m losing my mind why did it take Scott making a joke in his latest episode “let’s hope I was a witch in a past life or something” to make me realize that if third life is canonically a past reincarnation to empires, then it’s entirely logical that x-life is too. After all, the servers weren’t all that different from each other: aside from x-life having a different, larger cast, being significantly more modded, and lives working a little differently, and just generally being larger, they had quite similar premises.
It’s modded world, on a limited map. It’s hardcore but with a twist: a set amount of lives (3 for 3rdL, 10 for x) and when you lose enough of them your approach to the server changes (becoming hostile/able to initiate pvp on red, or gaining hearts as you lose lives), and when you lose them all, you’re out.
As it almost always does when you have enough players on a server, it evolves (or devolves, depending on your opinion) into factions and RP.
It’s been a while since I’ve watched it, but if I remember correctly, Joey starts a witch coven, which included Lizzie, Gem, Shubble, Katherine, and Scott. This was a rival faction to something that existed quite early on:
Joel’s cult religion, Jeremyism. He recruited like half the server including Jimmy, they did ritual sacrifices of chickens, their false idol deity was a donkey named Jeremy and Joel was the one actually in control of the whole thing like his skin became like he was a Greek god or something his prophet. This started over some prank war with Scott regarding naming animals. They had some weird rules, all I remember is that they were supposed to name all their animals Jeremy after their god and commandment number 4 is that Scott can’t join, he’s an enemy, blah blah blah this didn’t stop Jimmy from befriending Scott, starting an animal adoption agency with him, and trying to get him to join the religion that he genuinely believed was the way to heaven, although this cult did end up tearing them apart which may be the reason Jimmy freaked out in 3rdlife over the mention of a dark altar but that’s a topic for another post
Anyway, this is a particularly long winded way of saying that maybe Jeremyism is why Joel’s empire is so unaffected and why he himself cannot be directly affected by the demon, can’t see it or hear it, can’t be hurt by it or the corruption.
Joel’s invincible from this thing for the same reason Scott never saw it for so long until he found out about the brother thing.
He’s under the protection of a god.
And damn you Joel /lh for making this line up so freaking well with no one realizing it for so long. You have achieved the Chekhov’s Firing Squad, sir, and I commend you.
