Hello lovely! I’m thinking of taking a swing at pride and prejudice au with this one, especially since I haven’t given it a lot of attention in a while. Hope you enjoy! 

5. “i can’t concentrate with you looking at me like that.” “good.”

The swelling of the swings, their warm vibrato like an extended hand, which Jasmine would usually take with great aplomb, was now stifling. 

And it wasn’t the fault of the ball itself—there was nothing less than agreeable about the gathering, besides the insistence of her mother that dancing would be surely necessary, far more necessary than brooding, should Jasmine wish to find an appropriate suitor—it was the fault of Bosco. 

The tall woman stood in the corner, as though they’d been planted there, weighed down and stagnant in that spot by the heavy wealth. But their gaze was quick, jarring, and somehow always on Jasmine. 

She broke from her sister’s grasp. Jasmine was in a confrontational mood. 

“I’m finding it terribly difficult to concentrate on my task at hand, what with you staring at me so ardently,” Jasmine said as she slid up beside Bosco. “My concentration is faulty under your gaze.” 

“And I suppose you find this a problem to which I must provide a solution?” Bosco barely spoke over their glass, even the crystal looking cheapened by their touch. 

Jasmine huffs, the shake of her shoulders just brushing against the waistcoat draped upon Bosco’s shoulders.She wanted to scoff at the touch of such fine material, but if she were honest with herself, she relished it. 

“I am only asking you to clarify your intentions.” Jasmine peered upward, as though she could find wordless clarification in their countenance. It was, however, empty. “Lest my concentration be diminished to the point where you’d find me exceptionally agreeable, and I would agree in return.”

And as Jasmine reached for a passing tray of drinks, securing a touch of the dark liquid for herself, she could swear she’d seen the upturn of Bosco’s lips. 

Though that was surely a fluke. 

“I can assure you, Ms. Kennedie,” Bosco replied, eyes star-tipped and intently watching Jasmine’s movements. “You will find minimal problems of that nature, especially should you continue your bombastic speech.” 

“Good.” 

Jasmine returned to her sister’s side, allowing the endurance of her sister’s prattling about Bosco speaking with her, who at this gathering may be of interest to her. 

But at the last swallow of her drink, she decided she would no longer care about the looks of Bosco, let alone the regards they may have for any attendees. 

Or at least she would convince herself of as much.

Like when Bosco first finds Orion and Jorgeous they're like "literally how did you recover from what my sister did to you?" Before they're like "what is wrong with you this girl is 14 and her family is poor?" and "Ugh I have to fix this and be a good person, don't I?"

okay no shade to orion, but jorgeous and orion as lydia and wickham would be hilarious. who would be bosco's sister though? 🤔 willow?

Omg I love that like Jasmine’s losing it because her little sister Jorgeous went off and married Orion and she’s gonna straight up kill them both (before Bosco sorts it out with their actual care and feelings and lots of wealth and preserves Jasmine’s family name and her sister’s honor). Like Jasmine’s really yelling at them about the denseness yet emptiness of their brains and Jorgeous is like “whatever sis you’re just sad and lonely and have crooked bangs” and Orion is just like *👁👉👈👁*

#also willow is a good choice for Bosco’s sister too but I kind of might see her as lady Catherine? #or something else idk how I want to put her in this story #I think daya would be Bosco’s sister who begrudgingly explains to this commoner how bosco is actually a good person #and convinces jasmine that she does actually love them #but also willow really could fit that role and daya could be lady catherine like that’s a distinct possibility #honestly lots of choices here and I appreciate all feedback on them because so little is set in stone in my head #it’s a lot of vibes rn and minimal decisions #asks answered #for anon #jasco pride and prejudice au

Ok yes of course because this idea? It tickles my brain 🧠

I see Bosco and Jasmine at one of those dance regency balls, Jasmine flat out pretending as though she isn’t trained in dancing even though she absolutely is and would floor all the gentle ladies of the county with her graceful movements, just because her sisters keep pushing her toward Bosco. And she ends up dancing with them anyway, and spends the next week denying that it was any fun or that their hand in hers, their eyes locked together, had any effect on her whatsoever.

OH FUCK YES P&P JASCO LET'S GOOOOOO

Honestly it's been rolling around in my mind for a while because I *am* an English Teacher (tm) and I simply want to give myself and those around me the story we need and deserve because Jane Austen really went as absolutely hard as she possibly could have with this novel and I feel like it's got to be honored in every way possible.

Also I want to put Bosco in this shirt:

reporting back: different percentages but my top love languages were also affirmation and acts of service! and now thinkig about it a lot of your aus whippedsco is whipped through by the way of doing things for jasmine (like helping with sewing, modeling, with students, etc etc)

We've got similar love languages!

But also that really makes sense like that feels absolutely like peak romance to me so that's such a good point that didn't even strike me. Like whippedsco mainly is whipped by way of making things easier for Jasmine wherever they can and helping her be successful, like modeling the pants to show her that the hem really isn't straight and the pattern really doesn't align. Or bringing her clothes to the fashion school and presenting them when she's not feeling well. Or even during her finals week, I could see Bosco coming over with takeout and helping Jasmine do her dishes and tidy up her work space, just so it's not stressing her out any more than it needs to.

And even teachers au Bosco has talks with Jasmine's most disruptive students, trying to get through to them about how they need to ease up on Ms. Kennedie, because yes she's annoying but that's part of the charm and it doesn't mean they get to act like gremlins when she's just trying to get them to analyze the plot of this story so they do well on their state exams.

if we're going with Kerri for Charlotte, then might I suggest Maddie for Mr Collins (even tho Maddie's a sweetie), purely bc of that time Kerri was like hey~~ when she found out Maddie's straight... and also that time Jasmine curbstomped Maddie during both their fight and lipsync, which translates nicely to Lizzy verbally eviscerating Mr. Collins whenever he gets too douchey lmao

Ok that's actually such a good concept and I'd play Maddy was a sweetheart who really doesn't know what's going on here, who is simply sent out to tend to the birds all the time. Also yes I love the parallel between that weird ass Jasmine and Maddy fight and Elizabeth Bennet turning down that weird ass proposal that literally no one around her understands in any way whatsoever.

yeah i can see daya as Georgiana too specially with the closeness between her and bosco. why i swayed towards willow is because of the fling between georgina and wickham which i can't see Daya taking any kind of nonsense like that. she would scalp poor wickham/orion before she could even attempt to swindle her dowry 😂

Ok but I live for the concept of this being a pride and prejudice au where everything is the same except Georgiana is super tall and absolutely decimates Wickham because Darcy can even think about it and it takes Wickham like years to recover because he can even think about it again fkdkfk

But also thinking that if Willow is Georgiana that frees up Daya to be Lady Catherine de Bourgh, who has 100% time for dramatics and 0% time for Jasmine, which is also a whole concept…

Pride and Prejudice AU: Jasmine is unbothered by her mother insisting upon marriage, especially as she reaches her middle years. She's unbothered by her sister falling so easily into love after a singular dance. She's even unbothered by the advances of her cousin, wishing to marry her as to consolidate her family's meager wealth. But what she is bothered by is the sheer cockiness of the new resident of Pemberly, Bosco, whose wealth proceeds them—which they should be thankful for, as leading with that prideful attitude is doing them no favors.

But upon second, third, fourth encounters...there may perhaps be something more there, something that could melt Jasmine's initial prejudice toward them into something more resembling love.
