"And that's why I'm in charge," Roy says. "Now eat up. Finish it all." Jamie whines again, and Roy's grin breaks free. He loves that noise much more than is appropriate, but as long as Jamie keeps letting him over line after line Roy will keep crossing them. "Why?" Jamie complains - no, laments. Roy lets his grin go a little sharper, takes another step closer to the next line. "Because I told you to," he murmurs, low and threatening and sexy in a way he's found out the hard way most people don't actually find that sexy. "And you'll do anything I say. Won't you?" Jamie swallows so hard, if Roy didn't know any better he'd say he'd got a sucker stuck to his throat after all. Steve was ignoring you. You hadn’t realised it at first but when he would only answer your questions that were related to work and nothing else you caught on. “You’re really going to ignore me?” You asked Steve. 

He didn’t look our way but you saw him glance at you out of the corner of his eye. You sighed at him and turned to the tapes on the counter that would need to be rewound before being put away.

“What did I even do to you anyway?” You grumbled as you popped open the first box, pulling the tap out and sliding it into the player.

"What you did was witchcraft, premeditated and uncalled for… merely to irritate me." Steve snapped. You gasped and turned around.

“I saved your life! That’s why you’re mad!” You shouted and glared at him. He put his hands on his hips.

“You humiliated me. You used your powers to throw me around. In front of everyone.” Steve snapped at you.

“You. Would. Have. Died!” You seethed and glared at him even harder. It made your eyes hurt a little but you really wanted to drive home the point that you were mad.

“Well now everyone knows that you used a spell to save me. Think of all the other things they’re going to assume you did to save me. They’re going to think I can’t do anything.” Steve ranted, his hands gesturing in the air as he got closer.

“Well then. I won't help you anymore and you can be the hero.” You hurried round the counter, threw your green jacket at Steve and stormed out. “Have fun without me helping you asshole.” 

“(Y/N)! That’s not what I… damnit.” Steve turned to Robin, who this entire time, had been eating a bag of popcorn. It was one that was sold as part of a deal in the store but due to a misprint on the packet had to be tossed out. “You were a lot of help.”

“My favourite part was when you yelled, you humiliated me as if that would ever beat the fact that (Y/N) saved your life.” Robin said with a soft snicker as she took the seat you’d vacated and pressed reverse on the player.

“Wel what do I do now?” Steve grumbled.

“Maybe take out life insurance that covers vengeful witches?” Robin suggested. Steve gave her a deadpanned look and she shrugged. “Maybe say thank you for using your powers to yank me out of the way or a giant interdimensional monster that was trying to get its gross monster tentacles into your brain?” Robin offered as she stuffed some more popcorn into her mouth.

“I had it handled.” Steve complained.

“You absolutely did not.” Robin said and smiled at him when he huffed and groaned.

Food Court

A nice place to just sit back, grab some lunch, and decompress for the rest of the mall’s stress. The name sign has been long destroyed because of there having been a local online trend a while back of how many things you could throw at it without the staff getting pissed (turns out a lot until it almost fell on the girl who works the grill), but even so the food’s so good that you don’t really need a title or brand! Ommitsu Kobayashi (He/it)

Ommitsu Kobayashi is a shy, quiet human. He doesn't have much of an opinion on anything, and mostly sticks to making the coffee. Despite this, he seems to get a lot more talkative when his boyfriend, Vincent, is around. According to Ommitsu, Vinny is just the only guy who can handle its energy. Parker Ratson (She/Her)

Parker Ratson is a normal human girl. Yep, that’s it! She works the grills and deep fryers in the food court and is great at juggling them, but she’s just a nice normal human girl. She’s a ray of sunshine in the usually dark food court, and almost seems oblivious to the chaos happening around her most of the time. Her coworkers certainly appreciate her enthusiasm. If anyone insults her or, god forbid, attempt to hurt her? There WILL be problems with the rest of her crew mates.

Jamie Redfield (He/They)

Jamie Redfield is the cashier and a COMPLETELY human guy, yep! He might move stiffly and walk like he’s more used to walking on multiple legs, but he’s completely human! They claimed he was the reincarnation of the dead King of Hell, Melancholy. Nowadays, after escaping, Cedar’s got a whole slew of issues including a fear of leaving the mall alone and often lapsing into moments when enraged where it seems like he IS the reawakened Melancholy. To all his coworkers, and his twin sister, he’s still just Cedar: guy at the Gatwick Food Court who makes the bomb ass sandwiches.

thinking about how both bens manage their power and how it reflects a lot on how their family dynamic works like . listen it's not a coincidence that the few times we see umbrella ben's power it's uncontrollable and all over the place vs sparrow ben who very clearly has total control of it to the point he uses the tentacles as an extension of his own body. umbrella ben is uncomfortable with his power, he sees it as a nuisance ( i didn't sign up for this / can we go home now? ) and, quite frankly, doesn't have a reason to want to control them other than to please reginald . because his siblings are all he's got, especially after five disappears, he worries more about accidentally hurting them than he does about controlling the tentacles, and if we take his brief comic appearance into consideration, it's not farfetched to assume that it's his own inability to control them what ends up killing him. sparrow ben, on the other hand, obviously cares more about his place in the hierarchy than he does his family. which it's not to say that he doesn't care about them at all, because he does even if he wants to be an asshole about it, it's just that he doesn't rely on his siblings as much because competition is handled very differently between the two families. he uses his position in the pecking order as motivation to control the creatures, and it doesn't matter if it hurts others along the way; we see this when he's fighting with jamie, he's encouraged by reginald to continue and he does. when allison and viktor are fighting, he's delighted because sweet. you guys fight just like us, but they don't ! the umbrellas had their fights and disagreements but it's never that violent, never that vicious ! anyway in this essay i will
