rereading a book i loved in high school to annotate a copy. remembering why it connected w me so much
#its the miseducation of cameron post btw#i read it literally 3 times in the space of 2mos almost back to back#i brought it on two trips- that was the year we went to austria and the year i went to national music camp#and like. yeah. yeah i guess that was why#smth abt that book just really cuts to the heart of what it was like for me growing up in the church#my church wasnt the wbc or anything ofc but like. they also werent/arent queer affirming and its hard to explain how it hurt me#bc everyone expects a story where someone sits me down and like. threatens to beat me if im gay or whatever#that didnt happen. its just that i figured out by osmosis from this environment that i was wrong and that i should be ashamed#and nobody ever challenged that assertion so it stuck for years afterwards#its like growing up in a house w mold in it youll never really know that its there until youre told but you know smth is hurting you#and by the time you realize what it is its gonna take fucking forever to remove#and thats how it is w cameron! she knows long before shes sent to the camp#i just keep coming back to how everyone who went to nationals w me came back talking abt this amazing spiritual experience they had#and how much it meant to them to be able to go#and all i was thinking was that i didnt make even 1 friend and everyone treated me like i was fucking diseased the entire time#the guys didnt want me around bc i was a girl and the girls didnt want me around bc i wasnt a girl to them#my roommate acted scared of me from day fucking one and i still dont really know why. wouldnt stay in the room w me#i would sit down somewhere in the common area and people physically turned away from me to have their own conversations#i think they knew. i wasnt out at camp ofc but im p sure they knew smth was up w me#levi.txt#idk. i dont have a Trauma to point to but i feel like calling the effects of what the church did to me religious trauma is appropriate#it fucked me up so so bad. i had to work through so much shit and im still not out of it#today im not ashamed of being queer but im still discovering new issues that living like that gave me all the time#ultimately. im ok rn dw just thinking a lot. its a great book im glad to reread it and really analyze it! its fun

hello ethan! i missed you!
i kind of thought you don't smoke, i don't know why. i do smoke, but i am trying to do it less. because it is so expensive, and, of course, unhealthy.
god, maurice. i have always wanted to watch the movie and also read the book, but they are both very expensive in my country, but i will! the book is on my tbr-list for two years now... dead poets society is my favourite movie of all time. and, also, i fell into my dark academia phase again??? partly because of you and your blog... you won't belive me, but i have never seen the lion king... i'm the youngest one of my siblings and i only watched what they watched. i always wanted to watch it but i never got to choose the movie...
one of my faves also is the miseducation of cameron post. both the movie and the book. i am a huge fan of back to the future as well! also, a stupid one, superbad. it's so funny and i love bill hader..
oh, how'd you like the fs movies? which one was your favourite? i'm sure we are soulmates, it's not just coincidence, dear. about dorian grey, i will get to it and i'll tell you when i will.
oh god, who is your favourite doctor? i can't believe you're into doctor who also. and you mentioned halloween, i don't know what my costume will be yet :( based on your profile pics, you would look amazing as four!!!!!!! can't wait for it.
Ii'm fine. for the first time in weeks i feel truly okay! also, i didnt have too much of a hangover! i love talking to you and just letting all my thoughts out. hope you are doing alright! and i hope you're happy to receive my ask <3
-🐝
hi! its good to hear from you, as always. im glad to hear youre trying to give up smoking. i know it can be hard but in the long run it's probably worth it. i grew up around smokers so i never personally had the desire to i guess. I'll put a keep reading here, so that I'm not flooding people's dashes with my incoherent rambles.
getting a physical copy of maurice is really strangely difficult? firstly, it's expensive and always sold out? but anyway, i read a digital version but i do hope to get my own physical copy mainly for annotation reasons and because certain books, certain stories, i just really like to have them close by. i keep the goldfinch next to my bed eventho i've read it 3 times already because sometimes i just itch? to get my hands on it and to feel the story in my hands again. i hope you get to it soon as well, i hope one day we can discuss these books together as well. im so happy you like dps! (do you maybe run a dps oriented blog here... my detective skills are perking up) that film really does mean a lot to me and honestly, just as with the goldfinch, and interestingly you as well, i can't seem to get enough. no bother that you've yet to see the lion king, it'll always be there and i hope that when you do eventually watch it, that it reminds you of me.
(also i can't believe i dragged u back into the dark academia thing, wow my power. i never really considered myself a dark academia blog because i'm so all over the place but i suppose we do align well with that general sub-culture? aesthetic?)
the miseducation of cameron post! i am going to watch it right after i send this your way, i've been meaning to for ages since so many friends have said good things about it (and queer media is so crucial to me) and now that you've expressed your admiration for it i must. as for superbad and the back to the future films- these are classics and in my opinion great comfort films. i never got overly into the lore of the bttf films but theyre entertaining and fun, every rewatch remains enjoyable.
my favourite fear street was probably the second one, i loved the energy and the soundtrack and how fast paced it was. im a sucker for nonlinear progressions so this series really nestled into my heart really quickly. which one did you like the best?
and doctor who? it literally blew my mind when you brought it up last time. my favourite doctor (og series) is 4, evidently, and from the modern series probably 10. david tennant is just a favourite for me and he never disappoints. i also loved the seasons he did, he truly had some of the best companions. i didn't ask last time but which doctor who book were you reading?
if I do end up going as 4, trust me, tumblr will see the picture evidence.
I'm so glad you're feeling pretty good :D (and that the hangover wasn't so bad) i feel the same btw, its nice to just go off in rambles with you and waiting for your next ask always leaves me wondering what more territory we'll end up having in common (as it seems we're nearly identical.) have you been watching any shows recently? do you prefer tv shows to films or vice versa? I've been rewatching merlin personally. also, answer as vaguely as you'd like, but are we close in age? (I was born in 2003) also if you know them, what is your Hogwarts house and mbti? i know these seem odd questions but I love knowing these tiny personality indicators. however, getting to know your actual personality is much more fun.
i look forward to your next ask!
much love, ethan.

Hi!! I'm Ava and I've posted a few times but I'm only really still in touch with one person, and I would love to meet more people and just make new friends!! I'm 16 and from england but I don't mind if time zones are different!
I'll just talk about some things I love so you can better understand me I guess? I really like art and drawing. I havent had much time  to paint but im going to try to learn to oil paint this summer but as of now I just like doing drawings and my fav is drawing colourful birds!! Or flowers, or sometimes I try to paint along to bob ross who really inspires me because he's so positive! I also love learning and school, im halfway through my GCSEs (exams in england everyone takes when they're 15/16) and im looking forward to studying maths and the sciences next year! I love maths and physics and biology and to a lesser extent chemistry but yeah im a nerd I think physics is honestly so so interesting. I also adore languages and im so sad I cant continue with them next year!! But if anyone speaks french or spanish I would love to try to talk in those languages so I can keep practicing! Im also trying to teach myself russian because I think it’s a beautiful language. I also want to read russian literature in its original language!! That brings me to books, vladimir nabokov in my opinion is an absolute genius his way of writing brings me to tears tbh lolita is stunning, ive read lots of his short stories and other books and im reading pale fire right now and ive never read anything like it. I also like other classics, im finishing dracula rn, and I guess I like YA, the miseducation of cameron post is a really interesting book that I'd recommend, the prose and descriptions is also very lovely! i also love cutesy feelgood books like simon vs the homo sapiens agenda is so so cute
I also love films, ive been trying to watch some more classics bc ive seen shrek too many times…… but yeah my favourite film this year is probably sing street, its just such a beautiful film and I love it.
In terms of music, im not kidding when I say I love everything !! I'm listening to The Cure rn which is a great band, I love other sorta classic bands like the Beatles obv, I like 80s music a lot because my mum is super nostalgic and plays 80s music constantly, indie stuff like Elliott Smith, I used to be an emo and love pierce the veil (lol still listen to them sometimes) I still love paramore (their new album is so good)  and brand new is one of my favourite bands!! im also super nostalgic for the early 2000s and therefore listen to rihanna's old music too much lol
Wow I have written a lot and I bet there's more...oh yeah I have a pomeranian and he is my baby I love him! So if we become friends you will receive daily snapchats of him.
SO yeah my tumblr is cremesodas.tumblr.com if you wanna see my aesthetic and what things I like ?? And my snapchat is avat01 which would be better to talk on because the tumblr messaging system is really bad  lol!
I look forward to hearing from you and I hope we become friends who can just talk easily? I'd love to do cute stuff like make playlists for each other and talk about deep shit or a really fun thing to do is watch films together, I found a website where u can sync films!! I'd love to snail mail but unfortunately my parents are overprotective and don’t want me doing that but if we're still friends when I go to uni that can happen! Wooot ok bye
(btw i dont really mind your age, maybe not under 14 and not over 19? as long as ur nice hehe)

The Chloë Grace Moretz Movie She NEVER Wants You To See!
Chloë Grace Moretz is just getting started on her comeback tour after taking a short hiatus from Hollywood.
Her first movie back? An independent film about the horrors of gay conversion therapy called The Miseducation of Cameron Post -- something personally important to her as she has two gay brothers.
But another small film she did garnered most of its controversy well after she was done with it.
Related: Has Chloë Finally Moved On From Brooklyn Beckham With THIS Actor?!
In I Love You, Daddy, Chloë played a teenager who had an affair with a film director in his 60s, played by John Malkovich. That isn't the scandal -- the scandal was that her father was played of comic Louis C.K., who also directed.
His sexual misconduct scandal came out just after the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival; it was very quickly shelved.
In an interview in The New York Times about her next film, the 21-year-old was asked if it should be released after all this time. Her answer was unequivocal FIRE:
"No, I don't think it should be. I think it should just kind of go away, honestly. I don't think it's time for them to have a voice right now. Of course, it's devastating to put time into a project and have it disappear. But at the same time, this movement is so powerful and so progressive that I'm just happy to be in communication with everyone and to see the big change in the face of the industry, which I think is very, very real."
Yass! Loving how unselfish that perspective is!
BTW, from what we've heard from those who saw the movie, we aren't missing much...
In any case, we have other Chloë projects to look forward to, including the animated Addams Family, a new film by The Crying Game filmmaker Neil Jordan, and the highly anticipated remake of Suspiria from Luca Guadagnino, director of Call Me By Your Name!
But for the morbidly curious, the trailer for I Love You, Daddy is still available online (below)!
