i fucking love gabentine. i love that hes a dork and he just wants to be strong and reliable and tough like the male figures in his life and hes sensitive and clearly unsure of himself. meanwhile clementine has been so hardened by the world and she feels as though all the loss shes been thru is her own fault and shes been forced to become so independent that she feels like she can only trust herself and she ultimately wants safety and a home but shes so tired of betrayal.. and they met each other when they needed understanding from someone their own age, theyre so angsty and feel so unheard by the adults around them, and they learned from each other and felt FEELINGS that they had literally never felt before and they want to protect each other and he thinks shes the coolest smartest person ever and she can read his body language and goes with him when he needs help but doesnt want to feel like he needs help and they make each other laugh and. AND THEN SHE LEAVES! because she has a mission, somebody to protect, a very long list of reasons to hate richmond, and he understands. he wants her to go because he knows what it looks like when someone would do anything to protect their kid, even if they arent a parent. he knows she’ll be safe. and its all so complicated to them on the inside but still so simple to deal with because they are JUST KIDS!!!!!
