#it really is the ultimate wiplash
I just think it's so funny how tvd tries to be so dramatic and ✨dark and exciting✨ and it has lines like "you want a love that consumes you" and then just whips around and says the ultimate joy is not in the dramatics or the adventure, it is not in having greater power than those around you, but is instead found in loving your loved ones, quietly and deeply, knowing that you will love them tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.

I kno i talk about Morganthe getting bad rap (esp a few years ago like right after arc 2 ended) but i think Cyrus got (and still gets it) a lot of shit from players.
The fun thing about Disliking Cyrus is that i felt the writers /intended/ to have the players react that way, but then ultimately realize WHY he acted that way towards us, and therefore sympathize with him as a character towards the end of arc 1.
Unfortunately I don’t know for how many players that ended up clicking for- and honestly I didn’t really figure out that he acted so mean towards the wizard was because he KNEW how likely it was that malistaire would kill us- so to avoid that from happening he took many opportunities to either convince our wizard to drop out, or try an expell us. It’s only after we prove how dedicated and strong willed we are does Cyrus put that fear aside and help us go after his brother.
Which, i have to say i absolutely love that writing because it required the player to /really/ pay attention to what the hell is happening in game and the dialogue shared between characters, AND how you the player are reacting to those things initially.
I actually find a good bit of similarity between Cy and Morganthe as characters in this respect- like here you have two characters that are shown as antogonists to the wizard in some form, and clearly the wizard is encouraged not to trust them, or that they have mal intent just for the sake of malice. But if you look deeper, if you’re able to look past your role as the wizard, you mighr start to see what their motives are and perhaps it comes from a place of good and care (even if their actions do state otherwise).
Which *deep, begruding sigh* i can sense that the Writers did this intently with Cyrus...... I really can’t say for damn sure if they did it with Morganthe because (and one day ill fucking elaborate because christ on a stick) the amount of back and forth they do with her... i get wiplash just thinking about it.
Anyway . Cryus Drake is Good and I’ll fight anyone for him lmao

Hnnngg I know it's been a few days since you put out the wiplash emoji game, but if you wanna still do it: 🔢 and perhaps 💢? (Also I hope you're doing okay!! I know things are a little rough rn, so do try and take care of yourself! 💙)
Oh yeah no problem!!! WIPlash can be done ANY time!!!! Thank you!!!
How many characters feature in your WIPs, on average? How many get viewpoints? How often do you find yourself forgetting about one or two?
So... Funny thing, Ehlverse WIPs skew this estimate a LOT. Ehlverse books usually have between 10-20 characters throughout their stories (Firebreathers has a LOT because of the family sizes, and exploring all of them) whereas Switchedverse ones have like. 6 characters, max.
For Firebreathers in particular, there are 4 main viewpoints, with Ember prevailing over everyone else, since 1) all of part one (-interludes) is in their POV, and 2) they still narrate for about 3/4 of the chapters in the rest of the book. Other characters, including ‘’’minor’’’ ones like Xavi, Emerald, Dawn, the Timber kids, etc. still get chapters, but it’s 1 or 2 max, because they’re interludes mid-part or between parts.
Otherwise, it’s usually just 1-3 viewpoints! Also, I do forget characters occasionally (ahem Winter Adisa) but usually, that’s because they don’t show up in the part I’m currently writing.
Who is the recipient of your protagonists’ most fervent hatred? Who is their most trusted ally? Who do they feel neutral toward?
I’ll answer this for Ember, specifically, because they’re really ‘the Protagonist’ for Firebreathers, for all the reasons mentioned above!
They absolutely hate the unidentified men who killed [REDACTED]. They may have moral qualms with killing people, but trust me, those would be thrown out the window if they ever met those men. (DM me if you want to know who they killed, it’s a p big spoiler, as it’s a major backstory element, so i don’t want to put it here)
However, in terms of trust? The entirety of their family (both blood related - Nimbus + the other siblings - and found - the Meywins + the Coronas eventually) are on the TOP of that list. As much gruffness as Ember puts out, they’re actually really trusting, and when they trust you, they are ride or die.
Ultimately, they’re pretty neutral towards everyone else. Xavi + Ozzie + Zero are a bit further towards the trust side, but not quite ride or die. Most other people they interact with in the Firebreathers are just kind of... there, in Ember’s eyes. But really, if you manage to make it into their Family Bubble™ they will trust you forever.
