"What do we do?" he asked, Mara's presence calming the faint worry in his tone.

Her stern voice left his gaze wandering to the ground at his feet, away from connecting with hers. Technically, he was asking for the warning, even if his whispers were brief; a passing comment about the swamps they were currently trying to cross. "I'm sorry. I promise I will never say 'this place is a karking shithole ever again'." he could feel his feet squelching in his boots, an unpleasant thing to be experienced by anyone, "It's just I think it's easier if we'd just landed on the other side. Dad said as much."
