I don't know who needs to hear this but

If somebody messages you anywhere saying "I reported you on accident, you're gonna get banned, CLICK HERE to help me fix it," it's a scam.

If somebody asks you to send personally identifying information or banking details in order to "clear up something," it's a scam.

If somebody asks you to send them money in Amazon/Apple gift cards, it's a scam.

If a user you know DMs you in a wildly different way than they usually do, typically with the aforementioned "I reported you" or some other sort of sob story that requires you to ACT NOW and CLICK HERE, it's a scam.

Even if something looks genuine, stop and think; check email addresses; message people directly through other means to double check that it's them; log in to whatever website you think there's a problem on through a proper browser and not through whatever link was sent to you.

It is the year of our lord 202fucking4 and there shouldn't still be messages going around saying SCARY NEW SCAM and it's literally the same shit that's been going around for twenty years and that everybody who works an office job gets drilled on twice a year every year. Yes, there are people who are great at social engineering and running a scam anybody could fall for, but those sorts of people tend to target lawfirms and banks, not randos on Discord. Your average scambot won't be that slick.
