You know what's really sad? In the Fitting In episode, every reason Virgil gives for not fitting in to each house is... very negative. He says that he doesn't fit any of the positive traits listed and goes on to basically just insult himself. He can't possibly be a Ravenclaw because he only ever solves problems by accident or when everyone else already has the pieces to the puzzle (as if they would have ever put those pieces together without him). He can't possibly be a Hufflepuff because he's not hard-working (as if he isn't making Thomas anxious 24/7 lol. Not to mention that showing up to do your job and immediately being insulted and rejected every time takes a toll on him. Like at this point in time, every time he's shown up and dealt with that is automatically hard work. He just doesn't see it that way)
Even in the few times he says he doesn't fit a negative trait, he does it in a self-deprecating way. Like he says he can't be Gryffindor because he's not reckless or impulsive (which are both traits usually seen as negative) but instead of acting like thats a good thing he goes on about how he's a "worrier".
Its just really sad to think about. Like obviously the ultimate conclusion of the video being that you don't need to fit into specific categories at all is entirely reasonable but... Virgil's struggles with fitting in all seem tol be based on his own negative view of himself. He cant see himself as being part of any of these houses because he can't see himself as having any positive traits at all. And that's really sad.
I'm with Patton on this one. If he keeps talking bad about himself I'm going to physically fight him
