More on characters dressing up for their cards to make you pull for them, with a focus on Shu

Yep! The characters at first try to do any aesthetic they can think of because they don´t yet know what your tastes are like. They´re all pretty nervous the first time, all dearly hoping that they managed to match your tastes well enough to endear themselves to you. Please, they would be absolutely overjoyed if you pulled for their cards!

They´re all kind of impatient with getting their turn finally because earlier on in the game your dia funds will probably be bigger so the chance that you might throw some pulls their way is higher. At the same time, coming later is an advantage because they´ll have some knowledge of what has or hasn´t worked, meaning that they can still change some things around in hopes of appealing to you.

Izumi and Arashi probably have an advantage over everyone else, being models and everything they´re confident in their abilities to pose well and bring out the best in them. Makoto has also modeled before but his bad experiences with it kind of hold him back from performing just as well as the other too :/

Anon, I´m always happy to talk about Valkyrie so thank you for the ask! Now let´s get one important thing out of the way: Shu takes great pride in his art and usually doesn´t care to appeal to a certain audience, instead only acting out on his own vision. So you must be very important to him for him to even think about taking your tastes into consideration when designing a new outfit to wear for his card. He´s usually so confident in what he does but he´s desperate enough for your approval to change up all he´s worked for so far, just to increase his chances with you.

And as you said, Shu is very careful and takes notes when he sees what cards you pull for and which ones are ignored by you. He´s got to keep that in mind but he does have the advantage over a lot of the other idols that he makes the costumes himself and thus can change them however he likes. A lot of the other units get their outfits tailored by someone else, some of them even by Anzu! Do you really think she´s going to give it her all when they want to use the outfits to impress you? She probably messes up on purpose while making the outfits kdjfdb

But Shu is so focused when making the outfits himself, he´s a perfectionist at heart and keeps changing things over and over if they don´t fit his vision 100%. He´s even harsher with himself because he knows he´ll have to be at his absolute best to win you over, which is his one goal in life. He deeply craves your affection so he goes all-out, likely pulling all-nighters just to make sure everything is absolutely perfect.

Mika offers to help him out but Shu quickly refuses, not wanting anyone to even touch the outfit he´s made so carefully. If it´s for an event with Valkyrie then I guess Mika can count himself lucky that he gets to wear such a wonderful outfit that will impress you. Shu can´t let you think he´s sloppy with his job because his unit mate looks way worse compared to him.

Oh, but can you imagine how much power you actually hold over him and his creations? Like, if you pull for pretty or elegant cards then Shu is in his element and knows what he needs to do. But what if you happen to pull for the silly Kohaku bee outfit or the catboy Ritsu card ( me af )? He´s going to be distraught at first because it´s so completely different from what Valkyrie usually wears, so does that mean you don´t like what they have put out so far?? Straight up panics but then realizes that what you think has priority so he throws himself right back into work to somehow try to top these two outfits.

Also yes, the poor photographer, you just know Shu has an exact picture in his mind that he won´t budge on no matter what, and the photographer is not allowed to go home until Shu is 100% satisfied. At this point you could call it a hostage situation jdfsf

the plan is to binge lots of the stories in my free time (and fast forward through the ones i don't really want to read), passive play the upcoming events (i have exams atm so can't dedicate full time for some of them; plus i need to save resources) to get as much dia as possible, use the weekend coupons from the official tumblr account up until and during aridane, level up my cards as best as i can (himeru why does your song have to be a sparkle - my worst attribute on the en server) then when the event hits, just grind like crazy (following the advice you've given and your hot limit experience), hope for the best and hope i get lucky on the gacha (idk if i'll be able to do full 10 10 pulls, so im just gonna hope i get good luck

being realistic, i need to lower my expectations, because 22m is going to be very very hard let's just hope the autism gets me through this

once again thank you so much for all the tips, i want the himeru 5 star so bad (i spent half a year slowly grinding event memorial coins to get him on jp server) and i want the secret outfit (but i could live without it) (at least obbligato is a tour and is ages away after this [around 11 months])

if anything, you could consider going for 7.5m, or 11m? since those are a bit more accessible, you could still go for a form of scr if you go for the latter, and that way you're more prepared for the next time you choose to scr something!

i personally always have vip I active, i think it's a good way to earn passive dia, the 30bp cap is very nice so you dont have to set constant alarms when your bp caps, so i definitely recommend it if you can allow yourself to get it! i also think that since we're most likely getting the cospro banners for wwys around the time ariadne drops, we might get some dia or ticket packs on sale then that would be worth checking out — with the starpro one, the 4.99 and 9.99 ones were the most worthwhile iirc

also, i'm planning on going 22m for it! i've been saving up since hot limit, only digging into my funds for fs rinne and cowboy niki scr and since i play basically everyday i was able to recoup that pretty easily! i'm gonna try to keep a better documented run this time around so that i have concise info to give when ppl ask questions though :-) !!!!

continuation of my previous a3! post/wishful thinking regarding the best case scenario of a3! en continuing

not my idea but someone mentioned having a subscription type payment added to the game where subbed players get extra items and cards in exchange for guaranteeing the localization team income for the month. i don’t have anything against this, its a fine idea, in fact Obey Me! does it already and players get bonus items and access to the animated shorts on DevilTube.

my ideas tho are more of kickstarters that help fund the localization team. essentially we pay for ebooks. they don’t even have to have narration like “He moved to the kitchen and said...,” it could literally be very rough and like stage scripts ie:

JUZA: You made cake? Can I have a slice?

OMI: Sure, cut yourself a slice!

the amount of Acts translated can be split into something like Main Story Act 1 - 4 as a “bundle”/main goal, with getting all the Event stories, mini-chats, and Backstage stories as extra unlockable tiers. We don’t have to worry anymore about ranking of Event grinding or RNGsus giving us the correct SSR cards, we all get all the stories at the same time, we just have to actually pay money because these will just be regular books at this point. also, since there are no more rolls/banners for new cards, just letting everyone access the stories is fair i think.

in terms of distribution, while seeing that character’s emoting faces is great, i think that ebooks/the scripts being somewhere more accessible to the public like kindle or kobo or ibooks or whatever is better for archival purposes. having the app update just once or twice a year with more story content and all would be nice, but speaking from experience as a person who has already lost an online gacha game, having things tied to the app and the servers wouldn’t be good if CYBIRD/LIBER decides to finally really just pull the plug. for nostalgia reasons and since it barely takes any space at all, i still have terra battle of all things on my ipad. however, when i open the app it gives me a “can’t connect to servers” error message because the server’s plug got pulled, and i have to go to the wiki if i want to actually read the stories. so, having the ability to buy the translations as regular ebooks and having the ability to have it on your computer offline / having a personal copy forever is better than nothing/having to rely on the app constantly, even if we lose the “visual” part of the “visual novel” and just have a “novel.”

kickstarters could be held once or twice a year depending on the amount of the Acts/Main and Event stories that get grouped into a “bundle”/untranslated content is in the japanese a3!

again, i doubt that this will happen given how strict and weird japanese companies are sometimes, but it’s the best case scenario where we could still get updated translations from the official localization team where we bait LIBER with some money and also give the localization team some extra income bc i do follow a lot of official anime/video game translators on twt and half the time they’re contracted freelancers who get underpaid for the amount of work they do and i’d gladly give them some extra money.

Welp that’s it, that’s all i got. basically our issues with A3! en’s servers were money related and it seems like the only way to try and continue something, even if it is a little pricey and takes some time, is to give money upfront and treat anything farther like a regular ebook that you would purchase.

also, quite unlikely altho 2020 was a bad year for LIBER’s jpn revenue due to cancelled events and such, if they ever do complete the story and shut the jpn servers down as well, i do hope that LIBER treats the jpn fans right and give them the story in some form as well, whether that be putting all the story on their website, keeping the app up, or literally just compiling everything into physical or digital books that you can buy and keep forever rather than just having the app disappear for good.

also, in a way, A3! eng fans aren’t alone in a server halt. the Taiwanese servers got shut down earlier this year it seems and many Taiwanese players have to migrate to the mainland China servers....
