Marek's Backstory(?):

Marek was adopted as a young child when an attack on his village killed his parents and the rest of the village, a human soldier (named Kei) overcome with guilt at what had been done to the young boy's family and not having the heart to finish him off like the rest. The soldier's actions were frowned upon by the rest of his team, as well as Kei's village once he had returned, leading Marek to lead a life where he was often shunned and mocked for the majority of his life.

Kei trained Marek whenever he was given the opportunity to do so, and there were even times when he had convinced others to allow Marek on smaller quests so the boy wouldn't be forced to be left alone. The people of the village had grown accustomed to Marek being around, though they were still wary of him, settling for distrustful stares and clenched jaws rather than belittling him now. The kid grew like a weed too, which didn't really help and make him feel as though he'd fit in with the other children.

Later in his teenage years, Marek accidentally injured a training partner when he overlooked the difference in strength between them nearly shattering the man's leg, leading to a swarm of angry villagers wanting blood after the training partner claimed: "he was trying to kill me". Marek fled the village to escape their wrath, heading to the mountains for shelter and freedom. Before he was able to begin his ascent, Kei appeared from the nearby forest wielding a torch to try and talk Marek into coming back and explaining his side of the story, though unbeknownst to Marek it was all a lie to lower his guard to the soldier he had looked up to as a father. Just as Marek was slowly calming down and willing to go with Kei, the torch in the soldier's hand was thrust towards the young goliath's eyes to disorient him with a piercing scream, as Kei drew his weapon to finish him off. After a long and tiring battle with Marek unable to see, Marek was able to kill Kei on a nearby rock after repeatedly bashing his head in anger, with Marek taking Kei's weapon and retreating into the mountains to start his new life in solitude with a burning hatred for the human race and their traitorous ways.
