q charlie broke his glasses. its one of the explosions that does it—doesn't really remember it clearly. just, one moment flippa was there, his glasses intact, and then... wasn't. it was autopilot, he would think. the only driving force was that anger, that little fireball of rage between his lungs that soon spread to the tips of ember-stung fingers. without it, when that fireball had been extinguished only to find an aching heart in it's place, he still had broken glasses—and he couldn't really find the will to fix them (he had bigger needs, bigger problems to attend to). she came back then, but still, his glasses stayed broken. something deep within him broke, and has been broken, since that first time flippa died. that first taste of losing something he cared so deeply about, it was the first ball of snow that cascaded into an avalanche.

and then flippa comes back again. on his birthday, no less. she comes back with broken, cracked glasses too, and he doesn't bat an eye. not because he doesn't know, but because he doesn't care. he knows this is just too perfect. but she's back, right? he promised to love her in any form she took—no matter her name, her appearance—and this wasn't going to be the time that he failed her.

if something inside her was broken, fundamentally wrong, well, the apple doesn't fall from the tree, it seems.

and he was going to burn the earth to show everyone what "broken" really means.

listen listen listen codeflippa with emotions/humanity becoming attached to charlie?? charlie protecting her from the world and finding similarities between him and the code??? he understands what it means to be outcast and adopts her, breaking all hell loose whenever codes are mentioned in a bad way??? even when the code has been ruthless to other people?? even when flippa is so obviously not flippa??

i know it's more of hc but itd be so fun to see what happens if parts of the code gains sentience and what happens to trust in relationships because of itttt :)))
