something pissed me off today i was on that godforsaken app and someone was discussing how there are complex characters in re and people dont understand them and they used chris, wesker, ada, and luis. they claimed to like chris and wesker (as evidenced by the multiple comments dissecting chris’s ‘character’ in the series. they claimed to not like ada or luis but “understood their characters” yet didnt explain further why they didnt like them.

what gets me is that i see this same thing on tiktok where its basically people hating on ada but disguising it as wanting better writing for her.

like im sorry but re characters are not well written. theyre written by multiple different people throughout multiple different games, movies, and comics, and no one can agree on anything. most of the characters are essentially blank slates with no discernible personality traits. which is why it pisses me off so much.

whenever it comes to ada she doesnt get the same treatment as other (male) characters. i saw one person who disliked ada but they loved chris, wesker, luis, and leon. and liking luis but hating ada is always gonna baffle my mind because theyre so similar to each other. no, ada never gets an explanation as to why shes disliked other than “she needs better writing.” hey guess what. everyone in the series needs better writing.

i have my own 300 paragraph essays about ada because just like the other characters, there is barely anything to her in canon. most of my interpretation of her is literally in my head because capcom gives us jack shit. but her bad writing is used against her for people to dislike her character, but despite being slightly expanded on in re4make and separate ways its still not enough for people to latch onto. people latch onto the damn cameraman from re7 for crying put loud.

and i know this too because theres tons of people who like ada just like me and have the same interpretations, or different ones, but ones that still expand her character. hell, this can apply to any female character too, sheva, claire, ashley, mia, manuela, jill (although she’s not as much of a victim to this as other characters). like sorry but why is “poorly written” only a characteristic i see for the female characters.

idk i just think fine like whoever you want, write your essays, but dont complain about a badly written character when you yourself like a badly written character. we’re all in the same boat here

in faaaairness the last time i went to albury (uhhhh 2017 april for my grandparents anniversary) wasnt too bad. i WAS on my period bu- oh my gucking god i swear if im on my period again this time i will lose it. please have the celebration on the 15th PLEASE. i cant deal with this again. please on the 15th. god. god have mercy. why the fuck am i cursed.

point is it wasnt AWFUL. but that was also just before like a GIGANTIC anxiety spike which struck like. may? just a huge one that basically tanked my relationship with all my friends bc monkey brain do monkey shit, i guess, its wild. like the whole thing will probably be fine. ill live, yknow? ill manage. ill make do. ill miss a stream on the sunday bc ill be stuck in a hotel room w/ my parents but what are ya gonna do man. the answer is wake up at 5am anyway bc the body bell tolls and now youre conscious of every goddamn rustle in the goddamn hote. on the BIG plus this time ill actually get a decent bed, probably. when we went last time, we stayed a the place thats like, at the start of town when you’re coming from wodonga? with the two levels and the central car park, just across from the proper park. and bc they never have 3 bed rooms (1 for mum/dad, 1 for my sister, 1 for me) they grabbed a single and just chucked it near the door so my heads up against the fucking brickword next to the door. but since itll be just 2 beds i would get the double allllll to myself, or at least a single in a location that is considerate of living people with needs and concerns. point is YEEHAW PROPER BEDS. and bedside tables w/ chargers! heck yea! last time was rough for that. yeesh.

i honestly wish what we would do is we would drive up on the saturday (like idk leave at 10am or smth), get to albury, check in, dad can have a quick nap, then we head over to uncle’s place at 5 or w/e and thats the evening set, b4 we get back to the hotel and go tf to sleep, and then leave the next day at like 2pm or smth (maybe brunch w/ uncle idfk dude). but odds are solid we’ll head up friday afternoon which means we have to kill saturday morning/afternoon and that sucks because albury.... aint exactly.... popping. i mean ive Already been to the park. its a nice park. do i need to go again? not really if im honest, a park is a park.

#part of me wants my uncle to go 'yea we're doing it queens birthday' and since we CANNOT GO UNDER /ANY CIRCUMSTANCE/#we just like. call in on facetime or smth at like 6pm and we chill in a video call for a while to make up for being unable to go #bc i CANNOT go queens birthday lmao. good fun. love that. also again i refuse to fucking leave my house on my own damn birthday
