Reader has scars from her past, depends on how you look at it, and usually hides them.

Rin comfort reader?

You should totally do it. I’d support you 100%! Also this turned into a comfort-confession one shot later on as I kept writing this, but I hope this what you sort of wanted! [I apologize this took so long to get out. Writers block you know?]

(Warning: mentions of scars and abuse. You have been warned…)

Rin noticed you've been wear long clothes ever since he's met you, even on hot summer days. He doesn't question you by any means, thinking maybe it's just your personal preference of clothing, but you usually get defensive whenever anyone asked you about it. Rin slowly grows concerned over you because of it. He wasn't quite sure why, but his metallic heart was just begging for him to ask you about it. He didn't know what this feeling was, being new to emotions and all that. After some thought, Rin made up his mind, getting up from where he sat with his brothers to go find you.

“Rin where you going?" Rin stopped in his tracks to look at Purl-Hew. "I thought we were-"

"Forget it Purl. I got something important to do right now. I'll join you guys later.”

With that said, Rin took a huge sprint to go find you. Purl-Hew and the rest of the boys looked at each other, but shrugged, not knowing what Rin was going to go do.

Rin didn't know what he was doing, or why he was doing it, but his heart was telling him to just go. Over a simple question even. He didn't know why his metallic heart started speeding up when he got closer to the guest room you were staying in. Rin began to feel frustrated, not knowing how he was truly feeling. He heard from the other side you were watching something, so you were still in the mansion thank god. He just had to see you. Rin then felt something arise in him as he was about to knock on the door. It prevented him from doing what he wanted to do.

Not now dammit. Is this what... what is it called. Being nervous? Rin speculated and fought in his mind. He was able to do these things easily before, but not now.

"Hey Rin what's up?"

He must have been really out of it, not noticing you opened the door and looked up at him til now, a light white hue formatting on his coloured cheeks just from seeing you, and him from just standing there like a doofus.

"A-Ah hi Y/N."

“Is something wrong Rin?"

"N-No it's just, uh..."

You never seen him look or sound this anxious. He was usually proper, charming, and brave, but here he was, looking scared as a leaf. You immediately grabbed his hand, well-knowing it just have been his new emotions coming into play while dragging him into the room.

"Ok Rin. What's going on? Did something happen?" You asked, shutting the door behind you.

Rin seemed frustrated from the way he sighed. “Fine I'll tell you, just don't get mad at me ok? I'm just... what's the word again?” He paused to think- “Worried about you, yeah…”

Wait worried about me? You thought, walking to your bed, patting a seat beside you for Rin to sit down

"Rin I'm perfectly fine! There's nothing for you to worry about."

Rin took his time walking toward you to sit down, now bringing an arm around you. A long pause took place before Rin been spoke. “Y/N, what's the real reason why you wear long clothes?"

That's what broke you, feeling a surge of anger coming within you. Feeling yourself go in defence mode. "For the last time-"

"Y/N I apologize for asking again, but it's always been just excuse or something else." Rin cut you off, grabbing your shoulders lightly to face directly at you. His piercing white dots-for-eyes looked right through your soul at that moment. Not just that, but you saw something in him you haven't noticed before. Rin looked worried, scared... It surprised you seeing emotions on his face, especially in his eyes for the first time, so you knew he said it cause he didn't wanna hurt you or insult you in any way, but he was just looking out for you, being a genuine friend looking out for you. It was just like any good leader would do. It was about time you told him the truth, knowing Rin for longer more then the other members of 1010, he deserved to know about your secret first.

"Fine Rin just... Don't go tell everyone else after I tell you. I'll tell all the gang once I'm ready, but it will take time." Rin eyes soften hearing that, and his heart softened while also beating against his chest.

"Of course Y/N, I promise."

You grabbed one of his hands from your shoulder without thinking, tightening your grin around his huge hand in your small one. "W-Well Rin, it all started when I was younger. I didn't live in a decent neighborhood growing up, or a decent family either, so I had to fend for myself most of the time. Both my parents were alcoholic abusers, and my older siblings gave no shits about me once they moved out. They didn't even offer me to move out with them at all..."

Rin nodded, telling you to continue with curious, sad eyes.

"There were a few times my parents attacked me with sharp objects when they were on their alcoholic rampages, and that's when..." You rolled up your sleeve, revealing the multiple scars you've received in your past. Rin gasped seeing them, making you think whether you should have exposed yourself like this or not, but you continued anyway- "I got my very first scars. As I grew older, nothing got better. Still lived in a dangerous shithole. My parents didn't care wether I went to school or not, or worked. I worked as hard as I could to get the money I needed to be able to attend classes, plus I got help from some online friends that I still talk to to this day. I got into a lot of fights with other kids in school too, and the teachers of course didn't do jackshit to help me, nor the police." Rin was fully paying attention now, rubbing his thumb on your knuckle to comfort you, making you feel confident to continue - "From those kids." You lifted your leg sleeve up to show your bigger scars. "They did this to my legs."

“Y/N..." Rin's voice cracked, bringing you in a tight embrace. You felt something cold on your shoulder after a second.

He's... crying?

Him crying made you start tearing up yourself, nuzzling your face into his neck and brought him closer to your embrace. At this point you thought he heard enough and couldn't take it anymore.

"R-Rin it’s ok, I’m ok, so don't cry... please. I-I won't continue if me telling my past is hurting you this much." Rin sniffed, running a hand through your hair.

“T-Those bastards. How could they hurt something as precious as you?!" His grip tightened on you, making you gasp.

"I-I think you heard enough-"

“N-No Y/N please, go on... I-I don't even know why I started cry, just I-"

You brought a hand into his hair, hoping to calm him down. "Shh..."

Rin seemed to calm down after a bit from the gesture, making you smile. After a bit, you didn't hear sniffles anymore.

"You feeling better?" You asked, pulling away from the embrace to look at him. His eyes were stained with oil stains, making your heart hurt from the sight alone.

“Y-Yeah." Rin replied, wiping the remaining tears off his face. "Now continue..."

You wanted to say no, you really did. You just didn't want to hear or see him crying again, but he needed to know. "I-If you're comfortable with it, then I will. Don't worry it gets better."

Rin nodded, moving his head to be placed onto of yours. "I hope so..."

"I decided to drop of out the highschool I was in, and the job I had. I grabbed what I could and snuck out and never looked back. Best decision I've ever made. All because of my online friends."

Rin's eyes sparkled hearing that, a creeping smile appearing on his face.

"My online friends told me about a place called Vinyl City, which is were they lived. I was working on getting education when it came to music, and said fuck it and I flew over here with the remaining money I had to start a knew life. They help me so much to get me on my feet..." You paused, pushing yourself away from Rin to cup his metal cheek.

"If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be where I am today, and I'd never meet my bestest friend in the world, and the one I love most that's always kept me going." You meant every word, but in the moment, you accidentally let the last words leave your lips, feeling yourself more exposed then ever.

Rin's mouth opened a little, expressing he was in shock. Your story was sad yes, but you beat the odds and made a better life for yourself, and the matter of fact that you loved him.

"Love... that's what I was looking for!"

You looked at him puzzled, now slipping your hand from his cheek. Rin noticed this and caught your hand, putting your hand back on his cheek.

"When I was coming here to ask you about this, my whole body didn't stop moving. All I thought about was you as I ran to the room. I wasn't just worried and scared." Rin paused, averting his eyes away from you for a second. "I-I also loved- love you! Even before the upgrade. I always had this urge to protect you. I didn't know why until now, and now I know."

This confession left you stunned, feeling the wave of emotion hit you. "Y-You're kidding right?"

"No I'm not! Y/N, I didn't know you were so brave just- I- you're incredible, I love you!" Rin stuttered his words, but managed to pull you into a loving kiss, he couldn't hold himself back anymore from expressing how much he loved you.

"Rin..." You muffled against his lips, feeling Rin push you down on the bed. You felt yourself smile, feeling so much better then before for finally telling someone about your past with no judgement or ridicule, and that you finally confessed your love to your best friend and he accepted them back.

Rin pulled away after a bit to let you breathe. He could kiss you forever if it wasn't for the fact you needed air to breathe. Your lips felt like velvet against his own. His coloured cheeks grew brighter the longer he looked at you when he pulled away, making you giggle.

"Can't believe the leader of 1010 is embarrassed, how cute.”

Rin looked away from you, laying down beside you to put his neck in your neck. “Mmh..."

You knew right then and there that he wasn't planning to move anytime soon, so you got yourself comfortable, and started running a hand through his silk-like hair. The silence in the room was nice. The sound of Rin's fans and heart calmed you. They seemed to slow down as the minutes went by, indicating he was fully relaxed. As you layed there with your new lover, you had high hopes for your guy's future, and you not letting your past take over you.
