#if you liked bg3 and want something like it play pillars of eternity

The lack of ending slides in Baldur's Gate 3 is still very much ridiculous to me. Not only is it a staple in the CRPG genre, but it also serves as a total and complete closure, the consequence of all the actions that the protagonist has ever taken. How each of your companions fare or what they will do after the event of the game, each of the world's specific regions and how your character's decision has affected it. I want to know!

Exhibit 1: Pillars of Eternity and the consequence of your action on Dyrwood.
Sure, the romance companion epilogue is somewhat of a saving grace, but if you somehow didn't romance anyone (or romanced a certain someone who was bugged), it truly feels abrupt.
I think the companion that's most affected by the lack of an ending slide is unromanced, vampire-spawn Astarion. You solved his personal quest, freed 7000 of Cazador's vampire spawns into the Underdark, and what do you get in the end? A 15-second footage of him scurrying away because since the tadpole is gone, his sun immunity is also gone. Better run fast or turn into dust! Then the game ends. Credit rolls, black screen, a little tune plays, and you see your clownish reflection on the screen, asking yourself if anything you've done really matters at all.
One ending slide that left a very strong impression on me was Devil of Caroc's in Pillars of Eternity 1's DLC The White March. It was so beautifully written. I expected BG3 to have something that could give me that same (or even better) impact, especially after hearing "Baldur's Gate 3 Has 17,000 Ending Variations" used as a selling point. Turns out it's just the companion saying slightly different lines and like... three actual ending cinematic.
Bummer!

I know that they will be "expanding" the epilogue, but it's been nearly a month after release. So many people have already finished the game, and it's quite unfair that the early adopters of a seemingly completed-for-release game get the short end of the stick.

serious question: what non bioware games would you recommend to someone who really prefers that kind of game? rpg with custom protagonist, cutscenes and choices, that is. i don't exclusively play bw games, but a lot of what i play is made by them because i don't really know any other games in a similar style. or did you also mean "play games of a different genre/style"?
i'm currently going through bg3 and i do enjoy it but i wasn't a big fan of dos2 for example simply because of a lack of cutscenes with your character.
i don't mean this in a "well i only like video games like that so i won't play anything else!!" way, i would genuinely like to hear your recommendations
i think the thing here is that all game studios have a niche, something that is core to nearly all the games they make - and that kind of cinematic experience is very much a Bioware thing
i know i sound like a broken record at this point but i highly HIGHLY recommend Pillars of Eternity. if you enjoy high fantasy rpgs like Dragon Age then I really do think Pillars of Eternity is worth looking at. It doesn't have the same cinematic cutscenes as Dragon Age or Mass Effect but it does have character customisation, class options, faction reputation, and in the second game (Deadfire), companion reputation and romances. Other than that, I would also suggest Fallout. Fallout 4 is the most recent (I'm not counting fallout 76 lol) so I think that has the best to offer in terms of character creation (at least appearance wise) and cutscenes. My personal favourite is New Vegas - there's no romance or in-game cutscenes, but there's a lot of character customisation when it comes to how you want to play the game. You can customise how your pc looks of course but since it came out in 2010 its not exactly the best (though mods go along way) if I can suggest another rpg that isn't High Fantasy (and is another obsidian game lol), there's also The Outer Worlds. it's on my to play list, there aren't any romances but there is character customisation and from what friends have told me it's a very well written and enjoyable game :) like i 100% understand where you're coming from and i totally agree, i really do enjoy the more cinematic aspects of bioware games, they can add a lot to the experience! but having expanded out of mass effect and dragon age in the last year or so i've just realised that i also really enjoy games that react to my choices and have me and my pc deal with the consequences!! it makes for such interesting character and world building and this is why i think ive gotten so into fallout new vegas and pillars of eternity this year. sorry for the wall of text - i hope you're enjoying bg3 and its giving you the things you were looking for :) im definitely enjoying it

Pinned Post
Hello, I am Sinani and I welcome you on my blog.
I am 23yo AMAB genderfluid person with ADHD, being poly pansexual with preference for men. I used to write FanFics, mostly crossovers, since I am ‘crossoverphile’. However, I did write once per time, since I need to be in specific mood to write... And no, I cannot draw, I am way too incompetent and not passionate enough to actually draw, I am glad I can at least write something even when it’s barely decent. I am also proud member of simp clubs of Voryn Dagoth / Dagoth Ur, Sotha Sil, Vivec, Fennorian Ravenwatch, Verandis Ravenwatch, Teldryn Sero, Naryu Virian, Daedric Prince Sanguine AKA Sammy (The Elder Scrolls), Mollymauk Tealeaf, Essek Thelyss, Dorian Storm (Critical Role), Rolan, Raphael, Lae'zel, Halsin (BG3) Jaal Ama Darav, Evfra de Tershaav (ME: Andromeda), Zevran Aranai & Fenris (Dragon Age). (And plenty of Dunmeri / Dark Elven, Tiefling, Chiss and other alien fellows) (More info below)
My most favorite universes are; XCOM, StarCraft, Mass Effect Elder Scrolls and all sorts of DnD-based things (Including Baldur's Gate III & Critical Role). You might also see Star Wars, Dragon Age and anything I like the looks of.
I’ve played all the main Elder Scrolls, but I am finishing them all about now. At this point, I am avoiding ESO because I realised that I don't really like it And that I prefer WoW on free server as the only MMO I play. Not to be rude towards the game, but it just isn't for me, especially with my Stand against its monetisation And boring combat (along with some other unlisted issues, but these are the main ones but in short; ESO can fuck right off. I regret all the time and money I have poured into it and I wish I could take the money back at very least.). Anyway, I’ve played all Mass Effects as well and finished them with passion, I like both the Original Trilogy and Andromeda. About Dragon Age... uh... That one’s a bit complicated. I’ve only finished Dragon Age Origins with its DLCs and Dragon Age 2 with its DLCs as well... not Inquisition though, never really bothered to finish it and probably never will. (And no, I do not care about the DA4 one bit. They killed it the second they revealed the name...) And XCOM, I’ve played Enemy Unknown + Enemy Within but did never really finished it, I will one day though. Then I’ve played XCOM 2, primarily with War of The Chosen, and did finish it once, and I have Chimera Squad on my list of games-to-finish as well. Never played the old X-COM games really. I like DnD-themed games as well including Baldur's Gate III, Divinity Original Sin II, Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder, etc. (and all the art around... I don't watch any shows, it's not my thing.. Well, besides Legend of Vox Machina, that one I really liked. So yeah, I am mildly into Critical Role.)
Please know that my blog is primarily 18+ and that I don’t want people who are transphobic, homophobic, racist, TERF, nahtzees (if you don’t get what it means, just say it to yourself and you’ll quickly understand), fanatic commies, fanatic capitalists, Trump supporters, etc. to follow me. And for those who are diehard fans of Solavellan (Or Solas in general), Lavellan, Dalish Elves in general (After DA2, because they started to suck heavily in DAI), Sheogorath, Astarion, Dark Urge, Gortash or Cicero... Please do not interact with me, as I have strong aversion towards all of those. Again, do not interact ONLY if you are diehard fan of either of those and cannot accept the fact that I dislike your favourite character. (And no, I do not consider C0DA to be official part of the lore. It's just one of many Kirkbride's confused ramblings)
There’s also some games / universes I utterly hate because either it isn’t for me (And I get to see it a lot even though I am not interested) or the fandom ruined it. Fortnite, Witcher, Last of Us, etc. There’s probably more, but these three are prime examples.
Another thing is that creating anything (whether it be art or fanfic or anything like that) with my OCs is not allowed unless I will give clear permission. That goes double for anything NSFW. Also I am not open to NSFW RPs. Please bear that in mind. You can always ask if you are not sure (or forget in some cases), and I will try my best to clarify it.
Also I am actively trying to avoid posting content that could disturb or harm anyone in any way. So if I do post something like that, please, do tell me and I will delete it. Another thing Is that I very scarcely tag, because I am lazy, I only tag when I have something to say to it.
Plus, I need to warn you that I am extremely talkative and tend to be blunt. I don't know why, I just am. (Probably because ADHD)
