ryan feels more at ease here than he has in a very long time. he knows that peace is fleeting, has had that drilled into him for just as long. but he doesn't like living on edge, doesn't like walking on eggshells, and he really doesn't like being told that everyone is going to die and nothing is going to work out. he can't believe that. he chooses not to. so this place... it makes him feel calm. it brings him peace. because of alden. and earl and tammy rose and others around that are helping to build a community. he's not very useful with tools or building and has driven a hammer into his hand instead of the nail more times than he can count, but he's grateful to help do something nonetheless. even if he's better suited to bringing alden water when he works too hard. "you know.. I um... I think it's kinda cool that you found your...people." he doesn't want to make assumptions about alden's dynamic with earl or tammy rose but it feels like more than just helping out. "there's not enough of that, you know? but it's really...neat."
